What Are My Chances Of Getting Into The University Of Maryland

What are my chances of getting into the University of Maryland for Aerospace Engineering?

Maryland has a great aerospace engineering program, great engineering overall actually. The best way to gauge your chances is to talk to the University staff. The Clark School of Engineering runs information sessions every Friday afternoon (Information Sessions). You can also reach out to admissions counselors to talk about University’s admissions process (UMD Undergraduate Admissions).

What are my chances of getting into the University of Maryland in College Park?

University of Maryland is a hard school to get into. Its not nearly as easy as it used to be. I am currently a student at College Park. Some of the little things that make a difference are you home state and major. Applying as an childhood education major increases your chances. Any of the sciences makes it harder to get in. You are good on extracurriculars, Maryland loves that. Your SATs have to be raised. They are a school that does NOT look at writing. You should have a 1300 total between reading and math...so 650 each is a fair goal. Also, Maryland does not go for weighed GPA. They do take the difficulty of classes in consideration...but they look at your GPA unweighted. The minority fact is very helpful. Also, letters of recommendation are not to be looked over. Get a)teachers that know you very well b) someone with a nice title(dr.etc) and c) Someone that can speak about you in relation to your major(its always helpful but not necessary. The main thing is don't worry. I was stressing out forever...and it doesn't help. What happens, happens. You obviously did and are doing all you can. I'm sure you will do fine at any school you go to. :)

What are my chances of getting into the University of Maryland, College Park as a transfer student? I am a freshman student in a community college with a 3.57 GPA with good letters of recommendation, and a lot of extracurriculars.

First, it is best to transfer to U Maryland College Park after two years at a community college so that you do Not have to provide a copy of your high school transcript.Second it is Best to be in this program: Maryland Transfer Advantage ProgramThat is what it is there for.All the best.

Chances of Getting into the University of Maryland: College Park?

I am currently a junior in the state of Maryland. I have a 3.7 GPA. I am involved in a couple clubs, such as Key Club, National Honor Society, and MSA. I don't play any sports because my parents don't want me to. I have 100+ volunteer/community service hours. I took the SAT's for the FIRST time and got back my scores TODAY; I received an 1880 overall. 560 Critical Reading, 730 Math, and 590 Writing. I understand UMD-CP only looks at CR and Math scores so that would be a 1290. I plan on taking the SAT again in october before applications are submitted, and hopefully I can improve on my low CR score.

What are my chances of getting admitted? I did some research myself but I'm not sure. Will joining a lot of clubs next year so I can put them on my application help me at all? Unfortunately my GPA won't change until I hopefully get A's in classes senior year- but that would be already after I submitted my applications. THANK YOU

Chances of getting into university of maryland college park?

Two big factors that will influence this, in addition to your scores are 1) are you a Maryland resident? and 2) if yes, where in Maryland are you from?

UMD has a large number of out of state students compared to, say, the University of North Carolina system because Maryland doesn't put the same restrictions on that NC does. However, unlike other state systems, there is no real push from UMD to admit students from across the state of MD. So, if you are a student from, say, Baltimore City/County or other Western Shore counties, you are usually looked at more favorably than students with similar grades from Eastern Shore counties or counties further into the panhandle.

These are all things to consider. It's not unusual at all to be waitlisted at College Park, so expect that going in. Your grades aren't spectacular, so all of these other factors are going to come into play.

What are my chances of getting admitted to the University of Maryland-College Park as a transfer student?

I applied to UMD as a freshman; but i waited until the day before the deadline to send my application. I was rejected. I'm now a freshman at Rutgers University. If I get around a 3.5 gpa this semester, are my chances of getting accepted to UMD good? Do they still take high school grades into account? If so, i had a 3.7 gpa in high school. My SAT's were Math:640 Verbal:600 Writing:670. I voluntereed at a day camp for two summers. I went to Boy's State (a summer leadership program).

Chances of transferring to the University of Maryland (College Park)?

well, its still going to be tough for you because you are an out of state student trying to transfer into a popular public university and adding the fact that you are trying to transfer after completing 1 semester makes it even tougher.

UMD might not even want to consider you because they have core requirements that transfer students must complete before they apply, and since transfers cannot go in undeclared, there are requirements for the major that must be completed as well. You have good high school GPA, but it doesnt really matter. UMD will probably consider you as a transfer student and evaluate your academic profile against other transfer applicants. Many of those other applicants have finished everything that UMD wants and still have a really good GPA, so their academic background is more robust than yours. If Maryland cant see your fall semester grades, then dont even think about applying right now because they dont like to see a college transfer applicant that doesnt have any completed college course work grades to show them. NO OFFICIAL GRADES ON THE OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT USUALLY MEANS ZERO CONSIDERATION.

Successful transfers usually have at least 2 years of credits in general education done (at full time student status) along with a good GPA. Its not that hard to do and its not that hard to get into UMD at College Park if you have done this. This is pretty much the norm for all transfer students applying to all universities. If you do less than the norm, then your chances wont be that great because you aren't on par with the others. Sure, UMD will look at your high school grades, but that doesnt mean you will score well with them.

Would a 2.8 GPA get me into UMD (University of Maryland)?

That depends on what program you would like to enroll in and what is your background. It might be hard for you to get in the program if that is very competitive. To tell you the truth, I entered UMD with an undergraduate GPA of only 76.37 out of 100, which is very poor. My TOEFL grade was 96 and my GRE grade was only 314. But now, I will graduate with a master’s degree of Systems Engineering. And my current GPA is 3.57.I was admitted not only by UMD, but also by several other universities like Boston University, Lehigh University, University of Pittsburgh and so on. I believe the reasons why I was admitted with very poor test grades is that I do have a strong background in Systems Engineering.I studied Automation in Xi’an Jiaotong University, one of the top universities in China. My GPA was poor because I was not very interested in studying what I was asked to learn and preparing for exams those days. Instead, I participated many professional practices and research activities.I was a member of the robot team of Xi’an Jiaotong University and we won the 3rd prize team award in 2014 ABU-ROBOCON National Game of China, which is an Asian-Oceanian College robot competition. Also, I was the technique director of the Network Operations Center of my university. And, I had quite a lot of interns in factories and power plant.I have to point out that GPA cannot represent a person’s full ability and there is chance for you to be able to enter UMD with a 2.8 GPA. But GPA is VERY VERY VERY essential. GPA not only affects your current admissions, but also your future paths.I’m going to continue seeking for my Ph.D. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Although I had a research thesis and experience as a graduate research assistant during my graduate study, I was rejected by many universities like Georgia Tech and TAMU. I do believe my poor undergraduate GPA is a big disadvantage. But I can do nothing about it. Luckily, I am admitted by Rutgers University and I have made the decision to go there.Anyway, the factors are multiple and I cannot tell which is more important. There might be chance for you to be admitted but I cannot tell the possibility because I’m not the administrator and I do not know your other information. I can only say I really regret that I didn’t study hard and get a better GPA.Good luck!

Please chance me, will I get into University of Maryland College Park Smith Busniess Schoo?

I definitely agree with everything the previous answerer has posted.
The business internship is great.
Don't worry about the GPA; even though it's lower than you'd like, all of your other qualities will shine through. The japanese is unique, and I'm sure any college would be impressed. President of the club - awesome. For business school, I see you're taking AP math classes, and personal finance, so that's good, but do they have AP Econ at Churchill? Econ would look good, and you take 2 finals, so if you study up you'll get rewarded. Try to see if you can take one of them next year. If you've got computer programming, you don't need foundation of tech (if you had to pick between the programming and foundation of tech, take programming.)

I don't have much to add, but I *just* found this question, and its cool b/c I'm a sophomore @ Poolesville (SMCS), and I was thinking of UMCP as my safety school, but I've realized it's not a cakewalk to get into UMCP like I thought it would be. I too, am taking crazy classes/APs juinor & senior year. Honestly, how hard is it taking classes like that? Junior year I'm taking AP lang, AP world, AP bc calc, cell phys/biochem, engineering, spanish 4, ap stat, marine bio/analytical chem, and senior year i'm taking ap lit, mv calc, genetics, anatomy&phys, engineering, band, ap spanish, ap psych. Is it possible to handle too many advanced courses?

And I was actually thinking of volunteering this summer @ Shady grove. My friend does it and he says that all he does is file paperwork. What's your experience been like?

Sorry I've asked more questions that answered yours, but it's not everyday you find someone on the internet who lives in the same county as you.

Oh yeah, please reply! (sorry)
