Can kung fu help you tone up and lose weight?

Yeah, it is pretty good for weight loss and fitness. I have done some kung fu and really enjoyed it. I would suggest that however many classes you are going to be taking a week you set aside an equal number of 30-60 minute blocks of free time, even if it is just while watching teevee, and practice the stuff that you have learned that week. Start slowly and focus on the form for like ten minutes and then speed things up till you are going pretty close to full speed, just be careful not to hyper extend anything,. Not only will this radically increase your learning curve, but, it will help burn extra calories and lock the techniques into your repetitive Muscle memory.

Is toning your body the same as losing weight?

Toning is the same as loosing fat. Losing fat is not the same as losing weight (weight accounts for fat, muscle, water retention etc.)

Toning is essentially the process of losing bodyfat while eating and lifting to maintain your muscles (you can't lose fat and grow your muscles at the same time) to increase their visibility, giving you that more 'cut' appearance.

Does toning your body help you lose weight or is it just a cover up for your body?

It REALLY speeds up weight loss because it causes your body to go into a "building mode" called an "anabolic state" When you tone using resistance training like weights or dumbbells, you are actually creating tiny little rips or tears (tear as in "to tear" a paper, not tears that you cry) in the muscle you are working. Your body detects those tears and goes into overdrive trying to repair (aka build) more new cells over the little tears, thus greatly increasing metabolism. If you're a girl don't worry about getting buff or building large muscles it's much harder for a girl to do that, you are most likely to have a nice toned body minus the big muscles. So definitely incorporate that into any weight loss programs and you will get MUCH quicker results and firm up too!

Does zumba work for weight loss and toning ?

1) Women's body's don't produce enough testosterone to become really big, usually female bodybuilding have to inject themselves with testosterone(steriods) and train a special way to achieve that amount of muscle. - In otherwords it's really hard for a woman to get tha big without knowing what she is doing.

2) Does it work? Yeah if you are not eating too much, you can eat enough calories to offset your hard work.

3) Are the weights normal and heavy? Most likely they will use low weight with high rep ranges to maximize calorie burn using a method cause depletion training. It is mostly cardio with muscle development ot maximize the energy expenditure and achieve greater weight loss.

Does yoga help with weight loss?

Yes It is. I lost 3 Kgs in less than a month. It worked out for me in an effective manner. I even hit 108 per day, and the change is very visible. You can start with minimum 7 rounds per day and gradually increase the count.  I used to pursue running and sometimes gym and sometimes diet. But this time i didnt care about anything, In fact i increased my Carb loading. The change was phenomenal and u can feel it along the day after workout, all the muscles in active state.Before you start any weight loss program, you should know there are about 3,500 calories in 1 pound of fat. S0, you need to reduce your daily calories by 250 to 500 in order to achieve ½ to 1 pound of weight loss per week. I am joining gym for weight loss & body toning. What should be my initial routine?

Lose weight before i tone my body?

well u should do toning weight lifting excerises 3 times a week...than 3-5 times a week do cardio...

for cardio run, swim or jog or whatever kind of cardio u do...do it hard and fast...u lose calories when u heart rate is up...

for example if u run for 20 minutes...or walk for an hr...running for 20 minutes will help u lose more weight...or calories...

weight lifting for toning purposes helps with weight loss...it burns that area that u are working out...

for example if u are doing a squat it will burn calories in the leg area(quads, hamsrtrings, and glutes)...

for toning do an excerise for each muscle...do that excerise 20-22 reps...and do 2 sets...

Shoulders-shoulder press
biceps-hammer curls
triceps-dips
chest-cable crossover or bench press
abs-crunches
legs-squat, lunges, calf raises
upper back-pullups
lower back-back extensions

make sure u eat well or this will be for NOTHING...

cut down on sugar,salt...

no fast food, no fried foods, no soda, alcohol...

drink lots of water...eat vegetables, take ur vitamins...
