We Are Thinking Of Relocating To North Carolina From New England. What Colleges There Offer A

Why is New England so Liberal?

I'm a Conservative Republican and I live in a suburb of New Haven, CT, which is a very Liberal area. My father's family is spread throughout Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, which, besides NH, are all very hardcore Leftist areas. I don't get why this region is one of the most Democrat voting places in the country when so many parts of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and even MA fit the demographic patterns for a Republican stronghold: rural, overwhelmingly White, and with a strong Christian presence. Is it because of ethnicity? There's lots of Irish and Italian Catholics up here and they're usually the Democrat politicians and run the Left Wing Political machine, but I also know a lot of Conservative Catholics. I'm a Congregationalist and my family's been in New England since the Mayflower, and guys like me tend to be Republicans up here, but I haven't seen it be explicitly tied to ethno-religious politics.I also see a lot of people saying that it's cause w're more educated, but there's a lot of uneducated dumbasses in Southie and in inner cities of Hartford and Fairfield County, and there's also a lot of uneducated Yuppie know-it-alls transplanted from New York and places like that. Plus, Massachusetts is still home to loads of Republicans like Mitt Romney and Charlie Baker, and a lot of Republicans hold various offices throughout New England, even if they're moderate, so why is New England wicked Liberal every Presidential election? Is it because of unions?

What do people think of connecticut?

I think it's the funniest state name to pronounce when you're baked :)

Should I move to Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, or North Carolina?

Hey I'm 17 and I'm from new england. I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts. I want to move to one of those places with my boyfriend next year but I don't know where. I want to live somewhere thats Warm and I can go to the beach. I dont want a place with outstanding humidity cause I don't want to mess up my hair everyday(sounds silly I know but it really gets to me), also humidity is just annoying if its 24/7. I want a place with friendly people and a nice enviornment. I have to say I will always love new england but I am tired of it. It's freezing cold and then rediculously hot 3 months of the year. there is not much to do where I live either. The closest city is Boston and its 2 hours away. anyone from one of the states I've listed, what are the benefits of living there? I like the idea of Florida cause it seems so fun, but is it a good place to live? here are some of the things I worry most about

-Extreme weather- hurricane threats, tornados, tsunami's, really unbearably hot summers, etc.
-Diversity.Racial segregation.. I want to make sure where I live isn't racist (my family is white and puerto rican) and i want to make sure it isnt segregated. its also important its open minded and not a very anti gay or anti interracial community.
-Jobs..is there a lot of jobs available?
-schooling..best universities?
-Good for starting a family/children? or just having a goodtime? good nightlife?
-Cheap housing/apartments? how expensive is cost of living
-CRIME.. I want somewhere with low crime, and preferably a suburb of a fun city, that i could get to in 30 to 40 minutes, id also love to live near the beach.

Some of my boyfriends family(his sister and her hubby and baby) live in TN, so thats why I thought of TN. the only reason.
Virginia I thought of cause I heard it's a nice state, same with North carolina, with nice beaches.
Georgia I have visited and liked.
Florida seems very fun to me.

Thank you for reading this and if you feel like you can give me some good info I'll really appreciate it!! 10 points for best most detailed answer. Thanks guys!!!
