How long are Auto recalls good for?

Recalls are not forever!!!!!!!!!!! If you fail to bring your vehicle in before the allotted time-usually 10 years-then the manufacturer has no legal obligation to remedy the vehicle at their expense. You will have to pay for it.

Recalls are not good for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to NHTSA.com and read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS
The offer of a free repair for a recalled vehicle extends eight years from the date the recall is announced. If you find out that your car has been recalled but the time allowed by law to have the free repair made has elapsed, don't give up. Car manufacturers have goodwill policy programs. Repairs called for by expired recalls may still be paid for, at least in part, by the manufacturer. Therefore, contact a dealer to get in touch with the manufacturer.

Is there a trick for recalling memory?

Yes, there is a method. Allow me to give you a little backstory on this. Once, a Greek poet named Simonides stepped out of a dinner party for a while. He came back and found a collapsed roof and corpses so disfigured nobody can identify them. But Simonides could-he remembered the exact position each guest was seated at before he left, by using a simple method. Now, the method is called the "Mind Palace". Basically, you take a familiar surrounding (say, your house) and settle on a route that will take you through the entire house. This is your "mind palace". Then, put everything you need to remember in the palace. Say you need to remember a shopping list:-A bottle of milk     -Some eggs-Ketchup                  -A lamp-A new lock-A journal Imagine yourself walking to the front door and you see a different lock than the one you were using. That's the "cue" you need to remember the list. Put these cues all over the house. The eggs could be on the table, the milk and ketchup could be beside the eggs for your breakfast. The journal could be in your bedroom and the lamp needs to be turned on for you to write in it. The point is, put what ever you need to remember all over the house. Historical dates, Science facts. Take your pick. Connect those facts with something easy to remember, like "on the 10th day of Christmas (December), the Japanese sunk two British ships".  The stranger the connection, the better for you to remember it. Just don't cross-reference everything you know for a single detail. But, the surrounding you pick is crucial. If you pick a random spot, you won't remember what stuff's placed there or where the rooms are. You'll get confused this way. This method has proven to be useful for experts. Some of them claimed to be able to remember dozens of stuff-more than the usual seven, the "capacity" of our working memory. I hope this answer was helpful.

Was there an EGR recall on 1997 Toyota Camry's?

A long time ago there was a recall, but they only last 10 years. The active recall has since closed. Have you ever replaced the valve and sensor before? It was an Oxygen Sensor, EGR valve, and sometimes a Mas Airflow Sensor, but that was optional, but recommended. All together, it’s a 30 minute job, and a fair price for all parts and labor would be about $150, but you can do it yourself with parts from the internet for $35.

How can you tell if recall work has been performed on your vehice already?

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

How can I find out if a recall order was completed on my vehicle before I bought it?

Back in 2006, I bought a Ford Escape. When I recently had trouble with the windshield wipers, I began researching online to try to pinpoint the problem. I found a recall notice from 2004. The linkage was bad, and they were supposed to be replaced. When I took it to the Ford garage here in town, they tried to gouge me by trying to make me buy a part and pay $50 more than I was quoted on the phone. When I asked, once again, if the recall had been completed back in 2004, the guy acted "shifty". Even though I know it wasn't the linkage (it was a simple clip at the end of the arm that snaps it in place and keeps the arm from coming off but they say I have to buy the whole assembly), I still want to know if it was fixed the first time because I have a little girl and worry that it will break at a bad time on the road. Plus, I drive at night because of my job. Who do I contact to find out if the problem was corrected back in 2004 when it was supposed to have been fixed?

My car has been recalled but I have already replace the recalled part. Can I get reimbursed for the part?

It depends if its A: a safety recallAnd B: your replacement part was not also on the recall listAnd C: you had it installed by a certified technician for that particular brsnd and problem. Most of the time it’s a dealership. If it was a safety recall, the manufacturer has the duty by law to replace/ repair 100% of the vehicles in circulation, unless it can be provennthat the vehicle does not exsist any more. To control that matter, many parts ( like the TAKATA recall) will be recalled with VIN specific parts and repair orders. Only then ghey can prove to have covered all cars affected by the recall. So, selfhelp won’t cover the legal need for a controlled replacement of a safety related part.If it’s a non safety related issue and you can prove your repair and parts purchase, you may be eligible for a refund from the manufacturer. If it is a safety recall you will be out of luck.

Are there deadlines for vehicle recalls?

I don't think there is. Especially if it's a safety issue.
I have a 1996 Chevy Tahoe which I have owned since new. A couple of months ago the wipers stopped working. I took it to the dealer to get it repaired. The mechanic told me that there was a recall a couple of years back and I don't need to pay for anything. The factory recall will cover all charges. So in my case there was no deadline.

Website to see if recall repairs have been made?

I just bought a 1994 Chrysler Concorde... for the size (I am a mom of 4) , and I got a pretty good deal ($500, some front end problems), a large car is usually better on gas than a mini van... anyway back to the point...
I found out that this year of Concorde had a ton of recalls... My friends mom sold it to me and she bought it from a shady used car lot here in town, she has no idea if any of the recalls have been fixed or not... So I am wondering if there is a site (that is free) that I can go to and enter my VIN and see what has been done to it (or not done to it)? There is no Chrysler/Dodge dealership here in town, and considering the CV joint is bad I don't want to take it too far from home. (Yes I am getting the CV joint fixed soon, my dad does the work on my cars and he is out of town at the moment) I figure I should get all the recall work done on it, hey it is free!
I really appreciate all the answers I get.
