Is $1750 monthly quite enough to live in Phoenix, AZ?

I don't know if $1750 is quite enough to live anywhere in the U.S comfortably as an average citizen.   At Phoenix, AZ - Forbes  the 2014 median income is reported as $53,270, which is more than double the $21,000 you mention. Phoenix is on par with the national median, which is $53,891 according to  CNN's Median income is on the rise ... finally! As of January, 2015 the average rent is $1003 in Phoenix, Phoenix Rent Trends. The last time I lived there in 2008 there were other areas in the Valley where you could find an apartment for less than $1000 but that wouldn't leave much for food, utilities, etc.If you are living comfortably now on $1750 a month, though, I don't see that your standard of living would be that much different in Phoenix, so if you are attracted to the lifestyle there and have employment prospects I would say go for it, why not? It's a great place to live.(Thanks for asking, Matthew.)

What is the best country with average living/traveling costs to visit for a 3–4 week trip to see beautiful scenery?

Let’s me introduce to you this amazing place. It has pretty much everything you can ask for about natural sceneries. This place is California, the home of Quora and tech industry. I know you are asking for a country with low cost of living; but let’s hear me out.First, if you like forest; we have Red Wood national park. Then, we will take you to Napa Valley to sip some of the best wine in the world while enjoying the beautiful vineyardThen, we will go to Tahoe for a swim in the crystal clear water. You can also enjoy winter sport here because 1960 Winter Olympic was hosted here. After that, let’s take a road trip through Eastern Sierra where you can see the Fall Color tour. Also, there are natural outdoor hotsprings here; so let’s pampering our skin with natural mineral while having a beer and watching the milky way. (I do that all the time and it is free)We can never miss Yosemite when we are here. There are so many things to see in Yosemite national park; I can fill the entire answer with it.Also, if you are an advantageous person; I will take you to the the Mt Whitney hike. Mt Whitney is 14000 feet; we will see snow up there in the middle of summer.Too cold and too much? Let’s head to a desert- the Dead Valley. We can cook some eggs here without fire; also, it is known for rolling rocks. Now lets head to the Coastline if you are into it. I introduce to you the iconic Highway 1.This is my personal favorite place, Haft Moon Bay.Then we can head back to Quora headquarter or Mountainview from here; It is not that far.All these above pictures are from Google.I may be cover around less than 20% of California (I have not said anything about So Cal yet). And California is only one state; we have 51 more states to offer. I have not met anyone in US dare to say they have seen it all. Now, for the cost, US is not cheap, and California is definitely expensive. However, the cost to travel to those natural area is very affordable. You can rent a small car in US for around $10 per day. A camp site is around $10-$15 per night; and they are very nice. ( I do those trips all the time, and I am not rich).

Moving across country?

So i am thinking about moving across the country (from pa to az), and i am fairly young, 21 to be exact. what things will i need to consider and how much money would be needed to save for this kind of move. i do have some relatives out there that will let me stay while i get on my feet, but i dont wanna go there and realize i dont have enough money. what is the minimum wage out there and the quality of jobs for some one with no degree, vs the cost of living? maybe i should jus stay where i am but i hate the winter. pls help

California VS. Arizona Cost of Living.?

If you have a job lined up you will fare better in Arizona. I know first hand what you get in California vs what you get in AZ. I'm from both Buckeye, AZ and San Diego. In SD I get a 2br apartment in Pacific Beach for $1600 per month. In Buckeye I live in a 7 br. two story home with an attached 3 car garage about 4,500 SF for $1400 per month and it's less than six years old. You can get a smaller version of the same new house for $900 per month and that's a 4br.

Wages are a little less, but that really depends upon what skills you have. Your vehicle registration is about 1/2 of CA. Your drivers license lasts many times longer in AZ because you pay onetime and don't have to renew it every four years. Gasoline is always cheaper in AZ. If you play golf then you will love the green fees in AZ. A 100+ dollar green fee in CA for a nice course can be played in AZ. for $29. Surprisingly cigarettes in CA are about two dollars a pack less than AZ. Beer and booze is about the same price. Your electric bill in the summer may be higher, but that depends where abouts in California you are currently living. The heating bills in the winter in AZ are dirt cheap because the newer houses are so well insulated.

It's your call to make because it's your money. I personally prefer Arizona over California, but business and family require that I split my time between the two.

The traffic in AZ is so much lighter unless you live in the east valley area, then it sort of reminds me of I-5 in San Diego at rush hour. When I work in the west valley here I enjoy commuting surrounded by cotton fields, goats and cows. The open landscaping I think is what I like most about Arizona.

How long does a solar panel take to pay for itself?

Are you talking about a single panel or a whole system? Since a panel can't work without an inverter, you have to also consider that cost, so you might as well add a few more panels (we'll call it a "solar installation") and take advantage of government incentives (if they exist in your area). The short answer to the question of how long it takes for a solar installation to pay for itself is "it depends." The three biggest things it depends on are the cost of the system, the cost of electricity, and the availability of rebates or other monetary incentives. In the United States, payback times for a 5-kW solar installation range from 4 to about 20 years. Hawaii has the shortest payback, simply because it has the highest electricity costs. States with mid-level electricity costs but great incentives like Massachusetts, Connecticut, or New Jersey have 6-to-8-year payback timeframes. The cost of installing solar in the US has been falling steadily for years, and has recently reached a level of about $4 USD/W of solar panels installed. Electricity in the US averages $0.13 c/kWh, but gets as high as $0.24 cents/kWh on the mainland (Hawaii is an outlier at about $0.52 c/kWh because many of its electric generation is done by burning petroleum-based fuels). The number one biggest incentive in the United States is called the Investment Tax Credit (ITC). The federal government will offer 30% of the costs of installing a soar panel system back to homeowners as a direct income tax credit. The credit expires at the end of 2016, and once it does, you can add about 4 years on to any calculation of payback time. The costs of installing solar in other parts of the world are highly variable. Many companies in southeast Asia manufacture solar panels which are sold directly to governments and businesses in the surrounding area, especially China.

Which city is more expensive, Los Angeles or Seattle?

The average home in Los Angeles is $91,600 cheaper than the average home in Seattle. Energy consumption in Los Angeles is one of the lowest in the country due to the mild and consistent weather. I never paid more than about $150 bimonthly for electricity and all other utilities including telephone, gas, water, sewage and trash in Los Angeles, whereas in Florida we are paying between $320 and $490 per month, just for electricity, depending on the weather and how often we open the windows. Seattle average is around $150 a month just for electricity. Besides groceries everything else is mostly a wash.$5,795.38 monthly cost of living in Los Angeles equals $5,800 in Seattle. Like I said, basic items like groceries are noticeably less expensive in Los Angeles, especially when shopping for fresh foods. However, when you add up all COL figures, Seattle is slightly nore expensive than Los Angeles. Categorically, you are going to notice significant discrepancies, but it works both ways. For all intents and purposes, for the average person and family, it’s the same. If you want to pick and choose, you could make a case for either location being more expensive than the other.
