What Are My Career Option After B.tech If I Want To Pursue M.tech And Then Ph.d. And Start Doing My

Military Career Options: PhD student interested in becoming an Officer (previously USAF enlisted)?

I have been considering joining the military(/Air Force) again after my graduate work is finished. I am in a PhD program for Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology and I will soon defend my Master's Degree. Briefly, I-O psychologists expertise include: Selection, retention, attitude assessment, and other workplace issues (such as, training, job analysis, stress, leadership, personality, etc). In other words, issues that are becoming increasingly important to the military.

I have been trying to find information on whether this advanced degree would 'fast-track' my career (such as, starting higher than O-1). I am particularly interested in what implications my degree would have for career advancement. I know that certain advanced degrees can lead to a Direct Commission, but not sure if mine is applicable.

In addition, my understanding is that in order to advance very far as a USAF officer, you (almost) need to have been in the Academy and/or pilot (I'm 31 and too old now).

Finally, my last year was in S. Korea on a remote tour. If I would have stayed in, I would have been able to have some choice for my home-base. Could this still be a possibility?

Is doing mtech a good option?

Higher Studies are always a good option only if you are really passionate about it. M.Tech will help you but you must promise yourself that you will study hard and score above average CGPA. Most important thing is how you develop yourself, your hardwork and the way you show your skill matters the most.M.Tech is like a stepping stone to get closer to your Phd. At first I recommend you to see what are you passionate about and what are your skills. If you are good in management side then write CAT and pursue MBA from IIM. If you are interested in engineering then go ahead and do M.Tech OR MS from IIT, NIT, BITS, MIT, RIT etc.. Mainly what will help you is the way you will develop. I mean, your CGPA should be awesome (>9). If you are an average student, company people will try to make you feel low and offer you a salary lower than B.Tech candidates. If you have a good CGPA with good skills then you can market yourself with more confidence and perhaps end up getting a huge package.Have you seen Dance Reality shows? whom do they select from audition? obviously, the ones who got skills right? So, first thing what you gotta do is: Find your goal, where do you wanna end up in? why are you gonna do M.Tech? and then research what are the skills you must develop so that you will be a perfect fit for the company/organization you wanna join.If you wanna be an actor then doing M.Tech won’t help you. If you wanna join a Software company then doing M.Tech in Civil Engineering won’t help you. Set your goal 1st, then work towards it systematically. M.Tech is a good idea but only if it will help you to reach where you wanna be after 2 years.Hope this helps. If not then, sorry bro! I tried my best :D

What is the best option for a Mechanical Engineer after a Bachelor’s in Engineering?

There are so many things you can do.But I will tell you first what not to do?Don’t do any higher education in India going for M.E/M.Tech or MBA, in India. If you want to take up a job in Industry your post graduation is almost useless 99%. You will regret this after 10 years of experience or more, which I am doing now. As far industry the number of years and the content of your experience and your achievements matter. 5 years down the line after you start work no recruiter will ever enter the educational area of your resume. It all matters only to entry into industry for the chance of campus interview whether you study in IIT or IIM and whether you are graduate/post-graduate. Later no one looks at it.If you are really interested interested in research then take GATE exam and get into premier institutes like IIT / NIT’s and sure pursue your PhD. Then you have to be clear that you are gonna start your career very late from rest of your friends. But MBA is a useless thing to do after engineering. It is a fashionable thing started few years back. But it is a baseless thing to do a technical under graduation and move onto a management career unless you found clearly engineering is not my thing and want to shift your career path from hardcore engineering. What to do?Instead of planning for a job plan for a career. To be very broad no matter what engineering you did two things are gonna rule the world from now.Energy - Alternative fuel sources, Electric carsWater - Water treatment, water structuresThis is gonna change the whole industrial world. Big oil companies are gonna lose their infrastructure and investments overnight which the oil barons are resisting and hiding to figure out how to save their ass.

Is doing M.tech after B.E is really worth?

It depends ! MTech (except in Comp. Sc, Software, Electronics) is not finding acceptance in the Indian job market. India as on date is more of a service provider nation rather than a research hub. MTech graduates from IIT’s or NIT’s find extremely hard to get the right kind of job in India. Some then have to move on to do MBA so as to become employable in the indian market. Hence, it’s more of a risk doing MTech these days.P.S. - The above statement does not applies to branches like Computer Sc, Software, electronics, Microelectronics.

Which is the better option after getting an MTech, teaching in an engineering college or getting a PhD?

Sorry for the late reply Gaur GarimaFirst of all define your priorities. Do you want to pursue PG just for the sake of becoming professor in an engineering college or you genuinely love teaching?Second, are you willing to forego the hefty packages from the private sector & settle for decent pay & not much work pressure? If the answer to the above questions is yes skip this paragraph. In case you have some valid doubts no matter, sit down, define what your aim is (long-term & short-term), analyse whether what you want to do now fits with the aims that you have in life, prioritize the things that you need to do at the earliest which would help you in achieving those aims bit-by-bit & START WORKING ON THE SAME.See, one can take up teaching in an engineering college even with a BE degree having  some experience working in a mechanical-related field. Since your aim is to become a Professor to teach students in an engineering college you have the following three ways1. Join any engineering college with a post of Assistant professor role & study PG while also discharging your duties in the college. Since you will not be busy for the entire day you can take out time for your PG.2. Do PG in a subject of your choice & interest from reputed IISc's or any other universities having tie-up's with foreign universities or governmental organisations. Complete the thesis without distraction of a job & later on successful completion you could easily join a college in the post of Professor3. This is a bit rare. If you have joined any organisation after completing M-Tech, continue for 2-3 years or so & during that time research more on the field in which you would like to do a thesis on. Earn some money & when you have enough corpus use it to fund for the ensuing years of your study. Coupled with stipend provided by the UGC this will help you in investing some money towards your own thesis-related work.Lastly remember that once you have decided what to do go on with it!

Masters or PHD (in psychology)?

Ok, I'm embarrassed to be asking this, but I'm preparing to apply for grad school for psychology, and I'm still not clear about the difference between a masters and a PHD.

I know you have to have a masters to get a PHD, and I know that with a PHD you can do much more career-wise.

But do you have to get your masters FIRST, and then get your PHD? Like, do I have to apply to one grad school for my masters, and then apply again to the same school or another school to get my PHD? Or can you go straight to grad school for a PHD?

I hope this makes sense.

As much (detailed) advice as possible would be greatly appreciated!

I want to study biotechnology after 12th..(Please Help)?

First analyze if you have the aptitude, interests and skills to get into this field. This is predominantly a research field where PhD is required for better prospects. Its better to take PCBM than PCB but still PCB is the minimum requirement.Having Maths has it own advantages in higher stages of your career but leave it if you do not like it..
Biotechnology is a part of Life sciences and has limited scope compared to Life sciences. It is better you focus on Life sciences.
It is better to get into the top most central government institutes to have a assured future. All these top rated institutes are having its own entrance exams or KVPY or NTSE or some other central govt exams for admission in to their 5 year or 6 year integrated MS/MSc/MTech programs in BT/LS.

They include IISc,IISERs (Pune /Kolkatta/Trivandrum/Bhopal) ,NISER,Bhrathidasan University Etc.. Check out these websites and eligibility criteria and prepare for them.
