Part-time Jobs-- college student, pharmacy tech, nursing?

Why get a job as a pharmacy tech, which will have little to do with you future career as a nurse? It would make much more sense to become a CNA. Most nursing homes offer *free* classes, and they usually offer you a job at the end of the class if you pass the test.

Is it the most desirable job? No, of course not. However, it will look excellent on your resume and you will have NO trouble finding a CNA job. . .we are screaming for CNA's here in New England. The pay is also usually better than that of a pharmacy tech, to tell you the truth. My ex-bf's sister is a CNA and she was making $10.30/hr at her first CNA job, while I was stuck at $8.65 after 6 months in the pharmacy.

I'm not knocking pharmacy techs, because I'm a CPhT myself :]
I just think that a job as a CNA would benefit you more in the future!

Which country is best for pharmacy students?

Repudi Elizabeth, thank you for asking me.Well, MOST of the countries don't even recognize Indian Pharmacy education be it Bachelor's degree or Diploma or Doctorate. It doesn't really count. I'm assuming (looking at the surname) that you are from India. I've tried to plan about studying my Masters in Singapore and also to work as a pharmacist in Singapore. But Singapore (and many other countries) don't recognize Indian education. And I don't like to go for Masters in the US right now. May be I want to save it for later years of my life. And coming to the point of answering your question, I guess you're already doing your Bachelors in Pharmacy. So BEST COUNTRY depends on the MASTERS or your AREA OF INTEREST. You have to decide which subject (I love Pharmacology, I hate Pharmaceutics, I don't understand Medicinal Chemistry) suits you well. And also, your kind of job role(If I do my Masters in Pharmacology, I'd love to work as a Clinical Pharmacologist in an MNC level hospital or as a scientist in a CR&D company).European countries (mostly Switzerland, Germany) are very advanced in Research oriented studies.Pharmaceutics - US, China, France, Canada, UK.Hope that helps. Let me know if I can help you more. Or anything specific with.

Is Florida A&M University a straight 6 year pharmacy school?

FAMU is a 6 year school. If your accepted into the program as a freshman you need to complete all your pre reqs and maintain a 3.0 your freshman and sophomore year. (pre-pharmacy). If you do this your pretty much guaranteed a spot into the professional program, however at end of your sophomore year you do have to complete another application and interview. Also submit and unofficial transcript. We accept 150 students in to the professional program. To give you and idea we accept about 300 freshman a year and due to whatever circumstances failing classes...ect you lose about half if not more of those freshman come around the end of your sophomore year. That leaves on average 120-150 students left to matriculate into the professional program (the remainder 4 years). Transfer students are also accepted into the professional program. And as of right now no the PCAT is not req. but it will be soon. Its a great school word of advice visit the college of pharmacy before istening to others.we

Is pharmacy in India underrated?

Definitely. Being a pharmacy student, I've had a lot of people telling me how better it would be if I had chosen engineering or medicine or how tough life is for a pharmacy graduate. Pharmacy as a profession is valued a lot in many countries. The role of pharmacists in other countries is a lot different from that in India. In the US, the doctor would diagnose the patient and the pharmacist is the one who suggests him the medicines most of the times. In India, people perceive that a pharmacy graduate can just open and sit in a pharmacy store and dispense medicines. This might be because of a lot of reasons. The primary ones being: -Indian's mentality of not valuing anything other than Engineering or Medicine. -Pharmacy being a research profession, there is very little earning at the start of your career.-People do not realize pharmacy as a profession (Both research and stores) should exist for all the Engineers and doctors to survive happily. If you don't consider any external factors and continue in the profession, it is certainly very rewarding. :)

How do I accept the job offer on California's great America website?

Sounds very weird. Just call up the interviewer and ask how to do that. You won't sound stupid. It's a stupid process. They should just say "you got the job, here's your paperwork", like every other company in the world. Stupid company.

American Universities' requirements of IGCSE students.?

You can go on any US university's web site to read requirements for an international student.

Medical school: requires a four year Bachelor degree with pre med classes and take the MCAT exam to apply. Very few US med school accept international students.
Pharmacy- requires a PharmD Which means after a four year Bachelor degree you will need to go on to Grad school.

Engineering is a very different career over medicine. and there are many different fields within engineering.

You can not apply to US universities with a IGCSE. You need your A levels and take the SAT exam.

Plan on at least $30,000 to $50,000 per year for tuition and room and board for your undergrad studies. Books;$1000-$1500 per year. plus health insurance. Plus your travel and personal expenses.

College dorms and campus close down completely over school breaks. You are going to need to leave your dorm during winter and spring breaks and over the summer.

What are the best options in the USA after doing a B.Pharmacy in India?

Companies usually do not hire B. Pharm students directly from India, solely for the reason that a candidate would not have work authorization (unless the candidate is a citizen or a green card holder). The conventional route is to seek work authorization through F-1 Student Visa or L-1 Employment Visa. If you're able to surpass the immigration hurdles, there are multiple job opportunities across all sectors of the drug and pharmaceutical industry.
