It does help if you give a little information on yourself. Are you a kid in school, are you a retiree? Traveling with family? Are you in Bangkok to do some shopping for resale back home? Do you need to be near Pratunam shopping? Are you traveling with several other young guys who plan on sharing the cost of single hotel room?

Khao San Road doe appeal to many young travelers who want to be around other young travelers. You will find hotels in your price range. But in the Khao San Road area you will not be able to use the cheap rail service because there are no rail stops in that area!

You will also find cheap hotels in the Sukhumvit Road Nana area too. You will also be able to walk to nightlife, walk to restaurants and supermarkets and also walk to the Nana Skytrain stop.

There is rail service from the airport to the city. Some hotels are not far from the rail system and you can walk to your hotel. Some in Pratunam, Siam, Sukhumvit and Silom.

If I book a hotel at Expedia and choose to pay later at the hotel, do I get charged for cancellation?

Here's an industry secret….when you use the book later option, use your credit card number, but a totally different expiration date. That way if you do have to cancel and they say no you past the deadline and you have to pay the cancellation fee, just say….ok. The card won't process because it's invalid due to the expiration date. You can always change your method of payment upon arrival. Shh….don't tell that secret.

How do sites like booking.com operate? Do they have hotel rooms reserved in all hotels around the world?

No, OTAs like Booking .com or Expedia, VRBO gets local hoteliers inventories listed on their sites. These OTAs gets hundreds of visitors every day who are looking for rooms online & as these OTAs are leading the travel & tourism business, local hoteliers list their available inventories( rooms) into these sites. They get more bookings from these OTAs but they have to share their profit with them for each booking they got from these sites. Moreover, these sites frequently increase their percentage and hoteliers are bound to pay them the increased amount as they get bookings from them. But things have changed and hoteliers are now concentrating on commission-free direct bookings. Hoteliers are using online booking engine iRoomi into their own websites to increase more direct bookings and grow their business faster. You can increase your direct bookings using iRoomi too and enjoy your profit completely. As you are getting these bookings directly from your own website you don't have to share the profit with any other third parties.

Where is the best place to list a rental house/office for bootstrapping startups?

First of all, you need to know the language you wish to use on various media in Thailand. Thai. So you would be better off advertising on one of the social networks in Thailand. I find that one of the most popular ones is Pantip - Learn, Share & Fun. I am looking at doing something similar for a conference I am planning in Thailand (Bangkok or Pattaya) in May 2016 for traders in the stock markets. This site is exclusively in Thai, and If not conversant in Thai, you may need to get your text translated from English. The user/usage metrics reading on this site are quite good. and the most popular site with a No.1 rating is Google  am not sure however how effective advertising on that site would be (never tried it so far) or economics. ---btw, I am from Bangalore, India, and may need an apartment in Bangkok/Pattaya for a month of two starting January 2016 for a recce for the conference for my Wife and I.  We  are looking at inexpensive options (compared to a hotel via agoda, etc) Let me know details please  if this arrangement does not clash with the 'resident office' policies, which I understand is the equivalent of society for an apartment complex in India.  - Thanks!

How reliable is Agoda for booking a hotel?

My recent experience with Agoda was not good.Recently I had made some booking through Agoda in 2 different hotels. I got confirmation for booking and Agoda deducted money also from my account. However after few days I got message from Hotel that my booking is not confirmed as rooms are sold out . I tried to reach Agoda to clarify these but unfortunately after waiting for 30 minuets I couldn’t reached Customer service officer. I tried calling them 3 continues days but same issue no one their to receive the call. Finally I called Hotel to find out why my booking Is still not confirmed. Hotel manager updated me that Agoda doesn’t upload the rates which Hotel provide them and It’s a loss for them that’s why they can’t confirm the booking. So finally I decided to cancel the booking but notice that for Cancellation the refund was not full. There was deduction of 27% which is a loss for me.Hence, I feel it’s not safe to book through Agoda and their booking confirmation is not guaranteed.

How much commission is agoda.com charging their partner hotels?

I see my fellow Quorans didn’t update their answers here. But guess what?Agoda did updated their commission rate, and now they are charging around 25% for using their platforms. And in peak seasons, they also level it up and reach a ridiculous point where they charge their partnered hotels around 30% commission fees.So if you’re thinking about using Agoda. com, then I would suggest you to come up with a fund to feed this money-sucking OTA.But hey, why the hell on earth do you want to sell your rooms through their site?I mean, you can easily create your own Hotel Booking Website and receive unlimited direct bookings without sharing your profit with any of those OTAs.You know, there are many tools like Website Builder that you can use to launch your own website in just a few minutes. This tool is not just cost-effective, but comes up with full SEO optimization services to get you leads and bookings through search engines. So instead of giving away your hard-earned money to another OTA, I would suggest you to invest in your own booking site.Check out here to learn how easily you can create a professional hotel booking website Website Builder - Build Your Booking Website And Get Unlimited Direct BookingsHope this helps…..

How safe is online hotel booking?

It is safe as shopping from Amazon.Yes sometimes, due to misunderstandings,Let me share a small story with you which happens to me during my last vacation, I booked a room from some Online travel website, the price was lesser than the price showed on any other place so I booked the room without having any kind of second thought s.So, when I reached my hotel the front desk told me that they have no idea about the bookings as they didn't receive any sort of confirmation email. They also denied having any kind of partnership with the travel website from where I booked the room.I was messed up, but however I applied for a refund on the portal and I received my refund within 5–6 days, but however, I came out of that hotel and tried to book in a new hotel, this time I decided to ignore any kind of Online travel portals.I searched google and I came across a very nice hotel and then I booked directly from there with zero hassle. They were using Bookingjini (https://bookingjini.com), so It was a very good experience as a traveler.
