I live in Korea, and there are TONS of great movies to watch. First off: Sunny (2011) ****/***** In a flashback, a high-school girl is severely bullied by her classmates for her lack of fashion and her country accent. Luckily, another group of girls protect her, and they form a tightly knit group of friends known as Sunny. The movie flashes to present day, the girl is now grown up. She coincidentally meets the bullies from her past, but is saved yet again by one of her friends from Sunny.... Daddy-Long Legs (2005) *****/***** One of the most famous movies of Ha-Ji Won from Secret Garden. It loosely follows the plot of the book, with several twists in between. The ending is the most heart-felt, because it has the worst twist of them all.. I'm A Cyborg, But That's Okay (2006) *****/***** A man in a mental facility (basically, a softer asylum) meets a girl who believes she is a cyborg. She marks him as her partner and does strange things (kissing him, believing that he is her battery source, etc.) The Host (2006) *****/***** It follows a plot of where a duo of scientists throw away toxic waste into the sink, leading to the Han River in Korea. A store-owner and his family live in a run-down shop by the river, and are leading an average life. Suddenly, a mutated monster erupts from the river, killing many, and kidnapping his daughter (he grabs a girl's hand, thinking it is his daughter's, but is someone else). Sad, tear jerker romance movies, recommendations?
One of the best love movie I ever saw was this movie called, "THE LOVER"! BE WARNED this move is hot and steamy! It's somewhat close to pornography, but it tells a beautiful story of love between an English girl and a soon to be married King. Forgive me I forgot what Asian country this movie takes place in, but I swear you'll cry in the end. Another boo hoo, movie is, "The Note Book". I recommend you watch these movies alone to avoid the embarrassing snot drippings from your nose! HAVE FUN!!!

What do you consider to be a cheesy, overdone romance plot?
Hmmm having read a few there are lots, but if you read lots you get used to them. I find its actually the intensity that helps ie you can have the same plot eg boss and employee, but i guess its the writer and how they write it that makes it work etc. Other typical ones are people who used to know each other and now meet, but cicumstances have changed (ie bad boy made good, rich girl loses her fortune) two rich families that must combine, often with marriage involved of the 2 main characters and her families business going under. The undercover writer, reporter trying to see the rich, recluse The illigitimate child from a previous relationship, her escape and either she goes to him for help or he finds out by accident. So I guess there are lots to chose from (or avoid in this case). You have to have the compulsory "bust up" for whatever reason, the denial of feelings by one or both and conflict. I guess you can take aspects and mix them up, but I think personally its the characters that keep me interested (ie their "feelings"). Hope it works out and I would love to read it sometime!
