Application for Canadian Study Permit?

Hi,
I desperately need a reliable answer as soon as possible to get my study permit, so I'm asking desperately a knowledgeable person to help me.
I have received a decision from Master's program in Canadian University for fall 2013 admission. Because I am a US citizen, I need a study permit to study in Canada. Since my admission was conditional until recently, I am now able to apply for study permit. I searched websites and learned that, unless exceptional case, there's only a slim chance that I can get my study permit on time.
Does anybody aware of a method that really hasten the process of the study permit application?
Based on my research, I have found several countries where processing time of it is much faster than others. Should I mail paper application and required documents to Canadian embassy of one of those countries to hasten my study permit Approval? Or should I fly to one of those countries to apply? Would that be okay?
Lastly, would it be okay to apply study permit online and apply paper application by visiting one of canadian embassies at the same time?

I have contacted embassies and received only general answers. They seem to just copy and paste what's on their websites. I also tried to contact CIC, but, may be because of the currently ongoing strike action, they never answer. So finally I got here to ask people on the internet.

I would really appreciate for your help.

The will accept the applicants who look more sincere about education and not the one who come there for immigration (PR) purposes only.Hope this helps.

Can I work in Canada with a study permit?

Alright, here's the deal, I'm a resident of America but I plan to attend school in Canada. The issue is, I'm 18 (and therefore a legal adult) but I need to complete 12th grade before starting college. Problem is, I didn't get to complete the 12th grade before leaving my old country and need to do it here. Now, the concern is that I want to work while attending school but I'm not sure I can do that with a study permit for high school. Can I?

Canadian Study Permit Application Questions...?

It says "The cost of my studies will be (in Canadian dollars)", then has a spot for tuition, room and board, and other... Is this asking for the combined total (I'll be studying for 2 years) or is it asking per semester?

They want the total of the school fees, for as long as the course is.

I'm also going to stay with a friend for a few weeks until I get my own apartment, so I'm not sure of the cost of my rent at this time...

You need to know that rental.

Also, how do I calculate "other"?
not sure about that.

Also it asks if any member of my family has ever been convicted of a crime. Should I put yes if my brother was arrested 10 years ago?

YES you do - you are required to tell the truth.
That IS what they are asking.

Would that effect ME being able to get the permit, when I have no criminal background?

It might, it might not. You'll have to take your chances.

It also asks how my expenses will be paid (giving me options of "myself/parents" or "other")? What if it will be a combination of my own money and student loans?

Assuming you are not a canadian citizen or a permanent resident - you will NOT be entitled to apply for canadian student loans.

if you have grants or scholarships from your own country - then you state that as your source of finances. if you have savings you state how much you have saved. if your paremts are paying, you state how much they are paying.

Frankly if you do not already have this money available to you when you send in the application - I do not think you will be approved. You need to have all the money you require to live on, buy food, bus fares etc, and you must pay for your own healthcare. Maybe buy health insurance. And you must be able to show CIC that you already have it - now.

Immigration officer have been know to deny entry to anyone who does not have enough money to support themselves.
