Was This Sleep Paralysis

Was this sleep paralysis?

if you're aware + awake while you cant move your body before you fully wake up;
then yes

Is sleep paralysis rare?

You see the 40% number thrown around a lot, but that is just one estimate of many. Most estimates are between 5% and 25% of people will experience a single episode in their lifetime.The only people I’ve ever met (not including the people I’ve met specifically because they had sleep paralysis) that have had sleep paralysis are in my family. If the 40% statistic were true, I would expect that number to be a lot higher.I would also expect most doctors to know what sleep paralysis is if that 40% stat were true, and I have never had a doctor who knew what it was before I explained it. And I’ve had dozens of doctors from all over the U.S.Also, most people who experience it only have the sensation that they are awake and can’t move for a few seconds.The bad SP episodes (including difficulty breathing, a serious case of dread and/or terror, and hallucinations) is extremely rare.Having more than one SP episode in your life is also extremely rare.

Was this Sleep Paralysis, or a ghost?

Though you are in a seeminly paralyzed state you can still move and free yourself from it .It is more or less like dreaming while you are awake and is not usually connected to the paranormal but seems like it. I had an encounter with "Sleep Paralysis" one time where I was frozen solid, could not move or speak or call out and I hallucinated someone outside my window, laughing. I heard leaves crunching and they were just outside. I was afraid they were trying to break in and I was frightened that I could not move or anything and that they were going to attack me. This was so real at the time. I then heard them move to my back door and try to open it. I was still frozen and totally frightened but still could not move. They had a very sinister laugh and I felt they had sinister intentions but I cold not do a thing. After about what seemed like an hour of this going on I finally shook myself awake. When I did I was still in fear. The emotion of the experience carried over to my waking state. I was convinced that they were still out there. It was late but I got up and grabbed a hammer and walked around to peek out my windows and doors but did not see anyone. I had had this experience before but this one was very different. The look of my bedroom when the lights were out was the same whether I was in or out of the state so it was hard to tell the difference. I treated it like a very real experience. After I calmed down and my heart stopped beating so fast I realized it was just my imagination and possibly just a sleep paralysis episode. I went back to sleep. The next day the experience was still on my mind and I walked outside to make sure everything looked ok. Nothing broken or no open screens on my windows or doors. I walked outside my bedroom windown and there were leaves all around. In my episode I heard leaves crunching. How could I hallucinate that. How was my imagination able to take that into account. I got a little creeped out just then. A very good book I recommend is "The Terror That Comes In The Night" by David J. Hufford. It explains this phenomenon in detail as well as the different cultural beliefs as to what it is thought is the reason for why this happens.

Can sleep paralysis kill you?

I have experience sleep paralysis several times and trust me, sleep paralysis can’t kill you. It is only a myth. In fact, I have a blog where you can read about sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming.Let me be straight:There are no demons, dark entities, archons, spiders, aliens, reptilians, Illuminati, leeches, evil spirit, a deity or nine-legged snakes trying to eat you whole while stealing your soul… squashing you inside the bed with a big block of concrete that blocks your chest and you can't even move (like when Thor places his hammer on Loki’s chest!). Yes, sleep paralysis can be scary, very scary.Sleep paralysis happens this way because to all the junk that humanity has in its consciousness. After all, it is just hallucinations created by our minds. Our minds pull the information from the “memory banks” that we filled ourselves… But again, as I said they are just hallucinations and there is nothing wrong with them. We are the ones to blame for the scary parts, and we are the ones that need to work on this.Sleep paralysis is only a stage!It is a mechanical and natural process that we all go through, in fact, it happens every time we fall asleep. Many of you possibly have experienced it already. The mind paralysis the body so do you don’t act out your dreams. Somnambulism is a serious condition because of lack of sleep paralysis, among other reasons. If the mind is awake (you have not lost awareness), you are going to experience sleep paralysis consciously.When your mind is awake and your body is asleep, it triggers sleep paralysis. It always happens when you try to induce a lucid dream using the WILD technique, and the same goes if you are pursuing an astral projection. Do NOT MOVE nor try to move at this stage, or you will break your trance and blow it. You do not need to be afraid, and only focus in your desired dream or in your vibrations and you will have a pleasant surprise!I have a course about lucid dreaming where you can find a lot more out from lucid dreaming!

Is sleep paralysis normal?

It is normal and quite common. It just happens when you are sort of stuck between two sleep states. Your body becomes paralysed during REM sleep (to stop you acting out your dreams) and if you wake-up it can take a while for the paralysis to wear off. You can feel like there is a weight on your chest and you can also hallucinate (hence the reason people think they have seen demons and aliens). I get the pressure on the chest, but I don't see anything. My friend also sees a cloaked figure standing by the bed. My doctor told me that getting enough sleep, not taking stimulants before bed and sleeping on your side can help. If you try and move a part of your body it can snap you out of the paralysis. It is freaky, but it does only last a few seconds. I have got used to it now.

What does sleep paralysis mean?

Sleep paralysis is basically where you are kind of half-awake and your brain hasn't connected to your body's functions completely so you can't move. It's a common occurrence amongst african americans but not so much amongst whites and africans. It's often referred to as a demonic visitation but it really just is what it is.

Some people will refer to it as a form of lucid dreaming. To stop such dreams I'd recommend not sleeping straight on your back. I used to get sleep paralysis all the time because of that. Started sleeping on my side and 'poof', gone.

From your previous question that I commented on. While this is a valid option to explaining it, if the problem persists please refer to that previous comment.

What is the sleep paralysis demon? It is real?

Let's get this out of the way before people start believing in demons. There is no Sleep Paralysis Demon. You are referring to Incubus which is the name given to the sensation of someone sitting on your chest during a sleep paralysis episode. This is not real. Sleep paralysis is an episode when part of your brain is dreaming, and part is awake.Dreaming typically occurs during what is called REM sleep. During REM sleep, your major muscles are paralyzed. This is a good thing. You don't want to be dreaming about fighting a bear and beating up the person sleeping next to you.It is possible to partially awaken during a REM sleep cycle. In these situations, you are partially in REM sleep, therefore your body is paralyzed. This also includes the muscles between your ribs (intercostals). These muscles are responsible for breathing. And since your brain is partially in REM sleep, you might still be dreaming. That means your brain will create hallucinations so you might see things in your room.Sleep paralysis is frightening. I experience it on a weekly basis. But let's be clear. There is a reason this is happening...and it's not related to demons.
