Well Done To Those Who Are Losing Weight

How much weight can I lose over summer?

The month of May is starting to roll around and I have finally became fed up with my weight. I start my junior year in high school in August and I would really love to lose some weight over the summer. I am almost 16 and I weigh about 280 lbs. I'm morbidly obese, obviously, and I really want to get my life together and change all of my habits. I have all of May, June, July, and August to really work on this. I know that I will need to continue to stay and eat healthy after August, but I want to know how much weight I could lose. Does anyone know the healthy amount? How much have you lost in 4 months? Do you have any exercise recommendations? Are there and healthy flushes or home remedies that have really helped you lose more weight fast? I could use all the help I can get! Thank you!

I have cut off sugars from my diet. I am losing weight but my complexion is also turning dull. Why is it so?

Good that you are progressing on your weight loss goals. I appreciate your decision of quitting on sugars and well done on increasing your water intake as well. You have taken all the right decisions but I would want to point some gaps and I wish those would help you out.As you loose weight, you loose fats around your face too, it makes your face bony..skelital kind of look. You mentioned that you are under the sun most of the time which might have given you some tan as well. You also mentioned that you consume just fruit thus you get necessary fiber and vitamins. Whats happening with this diet is that you are loosing on benefits of essential fats and carbohydrates. These are very vital nutrients that your body needs to produce energy. Avoiding fats and carbs completely will make you feel tired throughout the day and that reflects on your face first. When you completely cut on sugar..your body starts reacting. Your body may not handle this sudden change and you might feel dizzy at times. Quitting sugar is a gradual process. Slowly make changes. Let your body get use to all the changes. Medical consultation is highly recommended on this diet.Major reason why your face is appearing dull is because your body is craving for energy and it is getting less than what it needs. I would highly recommend that you consult your doctor and take his advice and get an update on your health status. Furthermore follow a balanced diet with all the required macro nutrients. You should plan to live a healthy lifestyle rather than getting skinny. Hope you make the right decisions with your weight loss plan and good luck.Tip: grow a beard for some time..see if it looks good on your face.

Is it okay to continue smoking while losing weight?

I was in your shoes so I totally understand. Thumbs up on your courage and will to change your life. It is a myth that one must gain weight when quitting. If anything, quitting smoking allowed me to drop those extra 10 pounds because I had less sugar (didn't feel the need to constantly sip drinks with the cigarettes), I had the endurance to workout more, AND, I realized that smoking actually makes you fatter at the mid section (stomach, love handles, etc) plus it makes your whole body sag. Yikes. I suspect this idea of not quitting now because I don't want to ruin my weight loss is no more than a self-defense mechanism: your brain, hijacked by the addiction, is playing a trick on you. It is giving you what seems to be a logical reason to carry on smoking and thus getting the drug. My advice to you, when you get that little urge to quit smoking, dodge the bullet and just go for it. Just don't replace cigarettes with sweets/carbs junk etc, and you will be fine. I would even say quitting smoking is a higher priority:  by doing it you will get so much self confidence and self respect that there will be no way you'd fail at losing weight or anything else you decide to do from that point on.

Do people lose weight in prison?

HERE’S WHO CAN LOSE WEIGH:As with people on “"the outside”, people “inside” can make lifestyle changes to facilitate weight loss.OPTIMAL SCENARIO FOR PRISON WEIGHT LOSS:If a person is housed in the general population of a prison, they will have a lot of recreational time daily and exercise equipment that they can access. Many institutions even have a variety of fitness she's that are scheduled. They will also have more food choices. They will be likely to have a consistent daily routine and the tools to maintain it.HERE’S WHO WILL GAIN SIGNIFICANT WEIGH:I'm answering this question with the specific parameter related to inmate housing; a factor in WEIGHT GAIN:If an inmate/detainee is in a Protective Custody single person cell, (which is equivalent to the SHU- Solitary Housing Unit), their movements are so exceptionally restricted, and they (on average) are only allowed out of their cell confines for 20 minutes daily, typically using this time to shower and/or use the phone, and they don't have access to a recreational “yard”, (or similar exercise facility), THEREFORE the exceptionally minimal activity level COMBINED WITH the horrible and unhealthy food- which is-*DELIBERATELY LOADED with high carbohydrates and fats, leads to excessive weight gain in both men and women, (although I have seen this more with women).*This is done throughout many US County Jails who hold inmates/detainees while they are fighting their cases in court, (a lengthy process due to the backlogged courts), as well as with inmate/detainees serving a jail sentence on 2 years or less.People housed in these particular units are terribly neglected, but their maltreatment claims fall of deaf ears BECAUSE they are SO HEAVY from the awful food- it gives a false impression that they are well taken care of. Many CO’s I know will openly admit that too.NOTE: State and Federal Prison conditions are much more humane and geared for the long term than County Jails. The Prisons have better, higher quality food and more fresh fruits and vegetables available as well as a vast and lower priced commissary for food purchases. If you wanted to buy something healthy from commissary in a County Jail, a small container of tuna fish is $4.25 USD. The same purchase at the Prison commissary is closer to.50 cents.

How much weight does steak lose after being cooked?

Usually, the bigger the piece of meat (beef in this case), the more it loses (proportionately) as it cooks. A 5-pound roast, for example, can lose up to 20 percent of its weight if it's roasted in a hot oven. Most restaurants that sell roast beef (cooked on the premises) use a slow-roasting method; low-temperature cooking, for a long period of time. This prevents them from losing (up to) 20 percent of their product through evaporation.

A steak--even a huge one--cooks relatively quickly, over a very hot grill or griddle. You could probably count on a 72-ounce steak losing about 10 percent of its weight. It may be less than that, depending on how much bone (if any) is present in the steak.

I am trying to lose weight I want my belly button pierced here soon should I drop the weight 1st or just go?

You could get it now if you wanted. However, I would use this as motivation. When you reach your weight loss goal, go get your belly button pierced! This could be your reward for a job well done!! A piercing could migrate no matter how much you weigh, it just your body's way of trying to push a foreign object out. Not saying this will happen to you(it didn't happen to me) but it does to some people. Good luck with your weight loss!
