Was Raining Dead Birds A Hoax What Caused It To Happen

Where do birds go when it rains?

Birds are very sensitive to the slightest changes in barometric pressure and temperature. This early warning allows them to look around and consider their options when a storm is approaching. Some simply leave an area and avoid the worst of a rainstorm. Those that don't evacuate find somewhere secure to ride it out like a sturdy inside branch of a tree. They have automatically clenching tendons on their toes that hold them firmly in place. They may wobble in a high wind, but they won't let go of the branch. Each toe is connected to a cord inside the leg. When the leg is bent, the cords stretch tight and pull the toes around the branch. It takes more energy to leave the perch than to stay there. [1]This toe clenching also protects them while they're asleep from an embarrassing tumble out of a tree.Robins and other ground feeding songbirds tend to burrow inside of thick hedges or brush piles to wait out a storm. They often sit in groups, especially when there are fledglings in the family.Storms like Hurricane Sandy just two years ago, left hundreds of thousands of birds dead or orphaned. Since most Atlantic hurricanes happen in August-November, they coincide with bird migration and severely disrupt this process. Birds are blown off course and forced to land where there's no food or they're too battered to survive once they reach a safe place. Some birds have no choice but to stay and ride out the storms as best they can. There's a federally protected breeding area located on a beach near me that was severely damaged by the last big storm and many endangered and threatened birds were lost along with their habitat. If you want to help out the birds in your yard you can put up roosting boxes, bird houses or just build a simple brush pile for them.[1] bird: perching mechanism

Are there any superstitions about stepping on a dead bird?

Nah, don't worry about it. I'm sure someone out there believes in something involving stepping on a dead bird, but for now, they aren't online and there is nothing to worry about.

Since you're talking about superstitions, I thought you would like to read about some. I've read a lot of these, and while it seems like some are cut off and you can't see the whole superstition about it, others are fine and readable.

There are so many of them! Just none about stepping on a dead bird. Lucky you!

Dead bird in the carport...attempted curse?

If there were no other signs about the dead bird and if it only happened once I would say that it probably is a cat who left his prey there. However if it occurs again or there are other omens surrounding you then you may have some sort of folk hex around you. But I really think that there is nothing to worry about. Peace&love be with you...~M~

Why don't birds get electrocuted sitting on power lines?

Current flows in a loop[ which means the circuit is closed]. A bird sitting on a transmission line does not complete the circuit. If the same bird keeps one leg on one line and another leg (or any part of its body) on another line(or the neutral points), then it will get roasted.Consider this circuit where a bird sits on the wire:The values R1 and R2 are resistances of the line. Electricity takes the path of least resistance. The two legs of the bird which is perched on the same line does not complete the circuit. The R_Bird( resistance of the bird’s body) is much higher than that of the line, so the bird might not experience high current. The potential difference between the two legs of the bird is same( since the resistance of the line is the same throughout). The current flows on.The bird is safe. Now consider this scenario:A bird sitting on a line decides to fly away and raises the wings. With one wing touching the neighboring line and the leg on the first line, this creates a closed circuit. Thus electricity (following the path of least resistance) will detect a potential difference between the wing (which touches the other line) and the leg(which is placed on the first line). The current tries to take on that path creating a short-circuit. Eventually the bird gets zapped and falls off the line. Now the current will continue to flow on.The lesson we learn here is that when ever we play with electricity, make sure you (your body) does not close the circuit. When we poke our fingers into an electrical socket we get shocked because our body will offer a lower resistance . Thus a potential difference will be created between your finger and the feet( which is placed on the floor acting as a neutral point).

I found a dead bird in a flower pot in my backyard where i planted seeds to represent my relationship-HELP!!!?

I planted Basil seeds on the night of The Spring Equinox, to represent the fertility of my current relationship of 3 yrs. I chose basil, believing it represents fertility and money. I planted the seeds with the intention of nuturing it, and watching it grow. I FOUND A DEAD BABY BIRD inside the pot, which was full of mud (it was outside in my backyard) surprisingly, THE BASIL HAD STARTED TO GROW! I wonder if the body of dead animals (birds) help plant growth? But I also FELT VERY WEIRD about this, like what is the meaning behind this? You see I purposely positioned this flower pot outside, in the corner of my yard to allow the seeds to receive the most possible sunlight. There is a tall tree above this area (but I wasn't thinking about a bird "falling" into my pot!! When I found the bird, I looked up, & did not see a nest. Could he have landed, and "fell in"? He was a baby bird. I WOKE UP @ 2:30AM SEARCHING THE NET FOR ANSWERS! PLEASE HELP WITH SERIOUS ANSWERS!!
THANKS SO MUCH! (PEACE)

My dog ate a dried up dead bird, is he ok?

He should be fine. If the bird does not agree with him, he will start throwing up, IE food poisoning. This should happen within 12 to 24 hours of eating the bird. It depends on how sensitive his stomach is to change. My dogs can eat almost anything, and the younger they are, the more they can tolerate. Since the bird was dried up, I doubt there are any germs that could still be alive on it that aren't already in your yard or where you walk him. He has more than likely been exposed to them and they will not bother him. However, if he does start throwing up, you need to get him to the vet. There are special meds the vet can give him that will stop dehydration and the vomiting so he doesn't lose too much weight. When someone poisoned my Pom, he lost half of his body weight, I almost lost him. I had to keep shoving water down his throat to keep him from losing any more and milk to keep him from starving. I tend to think your baby will be fine though. Good Luck and keep me posted!!

I FOUND A DEAD BIRD IN MY POOL. This is the 2nd time, but both times was right after a heavy rain.?

yes, it's safe to swim however, anyone who finds dead fowl or rodents needs to contact the health department so they can test then dispose of the carcass properly.

good luck!

What would happen, if we cut down all of the trees?

Everybody Dies™:as the national maple sirup reserves run out the Canadians get angry, God knows what could happen…Or… Somebody Dies™ ;)Some of the cutters die (statistically it’s quite a dangerous work)Rainforest ecosystems go to hell (and with them some big scale climate stuff), some of the ecosystems probably disappearing from the planet (they struggle to regenerate)CO2 and oxygen levels could bump up and down a little, but it’s hard to tell, the rapid growth of smaller species could attenuate thatIf you let the forest grow back you will have most of them back in 30–40 years (a lot of species grow back from the stump), without the giant trees, but still nice forestsA lot of species will go extinct: they need huge trees to survive, I’d guess some of these have medical use for the locals, some of them could feel bad too, we’d loose a lot in terms of biodiversity and knowledge and beautybut in 200 years only a specialist could tell that it happened. If you keep cutting them, that would be a problem.Forests are the natural state of many drylands, we have to continuously do something to keep the landscape in a different shape.P.S. The original question was about cutting all the trees :)
