Is north america stolen land?

Colonialism is the extension of a nation's sovereignty over territory beyond its borders by the establishment of either settler colonies or administrative dependencies in which indigenous populations are directly ruled or displaced. Colonizers generally dominate the resources, labor, and markets of the colonial territory and may also impose socio-cultural, religious and linguistic structures on the conquered population; this has led critics of colonialism to call it cultural imperialism. However, though colonialism is often used interchangeably with imperialism, the latter is broader as it covers control exercised informally (via influence) as well as formally. The term colonialism also refers to a set of beliefs used to legitimize or promote this system, especially the ethnocentric belief that the mores of the colonizer are superior to those of the colonized. Such beliefs are often a form of racism, and were codified as pseudo-scientific theories at the end of the 19th century. The historical phenomenon of Colonisation is one that stretches around the globe and across time, including such disparate peoples as the Hittites, the Incas and the British. European colonisation may be broadly divided into two large waves, the first one starting with the "Age of Exploration" and the beginning of the Columbian Exchange, and the second one beginning in the second part of the 19th century with the New Imperialism period. Colonisation and decolonisation have overlapped themselves, since most of the New World colonies had already acquired their independence when the scramble for Africa and the New Imperialism began. However, many authors argue that colonialism doesn't end with the decolonisation, largely achieved in the 1960s apart from the Portuguese colonies: neocolonialism is a form of continuing colonialism by other means, while postcolonialism refers to the legacy of colonialism on the "subaltern subjects", as Gayatri Spivak has put it.

Which countries were part of the British Empire?

There is an expression, "The sun never sits on the British Empire" which is still true today, although the British Empire has lost most of its power.

America was part of the British Empire, but gained independence in the 1770s and became the United States of America. Canada remained a part of the British Empire and to this day is still part of the British Commonwealth.

Australia was claimed by the British empire under terra nullis - a latin term which literally means unoccupied land. It was, of course, already owned by the Aboriginal race, but the British refused to acknowledge this and literally took the country over, sending convicts to fill all colonies except for South Australia, which was occupied by free settlers. Australia voted to remain a part of the Commonwealth and to recognise the British monarchy as their head of state in 1999.

New Zealand, like Australia is part of the British Commonwealth.

Hong Kong was a part of the British Empire for most of the 20th century until 1997 when it was returned to its previous owners, China.

Burma and India were also part of the British Empire, but gained Independence at the conclusion of World War 2.

Israel was created as a new country by the British at the conclusion of World War 2. Since then it has been an independent country. The creation of this country has caused many, many problems particularly with the Palestinians who feel that they lost their land. Ownership of the Gaza Strip is of particular concern.

Ireland was originally part of the British Empire but fought hard for independence.

South Africa was thrown out of the British Empire due to racist policies such as apartheid.

Many other African nations were also part of the British Empire, most notably Rhodesia which is now known as Zimbabwe.

The Forkland Islands were part of the British Empire and subject to a war over ownership in the 1980s.

There are probably others which I have forgotten but I hope this helps.

Why the British Empire was worse than the Nazis?

There's just no end to how English speaking people in USA and Britain can fool themselves into thinking they weren't as bad as the Nazis. They were worse because they continue to lie about it and rationalize the evil they perpetrated. The most recent was the USA's invasion of Iraq where they are estimated to have murdered over 100,ooo civilians under the excuse that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and when that lie didn't work Bush claimed the US was liberating Iraq. Is that why the people shot back? Because they were liberated. As for ethnic cvleansing the US did plenty of that. They can't even put a number to the many native Americans they murdered, especiall in their trek west. The act there was to clear the native Americans so that they could settle the land and move American settlers to the area formerly occupied by the native Americans. Hitler's got nothing on those people. Murder the native population then move your people in. Sound familiar? The Brits did the same thing to the aboriginal people in Austyralia and the Maoris in New Zealand. That was just for starters. In World War II the American and British air forces went after the German civilians on purpose. They studied German city alyout and found that many of the buildings in the town centers were made of wood. They bombed those on purpose to start the firestorms that claimed many innocent people. Hamburg, Dresden were good examples of the relentless fire-bombing. They dropped 1,000 times the bombs that the Germans dropped on England and the Soviet Union.

Some of you people say the Brits weren't so bad since they only engaged in the slave trade a short time. If that isn't airheaded rationalization I don't know what is. There are no numbers on how many slaves died en route to their "paradise". Hundreds of thousands of Chinese were worked to death to buld the rail lines to the West in USA. No one seems to remember that. It's always the same rubbish about the Nazis over and over again. By now everyone knows the history so how about we look in the mirror at our English-speaking selves?

Britain enslaved half the planet as colonies. Are you all really naive enough to believe that they treated the subjegated people nicely? Get real. Wake up. You've been lying to yourselves long enough.
