What are legal pets in India?
I can't confirm about the allowed pets. But the pets which are not allowed are wild and endangered animals. But i am not stating they are legal or illegal to keep.I have observed following animals as general pets:1. Parrot - Caging parrots is against the law: Activists - The Times of India2. Albino mouse & Guinea pigs3. Rabbits and rodents4. Dogs, but with some terms by court. Such as proper cleaning, maintainence, check up, etc.5. Cats6. Fishes, except the extinct ones7. Birds like parrots8. Pigs9. Hens10. Cows11. Horses, ponies, and domestic asses.12. Goats & lambs13. Buffalo (0xes)14. CamelsAdd more animals you know, i have these much in my mind now. And comment if anything is wrong above, i will edit it, please state the source too.Turtles & tortoises of Indian origin are banned. Some forms of parakeets are illegal.Thanks for A2A Swapnil
Where can I buy exotic pets in India legally?
Satyabrata Dash, your answer was totally wrong- geckos are very much banned in all parts of India. And iguanas … please, do some research work before informing people.They are certainly banned in India.I have live in Kolkata, India for 5 years and I know what exactly are legal( as I am an animal activist and law enforcer).BIRDS: Budgies, love birds, palm cockatoos, cockatiels, finches, African grey parrots and macaws are some of the common legal birds in India. African grey parrots,macaws,love birds and palm cockatoos being the exotic ones.TURTLES:Though all native species are banned but a few like the red eared slider and the green sliders are legal.ANIMALS: The common ones are pig , ponies,asses,dogs,cats,cows,goat and sheep while the exotic ones being zebras, elephant,cotton top tamarin monkey and some selective ones.I hope this article was helpfull for you.
