As a left-leaning person, what do you like about conservatives?
The first and most important thing to remember is a person’s politics is not their entire personality. I know many incredibly friendly and down-to-earth conservatives and extremely haughty and passive aggressive liberals. When I go home to small town Kentucky, I may cringe at some of the comments I hear but I do appreciate how people tend to be nicer than they are in big city Seattle.Here are some other things I appreciate:Many conservatives I know dedicate a lot of time and money to charity as they believed private action is better than government spending to improve the world. I somewhat disagree with this as some problems are nearly impossible for charity to tackle, but I admire their generosity.Conservatives tend to keep liberals honest when it comes to big social spending. I’ve seen a number of big tax increases in Seattle and Washington State which were well intentioned but ended up costing taxpayers a lot more than advertised. It was local conservatives who called out these problems and held people accountable.The world may not be as dangerous as Alex Jones pretends, but it is still dangerous. Some of my conservative friends in the military and LE are stone cold killers who won’t hesitate to put the hurt on somebody looking to hurt me or my family. As much as we need the laid back liberal cop to de-escalate a situation involving mental illness or addiction, we also need that hardened conservative whose willing to take down the serial killer.

I’ve paid various pricesm guessing from $50 to $85.example 0: City of San Francisco - 2003 replace doo-dad in transmission, they looked up the “hours to replace doo-dad” in a reate-book or sort, the book said 12 so they charged me 12 hours. It could have taken em 5h or 15h, but they charged me 12 hours. Labor rate was $85/hour.example 1: San Jose 2014, 30k miles ago - Replace head gasket on an inline-6 engine. The shop is certainly all about car repair - the office is a small room filled with parts and whatnot. Headgasket + head rebuild (machined and cleaned) + new oil + new coolant + parts + labor was $1500 total before tax. Dealer would be $3–$4k (I did not even check, quoting those numbers from an online forum). So for the work, guessing even $500 for parts, then $1000 labor for machining, head rebuild, and replacement, I am certain it was more than 10 hours, so less than $100/hour in labor. Guessing 15 hours, thats around $70/hour.As others have said, it really depends. KEy is find a shop that values you, and they’ll take care of you as a customer.
