Can old Playstation light gun games like Point Blank be played with the PS3 Move controller?
I'm considering buying a PS3, but since there is no option to connect old controllers to play PS1 games, I wondered if it would be possible to play light gun games like Point Blank and Time Crisis Project Titan with the Move controller and light gun attachment that is available now. I know that the PS2 to PS3 converters can be unreliable for non-standard controllers and am looking for a viable option for playing my old games now that my Playstation and NES are on the way out.
How do guns reload in real life versus in video games?
I think the most important differences are speed of reloading and the act itself.When you reload a firearm in real life, there are 8 million things that can go wrong or otherwise cause you to hesitate. On an AR-15-type in Call of Duty, the character detaches the magazine, then somehow finds another one and loads it while sending the bolt forward, all in about one second. In real situations this takes ten times that much time... And your head and view are moving around for the entirety of it. You have to look down to find the pouch with the next magazine, look at the gun to load it, and fumble for the bolt catch. In combat situations this will take even longer, just out of distraction.Belt-fed guns are even worse in games, as they never show a machine gun operator attempting to perfectly line up the belt in the chamber, the gun jamming if they failed to do so, and the general unwieldliness of ammunition belts.If you're lying down in-game your character never rolls to his side to try and get a magazine, nor does it portray the awkwardness of lying prone with full combat load. A Call of Duty character confronted with eight Russians shooting at him with rifles set at full automatic? I can guarantee you he wouldn't dare do anything apart from try and keep from getting hit. Games don't show stress or situational problems that arise at random times. If it's snowing, the game doesn't show how shivering hands mess up reloads.As far as I've been able to experience, the ARMA series are the only games I've played which gets the "feel" of being weighted down by armor somewhat correct. But even that series has perfectly executed reloads in any situation in a remarkably speedy manner. The Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2 has some very decent reload animations, and does an average job at showing the small hesitations and habits of a reload.So I think the main issue is really with the speed of reloading and the lack of real-world habits when doing so.Project Reality reloads. Although not perfect by any means, they're probably the best we're going to get.Call of Duty, MW3 reloads.
Are light machine guns suited to hip-fire in real life?
In many popular first person shooters, light machine guns are portrayed with having terrible hip-fire spread. However, I assumed that the heavy weight of light machine guns would reduce the recoil, thus allowing you to keep the barrel pointed at a target, as firearms, of course, do not have spread. Compared to different types of firearms, are light machine guns on par with assault rifles, battle rifles, or sub-machine guns in terms of hip-fire?
