Sarees — designer, embroidered or otherwise value added — will attract a 5% goods and services tax, the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has said.Clearing the air over whether sarees will be treated as garments or fabric, the CBEC said sarees are treated as fabric and it remains so even after embroidery etc as no new item emerges having a distinct name, character and use.“Therefore, sarees, embroidered or not, would be taxed at the same rate at which the fabric is the board explained in a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs).It said 5 % GST is levied on job processes relating to the textile yarn (other than manmade fibre/filament) and fabrics.With regard to dress materials, the answer to a frequently asked question clarified that if sale value is not exceeding Rs 1,000, then a 5% GST will be levied and in cases where it exceeds Rs 1,000, a 12% GST will be charged.According to set Goods and Services Tax Council rates, all categories of fabric attract a 5% rate. The quality of the material is damn high.Not only the saree even other materials’ quality too. For instance, my mom bought a nighty I was wearing it regularly for five to six years. The material had not faded away neither the cloth had torn.Although the price is quite high, its worth for the quality. Sometimes there will be clearance sale for continous three days for 50%(only for the sarees including silk sarees too).The direction to reach Mahaveers is easy since its been situated near the bus stand(opp. direction yeah).Next prefernce is PSR Silks.The quality and the amount is good. One of my friend ended up buying her reception saree at PSR and its really worth the amount.SreeDevi - Actually there are lot of collection but still the quality is not trustable. Coz I have heard that the colors fade away esp. in silk sarees after years. Also, there are atleast ten copies of same saree or material designs which I hate.ChennaiSilks - My best advice. I have personally found out after a tedious market research for the wholesale supplier as it was my project, and I had to go to SURAT which is famous for sarees , I found out there are lakhs of shop and how to cope up with every ,so trust in this business is the most important thing. Through personal research and word of mouth of people , I found out that , for the medium range of sarees , which include cotton- silk , Vision sarees in STM GODOWN H-13 ring road , Surat. Vision synthestics; is the most relevant, trustworthy. I had personally talk to them , I found out it to be the best , as I came to know , every week they have new design , new material in sarees and they never run out of fashion , and if you are a wholesaler they give various deal which are given by none in market as I found out. They maintain a high proportion of loyal customers and supply their sarees all over INDIA and their customer approach is really amazing. If you convince them to supply you , trust me , your very big problem is solve. One more thing, they even give goods on credit if you have Agent in between, but I think it’s better to pay advance and save money , better to buy in stacks and buy again so you are saved of stress. Because they have new designs every week. They sell sarees from 115 to 450 , and the sarees above 400 are sold in big showrooms.
