Nothing is wrong with mahindra centuro. Centuro's booking is going so fast in the two wheeler's market. 30,000 booking in 6 weeks only (source - overdrive, xbhp), Other brands like hero, honda, bajaj, yamaha etc. was not expecting this warm welcome of centuro from the common man. Bike is only 45,000 Rs. with 5 years warranty. centuro has many unique features like central lock, 128-bit key, remote flip key, find me lamp and many other features. Is it worth to buy a Mahindra Centuro secondhand bike costing Rs. 24,000 and it has been driven for 29,000 kilometers?

Get a test ride, check for any abnormal behaviour in the Bike, like acceleration, brake and clutch, power and torque, any clattering sound, handle position and orientation, any leakage, oil level, tyre condition and tyre rim association, electric equipments, go step by step, and also ask the owner for service and insurance history. These steps will help you calculate the risk of the investment. Thanks

Why do Mahindra launch scooters instead of bikes at first?

Because scooters sell in more numbers and brings money for R&D to make bikes.Just to give perspective Honda sells Activa close to 2 lakh in a month while they sell 150 cc bikes less than 40,000 per month.

I want to buy a bike. I want a bike that has better mileage, durability, good looks and having less maintenance cost. Which bike I should go for?

Go for Saluto 125 ...I have done a lot of research before buying my bike .I know whats goes on in the mind of a consumer before he chooses for a bike....I purchased Yamaha Saluto 125 cc dusc brake version in November 2016 after much consideration among Honda Shine , Hero Glamour ,TVS Sport and Suzuki Slingshot. Unfortunately you wont find Yamaha advertising or promoting this bike on print media or through TV commercials(only God Knows why?)Saluto 125 offers the best in class mileage among its peers. In a city with better roads and not so congested traffic, you would get 60kmpl.When I drove my Saluto on the busy streets of Hyderabad and I was blown away with its looks and performance. It is the best among all 125 cc bikes in India.Since I have driven the Shine SP earlier, the biggest problem is its chain gets loose after 2 years. In a city like Hyderabad , Shine SP gives a mileage of 45 as compared to saluto125’s mileage of 55.The pros: 1)awesome ride quality for congested city roads…superior control because of disk brakes 2)No1 in looks , I have the latest metallic green with yellow stripes 3)Awesome pick up …a self start that never fails 4)best in class mileage …55kmpl after 1st servicing 5)reliable suspension plus six years engine warranty 6)very smooth gear transition (as compared to Shine, I test drove Shine also)The cons: 1→bit thinner rear tyres 2→plastic quality could be improved 3→a 5th gear would have made it just terrific,,,,,,i have been using saluto 125…its a terrific bike. Yamaha marketing team's strategy is not at all proactive. I never heard of Saluto before till the day when I walked into an Yamaha Showroom and this bike stole my attention.

I am looking to buy a mileage bike. I have three in mind: a Yamaha Saluto, a Honda Shine, and a Mahindra Centuro. Which one do I go for?

You can take Saluto off from your list. Agreed that it's a Yamaha bike and Yamaha is awesome, let's give them some more time to think of better commuter bikes for India.Centuro is very good but in a way the power is not enough. With the launch of new Bajaj discover bikes, people are asking for more power even in commuter segment. Though it had a locking system which no other bike in the segment has, it doesn't make the bike go any faster. You wouldn't want to feel desperate for more power after you have made an investment.Of your choices, shine seems to be a sensible option. It looks decent enough and has good power. Of course, it's a Honda engine and is obviously reliable. But looking at your options, I feel confused.Centuro is one of the cheapest bikes around.Saluto is a mid range bike.Shine is more expensive at 73k...You sure have a wide budget. You could also have a look at Bajaj discover 150S or discover 125T..Of the three, go for Shine.Sometimes you gotta look beyond specs on paper.
