What Are A Few Things To Make My Guinea Pig Happy

Keeping a single guinea pig happy?

When I adopted my Guinea Pig I wasn't told they needed another for company. I don't have space, funds or ability to get a 2nd guinea pig. What can I do to make sure my guinea pig stays happy?

So far I've given him several toys and more are on the way. I've also put two small stuffed animals in his cage along with mirrors. I take time to sit by his cage when I'm doing homework and stuff as well as giving him attention and floor time whenever I can. What else can I do?

Guinea Pig jumping -- scared or happy?

She was happy.
My guinea pigs do the exact same thing when I give them hay. The sound of bags and things that make those kinds of noise makes them jump. Like popcorn. It's really cute.
But she isn't scared. I asked my vet the same question.
If a guinea pig was scared, she wouldn't jump. That would make them stand out. She'd go hide until everything was clear.
Hope I helped

How can i make my guinea pig happy again?

Go to my You Tube site and view The towel trick

http://www.youtube.com/user/GuineaPigPer...

Wrap him in a towel just as I show you so he will feel secure and not fall out the bottom. Lie him on your chest while you watch TV, read a book or listen to music, guinea pigs love music. Set him in your lap while you are on the computer my Miya loved the sound of the keyboard and purred to it.Carry him about the house while you do your day, guinea pigs adore doing your day with you. Talk softly to him and pet the towel thus you are petting him through the towel.

These are just a few of the things you do daily you can invite him to join you while you do them, it gives him all the love and attention he needs to keep his mind off his now gone cage mate so he will now bond to you instead. He will be a very happy and healthy guinea pig that will very quickly want to be with you all the time and will be excited to see you come into the room. What I think is exciting is you achieved this simply by inviting him into your daily routines and did not have to make any extra time for him!!

Would my guinea pig be happy to hear other guinea pig sounds on Youtube or would it make it more lonely?

Is your guinea pig alone? If so, please do consider adopting a friend for it (of the same gender, unless it’s spayed or neutered) as guinea pigs are social animals and do a lot better with a companion of the same species. I have three girls and they’re a lot of fun to have together. Some of my guinea pigs react to other guinea pig noises from the computer, and others don’t respond. I think how your guinea pig responds depends on their personality and the noise they hear. If they hear another guinea pig in distress, that could make them stressed. If they’re territorial, they may be consider hearing another guinea pig to be a challenge to their turf. Most likely they’ll be curious or indifferent about the noises. I don’t think hearing the noises would affect whether or not it’s lonely—being alone will make it feel lonely.

What can guinea pigs eat?

A guinea pigs diet should consist of:- 60% Hay: For adult guinea pigs, recommended hays are Timothy, Orchard, Oaten, and Meadow. Baby or pregnant guinea pigs should be fed Lucerne as it is higher in calcium, which makes it unsuitable for adult guinea pigs as the high levels of calcium can lead to stones. Hay is extremely important in a guinea pigs diet and must be available 24/7.- 40% Fresh vegetables (and some fruits), grass, and water. Guinea pigs LOVE fresh grass! And it is full of nutrition. If you are going to cut some for your guinea pigs, just make sure it is not near a busy road or has been sprayed with pesticides. Some great vegetables to feed your guinea pigs:- Capsicum -Cucumber- Lettuce (Butter, cos, red and green leaf, oak; just do not feed iceberg lettuce!)- Carrot- Tomato/cherry tomato (stalks and leaves are poisonous so be careful)- Fennel- Celery- Broccoli, cauliflower, Bok-choy (these foods can cause bloat so feed sparingly)- Kale, Radicchio, and EndiveOf course there are many more vegetables you can feed, check out this page for a more comprehensive list: Vegetables and Fruits Safe for Guinea Pigs To Eat – The Happy Cavy “Snack” ListFruits can also be fed sparingly (guinea pigs love them!) as they are high in sugar:-Banana-Strawberry (and raspberries, blueberries, etc.)- Apple- Mandarin/orange- And many more!Good quality pellets (such as Oxbow or Burgess) can also be fed as 5% of their diet, however lots of guinea pig owners choose the HAFF diet (hay and vegetables, no pellets) as it 'increases muscle mass and eliminates certain bad quality ingredients from a cavies diet such as an excess of fats. This diet is the most natural, free from processed foods, and it closely resembles the nutritional make up of what a cavy would eat in the wild, making it a fresh and healthy alternative' (source: Guinea Pigs Australia - Nutrition)Hope I have helped!

How can I make my guinea pig more active and happy?

All of my guinea pigs have always run away from me when I reached into the cage. It's nothing personal, it's just that they're prey animals and so they run from things coming toward them. Once you get her out of the cage just sit with her and feed her some veggies. Gently talk to her and let her get used to you.

If you have a pet store cage then it is probably too small. A big C&C cage will give her plenty of room to run around. You'd be surprised at how much more active and happy guinea pigs are with room to move. My pig runs laps around the cage.

Is guinea pig "wheeking" noise a HAPPY noise or not?

I have a friend who has had a guinea pig for almost a year now. I just met it a few days ago. She is convinced that when they making a "wheeking" noise, it means that they're happy. Having never seen a guinea pig before I figured she was right, but after I actually saw the thing making that noise, it seemed more like a frightened noise. It made that noise when she tried to pull it out of the cage and when she was holding it. It made the same noise when it was hungry. I am just curious if that strange noise really is a "happy" sound.

Should i make a jungle gym for my guinea pigs?

I mean like make a wooden cage but seprate and smaller and put obsticles in it like climb up a wooden slanted platform go through a tunnel and stuff like that. I would do that because my guinea pig is very shy and doesnt like to see people. So she is not active.
