We Have Started A Community Project That Help Ppl In Need Food Scheme We Like To Know How Can We

What should we start a charity for?

Starting a charity will take lots of paperwork, forming a nonprofit, recruiting board members (all over 18), paying fees, writing a business plan, maintaining financial records, etc.

Why not, instead, volunteer and promote an *existing* nonprofit organization?

Dirty beaches-Oahu, Hawaii/ Project ideas? Help.?

Okay, so we have this project change thing for our math that's worth like 80% of our grade. We have to think of a way to help the community and put it into action. We have a certain schedule, certain things are due on certain times, I think we have to help find a way to help our community and put it into action by late April or early May. I was thinking of a beach clean up. Or maybe feed the homeless, but I don't know how the whole system goes for feeding the homeless thing. Or I could do Koholawe with my friend. Okay. Anyway.
BEACH CLEAN UP- I need help. Besides Waikiki, can you give me other beaches or beach parks that are sorta polluted, but like not so much. Somewhere where I could actually go in the water and not get any illness. somewhere where people actually go to to swim?
And HOMELESS SHELTERS- can you give me a list of some homeless shelters on Oahu? And can you explain to me how the whole feed the homeless system goes and everything?
Or, You can give me some advice on what to do.
Thanks. [Just answer one of my questions, no need answer all of them. Just either answer the beach question are the [2] homeless questions]

BTW, if I didn't make it clear, I live on the island of Oahu. [Aiea]

I want to help needy and poor people but I don't have money. How can I help them?

Hey!!Good to see that people having no money, but have got a big heart.I really don't think giving money to beggars can ever be a good option. When nothing in this world comes for free, why should beggars get money by mere sympathy instead of hard work?As I am pursuing my b.tech from Nagpur and i live as PG,so there are expenses.I don’t have a fixed pocket money,it varies everytime. All depends on whether my mood flips on with time. But I love helping needy ones.So i celebrated this birthday with them, have gone through the streets of Nagpur and found a crowd of small children.I went close to them had a short conversation with them, gave some food and clothes and according to me great birthday celebrations are unnecessary when there are people who cannot even afford next meal. After spending an hour with them i asked them “can i leave?”(as those were the days my exams were on) suddenly one of them said “Itne jaldi”Translated: Why so early!!With smile on my face i said “Jald hi milenge”Translated: Will meet soon :)So this was my story. This birthday was simple but gave me lot more happiness than any other birthday celebration. When you make someone else smile on your birthday, I mean the real happiness, you cannot imagine how much happiness you receive in your heart.Notice the satisfaction one gets by helping someone needy. And Here are few things that you can do:1).Help the poor student by giving them your old books.2).You can let go that extra blanket in your wardrobe, humanity needs it.3).Have low self esteem, they wish for a better life - leave them feeling valued even if you don't have a dime to offer, don't give that awkward look when they ask for money.4).When travelling somewhere, keep stack of biscuits in your car, many kids ask for money in traffic signals, instead give them biscuits that can feed their hunger.5) You buy a movie ticket worth Rs.300 at the cinema - the poor doesn't have such surplus. You can invite them to spend some time with you alone.Humans are everywhere but only few of them are HumaneSo please do help the needy ones :)

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs?

Good project! Some suggestions.....

Think about what those areas mean to you....do you have a picture of your current place where you live and what you need to eat to survive? (Physiological). Is there a place, situation, person who makes you feel secure or safe? (Sagety) Who are you close to, or do you have someone you love? For esteem...do you have a hero....or how do you feel about yourself? (You could have a mirror in that spot...or a picture of you where you think you look particularly good) For Self Actualization...maybe go with something spiritual or a picture of the ideal YOU....

See if you can't do a pictoral plan that can help you move up the pyramid....don't go for the end in one move, but if you can move up a little...it is progress!

Good luck....remember, part of the hierarchy is that you can't really move up the pyramid if there are problems with the lower level...if you aren't feeling safe, you can't devote time/energy to your esteem area....if you don't feel love, how can you love yourself which makes esteem difficult.....and so on!

How can I help the homeless?

Last Christmas season, I wanted to give, and I saw a man walking near a pizza parlor, asking for food money. I had $10. in my pocket, and wondered if the money would actually go for food, just you did, and decided to order him a pizza. It was a cold night, and the pizza would warm him. I asked him what kind of pizza he likes to eat, and would he like a piece, and what is his name. I ordered a pizza in his name, tipped them, told them that I had ordered for this man - which was cool with them, and took the receipt outside. His eyes glistened, and when he picked up the order, realizing it was a whole pizza, looked happily shocked as he carried it around the corner to share with 3 other men who looked like they needed a warm meal as well. It felt good to surprise someone. Have a healthy and happy new year!
