What Are My Employee Rights

Employee rights question?

Assuming you're in the US...

Yes, you can be fired for not meeting sales goals. Some people are great at selling, some are not. The thing is, while you might not be able to get an individual customer to buy more items per sale, over the long run, you should be able to get SOME customers to buy additional items. That's why the manager and the company are looking at your average sales figures. They know that some customers won't buy more than the minimum, but with many customers you can get them to buy the cleaner or the polish or the socks if you approach them the right way.

I've been a sales clerk, and I was famous for not just selling a dress for a formal occasion, but selling pantyhose, a girdle, a new bra, and a slip as well. Since we sold low to middle end garments, the sales of the accessories might equal or even be more than the sales of the dress.

Edit: The Better Business Bureau has absolutely NOTHING to do with employee/employer relations. It's purely for consumers who have a problem with a business.

What are my employee rights?

I just gave my 2 week notice today. Not even before the day is over...I was informed that they already found a replacement and she will be starting Monday. However, they will only need me to work for 1 more week instead of two weeks.

Is it fair for them to let me go early? Also, as an employee of the company, by law do they have to pay me for the two weeks if they are letting me early?

Here is the catch: I am getting paid under the table. I know it's stupid and I shouldn't have done that, but at that time it was an offer that I couldn't refuse. Besides, they preferred it that way. I was getting paid as a regular employee but when I put my two week notice a while back they asked me to stay and offered to pay me under the table and all this crap!

I just feel that even though technically I am "not an employee with the company". I get paid under the table and no, they don't 1099 me. I want to go into my boss's office and tell him that I have as much rights as a regular employee.

What are employee's rights?

my employer is crazy! we get OUR tips taken away for the week if we come in late one day, or forget to do something on the longgg list of things to do, anything simple and they're gone. the tips are also split between everyone (including the owners who don't do anything). we also only receive them once a week and have no idea if we're getting beat, is this legal? oh and the temperature in there was 90 degrees (f), is that legal? they wouldn't even do anything about it!

What are my employee rights as a student?

First make sure your asking the right people, most schools do have an HR Dept that does the hiring, so check with them first. Another options is to contact the payroll department, and see where your check is. If you have already use these to options you can file a complaint the the US Dept Labor Dept or your State Dept., it would be better to file a complaint first w/o suing or getting an attorney which will cost you money. Your employment status is separate from your student status, so there is no need to be concerned w/that. It's best to be persistent and follow up w/the proper personnel for your check, and if you still don't get one file a complaint. Unless they are a fly-by-night school, this could be just some oversight and your boss isn't taking it seriously. Check into this, most reputable employers, including schools will get your check on time unless there was some issue, an issue that perhaps your not even aware of. Take that route first and again if no check comes about, file a complaint.

Employee Rights in Michigan?

When I started working at my company a couple of years ago I was informed that there would be some driving required for my job. Foolishly, I did not ask about any coverage for myself and my personal vehicle at that time.
This past year I was driving a personal errand for my boss (non-work related, but since it was for my boss I was running a "work" errand) and I was involved in a minor accident. I received the ticket and did not place a claim with my insurance company(there was barely any damage to my vehicle). Upon informing my boss of the situation he told me that he would "take care of it". This never happened. Now I was stuck paying a $170 fee for the ticket and am possibly going to be taken to small claims court for the deductable on the other driver's vehicle.
I informed my boss that I no longer felt comfortable driving for him if I was taking all the risk and he was not taking any liability. He told me that I either drive or have no job.

Employee rights regarding sick days, etc.?

My wife works for Payless Shoes. The store that she is in requires at least 2 people at all times. This is due to a situation that occurred a few years before she started there. She has worked there for 4-5yrs, full time(32+ hrs).

For the last 6 months or so, the mgr has not been coming in to cover if someone calls off. My wife recently told the mgr that she will not work alone in the store and the mgr has been coming in if someone call off (not happily, but hey-it's part of being a mgr).

Well, yesterday my wife was told that she will be loosing her sick days, vacation days, AND Christmas holiday pay, because they are dropping her down to part time!

My question is this-If a company gives you these benefits, and it is listed on your pay stub as time available, can they legally take them away if the drop you down to part time?

If the can not legally do this, who do we need to contact. I've looked at some of the gov. websites, but the info is mostly on disability discrimination, etc
