Is there a statute of limitations on death threats?

Threats are a difficult one, as they are hard to show as being "serious." The longer things go, the less likely they are crimes at all.

But let's assume that it's a crime. In Georgia, the statue of limitations for "other" felonies is 4 years. For misdemeanors, it's 2 years.

So, at best, 4 years.

However, if the victim was a minor, it could be longer.

Why was slavery a threat to the union?

The issue for Lincoln was not so much the existence of slavery in states such as Georgia and Alabama where it already existed but its status in new states admitted to the Union after 1820.

Political, economic and religious differences between North and South were exacerbated by the ongoing struggle for power in the Western territories acquired through the Louisiana Purchase and the compromises whereby the entry of a pro-slavery state (eg Arkansas, Missouri) had to be balanced by a free state (eg Maine, Michigan). By the 1850’s, these tensions had led to bitter and sectarian divisions whereby the normal functioning of the political system was almost paralysed.

Lincoln believed that slavery would, if confined to its original states, wither away of its own accord, a view that was held by many of his contemporaries in both North and South. It was therefore the divisions caused by the attempt to expand it into new states that threatened the Union, rather than its existence in the ’Old South’ that he was referring to.

In addition, there was the issue of states rights (eg the right to secede, the right to pass your own laws etc) over Federalism, which was an ongoing argument within the US polity.

Before April 14, 1861, which states were part of the Confederate States of America?

When Abraham Lincoln, a known opponent of slavery, was elected president, the South Carolina legislature perceived a threat. Calling a state convention, the delegates voted to remove the state of South Carolina from the union known as the United States of America. The secession of South Carolina was followed by the secession of six more states -- Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas -- and the threat of secession by four more -- Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina. These eleven states eventually formed the Confederate States of America.

How does Russia represent a military threat in the Black Sea to Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, and Georgia?

Russia is no treat for Bulgaria. It is a treat in the brainwashed by the Western propaganda heads of the psycho-right wings in Bulgaria, such as the members of the Atlantic Club and the Atlantic alliance of Bulgaria.

What would happen if Georgia the state and Georgia the country were switched?

The people from Georgia would probably be very sad on the one hand because they aren't in their beautiful country anymore. On the other hand, USA is the land of the free and unlimited possibilities. They would now have all the chances in life to become successful.Another advantage for them is that their neighbour, Russia, is no longer a problem for them. The people of the State of Georgia would feel sad because they don't have the great summer weather anymore, they can't make use of largest airport in the world anymore and they have new neighbours, being Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. This is an interesting thing. The threat from Russia (in 2008, Russia invaded Georgia), the potential influx of immigrants from Turkey etc. These Georgians couldn't count on the support of the US army anymore which would suck for them. And of course the quality of life, the healthcare system and the educational system is a whole lot different for US people in this situation.

Why is a small state like Georgia is important for the USA?

If you are talking about the state Georgia then the first thing I'd say is that it is far from being small. It has the 8th largest population and is the biggest state East of the Mississippi River. The capital city, Atlanta, is the 9th largest metropolitan area in the United States. Why is it important? Well for starters, Georgia is home to over 10 million Americans. Economically if Georgia was it's own country it would have the 28th biggest economy in the world. It is home to 18 Fortune 500 companies. Georgia is also a major exporter of pecans, blueberries, and chicken (Gainsville, Ga is considered the poultry capital of the world). Georgia has a film industry worth over a billion dollars. Savannah is home of the fourth largest port in the United States. Hartsfield Jackson International Airport is the biggest in the world meaning that millions of people travel through Atlanta every year. Georgia also has many U.S. military bases including Fort Benning, one of the largest bases in the country. Overall Georgia is very important to the U.S. and isn't very small.

Why did the United States do nothing to oppose the Russian invasion of South Ossetia, Georgia?

The conflict has a long history you better read at least few pages about:Georgian–Ossetian conflict (1918–20)Georgian–Ossetian conflict (1989– )The US participated in some training of Georgian army in 2003–2008 and supplied them some arms.Basically, Georgia did a wrong move. They launched full-scale offensive on separatists (which were not any large threat for them). They killed a few Russians in that offensive. It looks like they didn’t coordinate start of that attack with the US or EU2008 was presidential election year in the US ( United States presidential election, 2008 ). Every military or political move could be criticized by the opposing side. They forgot that they may face 3-direction war (Abkhazia and Black Sea Russian fleet too). They did that despite there were clear signs that Russia backs Ossetian separatists. The US hardly had any options to do anything very quickly in that situation. Probably they didn’t expect full-scale war started by Georgia. Might be they thought that it would not go above some minor hostilities with separatists which already happened for many years. It is not reasonable at all for small country like Georgia to start conflict involving Russia. And without big hostilities Russia had no any good pretext to invade Georgia. What the US actually did was composing a delegation of Eastern Europe satellite countries presidents as “diplomatic protection” for Saakashvili regime. But Russians had not plans for “regime change” or any big and long occupation. They taught Georgia a lesson with destroying Georgian army, quickly went for peace talks with support of the EU, after which withdrawn their forces. The war lasted 5 days: 7–12 August 2008. There was no time to do anything big providing you don’t want to start big war with Russia immediately. But EU did not want war and actively mediated for peace, not asking the US if they want to do anything else.P.S. The first photo from that war I saw on August 8 2008 looked like this:It pictured Georgian Army using MRLS to shell Tskhinvali, Ossetian city. International press already picked that Georgia started large offensive, and there was no big room for media maneuver as well.
