How do you deposit money into your Bank of America checking account?

Within most BOA branches, each teller has a keypad next to it. Bank of America asks each customer to swipe either their ATM card or their drivers license in order for the Teller to access your accounts and to verify that it is the account owner (or joint owner). Once you swipe the card, they can then take your deposit (w/slip although I've noticed not all Tellers require it now) and process your deposit into your account.

If the branch is not open, you can use the ATM machine. Note that BOA has upgraded their ATM programs at most ATM machines in California. Now you no longer need deposit slips or envelopes (if doing a cash deposit). In fact, you can get a copy of the check image at the ATM machine at the time of deposit which I have found handy. For cash deposits, it will categorize by bill size how much your total deposit is. I love the receipt when I do a cash deposit as it tells me exactly how much I put in by denomination.
Just make sure the ATM is marked for all transactions. I recently noticed that some machines are set for specific set of transactions or languages. You can see this at the top of the machine (at least at one of my main branches I use I've noticed this.) so maybe not all machines are equal at present.
I would check with the Bank Branch customer service if you're not sure.

Hope this helps !

Given remote check depositing, how do banks keep a check from being cashed  multiple times?

To an extent, they don’t.Banks that keep a database of check numbers deposited also reference the routing number of the bank the check is drawn on and the account the check is deposited into. If they just checked the check number, it would be highly ineffective as there are thousands of check #234 deposited every day. What you would need to do is make the deposit at different institutions. There isn't really any effective way for banks to prevent you from depositing the same check multiple times at various different institutions. Some banks require you to endorse the check in a particular way such as "For Mobile Deposit Only at Bank A", but there are various very easy methods to defeat this security feature. Even if you don't try to neutralize that feature, it's still unlikely to hinder successful attempts to redeposit the item at a different bank. In the vast majority of banks offering RDC, there is no human involvement in the check clearing process. Given that many banks don't even place deposit holds on deposited items for some of their customers, fraud is not unheard of.Sooner or later, though, all but one of those checks will bounce and the ones left holding the bag will start looking for you. There may likely be criminal charges brought against you. If the money is still in your bank account, they will do an offset. Some banks, though, trust some customers and do not put holds on check deposits. If the bank has nothing to offset the shortage from, they will come looking for you. Also, it is highly likely that if they have to look for you and are unable to easily find you, they will report the bad debt to the credit bureaus. Further, they almost certainly will report the initial bounced check incident to specialized credit reporting agencies that maintain records on how you’ve managed your bank accounts. One such agency is Chex Systems. If you are in that database, it may be very difficult for you to open up a bank account in the future.

What does "ISO" mean in regards to camera settings?

Short versionISO on a digital camera is a measure of how light sensitive your image sensor is. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive your sensor is. The more sensitive your sensor is, the brighter your image gets.ISO stands for International Organisation for Standardization, which is an organisation that sets international standards.ISO was originally used to measure how light sensitive a photographic film was. The higher the ISO, the more light the film captured. Films that had a higher ISO rating were called fast films. This was because it allowed people to shoot with a higher shutter speed (capture fast moving subjects effortlessly). Films that were less light sensitive were called slow films. After the advent of digital cameras, the same standard was used to measure the light sensitivity of the image sensor. ISO values can range from 25 to 40,000.In both digital and film photography, the use of higher sensitivities results in reduced image quality. The higher the ISO, the grainier the image will be (check image noise). This is the reason why low light situations are not best shot with a consumer grade cameras and lenses. If you have to lower the ISO for better pictures in low light, you will have to shoot with a lower shutter speed which leaves you to deal with camera shake, subject movement, etc. For static subjects, you can hack it with a tripod. But for street or indoor situations or wherever there is call for shooting a moving subject in low light, you will have to compromise on one or the other.High ISO performance is a major factor on which a camera's price depends on.Light-demanding situations can also be handled with what are called fast lenses. These lenses have a wide open maximum aperture that lets more light hit the sensor and thereby lets you cut down on ISO. Thus, you get less noise on your pictures. And hence, better image quality. This is why these lenses are generally highly priced. With all the hype for high ISO performance in new cameras, you can also work your way around and figure out creative ways to use image noise. Photographers like Sarah Moon and Robert Farber used high speed film and grain to create beautiful, evocative images in the seventies.Grain is beautiful.SOURCES:Wikipediahttp://www.picturecorrect.com/ti...

Chase bank and cashier's checks?

I wouldn't cash it. I would just deposit it and wait a day or 2 for the funds to clear so that you can start using the money for the things you need for your wedding. How exciting is that!!!!

When I got married in 2001, my mom and dad blessed us with a check for $10,000 to pay for the wedding and to start life off with a little more in the bank than they did when they got married. We just deposited the check and let it clear and never had a problem.

If you still have trouble, you can call your dad and ask him to get involved and find out why there is a problem. Large amounts of money may be subject to a hold for protection. As annoying as this can be at times understand that it really is for your protection as well as theirs.

Can you cash a Bank of New York Mellon check?

BNYM is NOT a typical banking service center. You will NEVER be able to cash a check at any facility because they are offices, not banks. I know it seems confusing since BANK is in the name. It isn't. If you have a check drawn on BNYM, please take it to your bank for deposit. The check can be verified by calling (877) 484-0859. If you do not have a bank, then you can try using a check cashing service. Depending on the amount, you may have some luck, but, I would suggest just opening an account and using the check as your initial deposit.

Buyer offering cashiers check on Craigslist $500 item... Scam?

A cashier's check is a check for guaranteed funds, meaning that the funds have already come from an account so it wouldn't bounce like a personal check. The most prominent scam with these for craigslist is when someone buys something on craigslist and sends a cashiers check to you for an amount that's larger than what they were supposed to send, asking that you take it to your bank and just send back the extra cash when you're done. The checks are usually stolen and they either print them themselves (the managed to get a cashiers check before any institution printed on it) or it is stolen after an institution makes it out to someone. If it's the second, they will usually forge a signature on the back saying that they are signing it over to you and that they just don't want to deal with taking it to the bank themselves. If anything like this were to ever happen the best option is just to take it to the police and report it... This is one reason why banks won't accept 3rd party checks anymore without having the 3rd party present while the check is being negotiated.

All that being said! If someone were to pay you in cashier's checks, it would usually be more secure than a personal check, simply because they can just write you a check that will bounce, and paying in a larger amount of cash can be frustrating or dumb, so I can understand why people do still choose to LEGITIMATELY pay by Cashier's check... IF for any reason you did that, the best thing to do is check their ID and make sure the remitter on the check is actually them, make sure it if the correct amount, and make sure it is made payable to your name exactly, not being signed over. Then I would just document their address and phone number and try keeping a large amount of contact in email form so that you can have record if you try to deposit the check and find any problems.

What do you know about Mohammed the prophet?

According to the earliest and most revered Islamic sources, Muhammad was a sexual pervert, a thief, and a terrorist. The evidence strongly implies that he not only conceived his god in his own image, his religion was imposed to satiate his lust for sex, power, and money. Confirmations of these conclusions are overwhelming and undeniable. Simply stated, according to the Islamic scriptures, Muhammad was the most repulsive, and thus the least qualified, divine messenger in human history.

Hackers: How can I get started with hacking?

Before I go on, I agree with Abbas Naderi that the most reliable path into being a successful “hacker” is a strong education in computer science coupled with coursework specifically in security (and I’d add cryptography). But I want to draw a huge line in the sand and strongly disagree on one key point:Yes, you're right. Hacking is fucking awesome. It's not what you see in the movies or on TV (that's not Mr. Robot who employs real infosec researchers as advisors). You don't sit for hours “hacking” some guy or defending a system like Acid Burn fighting Zero Cool for control over th public access channel. But you are in a field where you get to obsess over the bleeding edge of technology - and wonder how you can break it. If you get into Red Team work, pen testing, or even the amazing world of research you even get to do some of that breaking yourself. You get paid to spend the rest of your life learning and fighting an ever changing adversary: a world that's constantly changing and increasingly critical to defending our way of life. That's dope.So yes, hacking is awesome. And you should embrace how awesome it is, and the passion you have for it, to get ahead.Particularly in the extremely competitive fields of infosec research, passion and extracurricular work is essential for success. So in addition to a rigorous CS curriculum, supplement your education with internships in the field. Work on and commit to open source projects. Play with tools like Metaploit and BroIDS.Get experience. Develop opinions. And get involved. Go to your regional 2600 and gush about how broken OpenSSL is. Go to Defcon and vibe with other people who are passionate about security.Hacking is awesome. Security is awesome. Use your passion - along with a great fundamental education in CS - and you'll find your way into security. This stuff is awesome. Never lose hold of your passion. Don't get cynical* and keep at it.*- Except if we’re talking about the state of OpenSSL.

What is an example in IT of bad data in, corrupt data out that has led to important incorrect decisions being implemented?

I witnessed a recent case. A front end application requires backend access to a legacy system. This is provided by an API. Midway through the project the API encounters a change. This change causes the front end application to return an error. This is the proper behavior for the front end which is to reject malformed transactions and log them. Some developers quickly assume the fault was their own and try to see what is wrong with their code. After hours of troubleshooting, they get an Eureka moment and realize that is that was the API behaving differently.
