Pronounciation and meaning of Hakuouki?

So I've been watching this anime for a while now but I don't know how to pronounce it correctly and I would really like to know. Please explain the correct pronunciation as well as the meaning please and the Shinsengumi Kitan and Hekketsu Roku as well although its not necessary since I at least know what the shinsengumi is. Honestly it's mainly the pronunciation I care about. And on a personal side note(possible spoilers) WHAT THE HECK?!!!! Why is everyone dying seriously it's making me cry!!! I just watched episode 16 yesterday. First they kill Inoue San then Yamazaki and then they have the nerve to have Harada and Shinpachi disappear?! "We never saw them again?!" what will happen to Heisuke? And ugh wow this made me cry and feel awful.....Okita San. No. Just no. His sword just stuck in the ground, depressing just thinking about it. I totally couldn't focus during school cuz my heart hurt. They better leave Hijikata San and Heisuke alone, I'm pretty sure Saitou is safe(favorite)! And ok wow sorry for going off on a tangent but I just had to vent and I figured people on here might get it cuz I couldn't talk to my friends they'd say you're so weird, you realize they're just cartoons. But oh well if you get it you get it, if you don't you don't. Thanks for any help.

In Hakuouki anime what episode has romance in it?

In the first season Hakuōki Shinsengumi Kitan there is only hints of falling in love with chizuru like episodes 6,7, 8 (chizuru is dressed as a girl and everyone was shocked with awe at how beautiful she was) and okita, harada, heisuke and todo are hinted to hold a crush on chizuru.
In the second season is where the real romance comes in with "hugging, kissing and falling in love with Chizuru" although it is mostly Toshizo Hijikata thats doing the 'falling deeply' for Chizuru and Souji Okita is trying to reserve his feelings for her.
To get the full bloom of romance I suggest you watch all the episodes of the second season of Hakuōki Hekketsuroku because its where Hijikata starts to develop his feelings for Chizuru as more than an attendant.

What's the relation between Hakuouki and Gintama?

They are completely different! Well, plotwise anyway. Can I assume that you are familiar with both series? Because there are indeed similarities between some character names in both series.

They are based on the Shinsengumi, which is a group (like police force) that kept the peace in Kyoto during the Bakumatsu period in Japan. They really are part of Japan's history. If you would like to read more about them, below links are pretty much a good place to start.

For Gintama:
Sorachi Hideaki, the mangaka of Gintama, uses the Shinsengumi setting for his manga, but created his own story, adding in elements of science fiction and fictionalizing many of the figures from the era to create a story more to his own liking. Therefore, you will find some characters in Gintama loosely based on the real Shinsengumi members - like Hijikata Toshizou, who is the Vice Commander of the Shinsengumi during his lifetime.

For Hakuouki:
This was originally an otome game (for Playstation and Nintendo DS) that was later adapted into anime. This also loosely uses the Shinsengumi and its members as the background storyline, and actually incorporated much of the actual history of Shinsengumi - such as the Ikedaya Affair and their involvement in the Boshin War.

That's about it, I guess. To be honest, the only similarity is that they loosely based the characters/setting of the series on the Shinsengumi - hence the samurai feel. Apart from that, they are totally different.

Is Hakuouki an anime worth watching?

I watched the first season and I enjoyed it. It had a good story line and some "feelings" mixed in. It is set in an older era which I loved. I watched a few episodes of the second season but from what I watched the second season picks up the story line and I think it makes good progress. Thinking about this I need to really finish it! Life takes over and there is never enough time to watch all the animes lol
There are many pretty boys in the anime but they have good personalities and some might be more evil.. their is hinting and hoping for romance between or of the main guys and girl. Hope you do like it if you give it a watch :)

Does Hakuouki have a season 2?

Season 1 is 12 episodes, season 2 is 10 episodes, and there is one special. So it sounds like you've finished both seasons. There is also a 6 episode OVA called Hakuouki Sekkaroku.

The series isn't over yet though. There will be a third season coming out in July called "Hakuouki Reimeiroku", which is a prequel to the series. Then there are two movies planned for 2013.

What was the first anime to feature the "reverse harem" theme? Which one has been the most successful/popular?

The earliest example I am aware of is Fushigi Yuugi (The Mysterious Play), 1995. It is a romantic fantasy RH. The female protagonist, Miaka, an ordinary middle school girl, after reading a book called The Universe of the Four Gods, finds herself sucked into the book’s universe of ancient China and everyone there believes she is the prophesied priestess of Suzaku. Miaka is destined to gather the seven Celestial Warriors of the god Suzaku in order to summon Suzaku and obtain three wishes (she goes along with this because she wants to use the wishes to return home). The most successful/popular is up for debate. If proliferation is any indicator, there have been 4 seasons (with no signs of stopping) of Uta-Pri (Uta no Prince Sama) and 3 seasons of Hakuoki (among a bunch of movies and OVAs), and while I can’t say they are quality RH stories, they satisfy their target audience.
