What are my rights as a driver in a pull over situation?

I have never been pulled over for the violation of "no reason." Surely they told you why they stopped you.

As long as an officer has reasonable suspicion to stop you they may. It doesn't matter if you get stopped every day if it is a valid stop.

Reasonable suspicion is evaluated using the "reasonable person" or "reasonable officer" standard, in which said person in the same circumstances could reasonably believe a person has been, is, or is about to be, engaged in criminal activity; such suspicion is not a mere hunch.

What situation under which the rights of the individual can be lawfully curtailed?

It depends on which rights and what kinds of curtailments we are talking about.Substantive due process involves the application of three “levels of scrutiny”.“Rational basis”: this is the lowest level of scrutiny, and it applies to laws that don’t involve a suspect classification (such as race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.” Rational basis requires that every law, regulation, etc. represent a rational means towards achieving a legitimate government objective. The person challenging the validity of such a law bears the burden of proof.“Intermediate scrutiny”: mid-level scrutiny that applies to laws that involve a quasi-suspect classification, to wit, gender or legitimacy. In these kinds of cases, for the law to be valid, it must involve an important state interest, and the classification must be substantially related to that interest. When the validity of a law involving a quasi-suspect qualification is challenged, the government bears the burden of proof.“Strict scrutiny”: highest level of scrutiny; applies to laws that involve a suspect classification (race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, alienage) or curtail a fundamental right (voting, domestic travel, everything listed in the Bill of Rights). Contrary to popular belief, a law like that isn’t automatically unconstitutional. It can be upheld if it represents a narrowly tailored means towards a compelling government objective. There is, however, a rebuttable presumption of unconstitutionality, and the government bears the burden of proof.

NYC Sticky Leasing Situation. What Are My Rights?

If move in date slides 10 days, perhaps you take possession early and don't pay for the unheated days?Beyond that, if they can't get the heat on sooner, what would want? What would you ask them for?Edit: if you have a contract saying they will provide you with space to live and store your belongings on Nov. 1, then you could explain the expense you'll incur if the date is missed and ask if they have a better way. They may have storage space and/or may have a deal for a hotel or place to sleep. Also check with your current landlord and ask how much it will cost to slide your move date 11 days. Perhaps the new landlord would cover that.

You are the mast of every situation?

Went to our local Chinese restaurant yesterday and when I cracked open my fortune cookie it said, "you are the mast of every situation."
It's not that I believe in because my boyfriend got the exact same one, but I still would like to know what it means. So, could you help me out with this one.
I know in sailing the mast is the pole that supports the sail. The sails make it move so...but I can't finish that thought. I just have no clue. Do you?

What are my rights as the parent of a 19 year old?

I need advice on how to handle my current situation that has me so worried and frustrated.
My daughter just turned 19 this past May. She has been in a steady relationship with a young man that she met in high school for almost 4 years.
They have had their ups & downs.
My daughter who plans on attending college this fall has goals for her future. Her boyfriend seems satisfied with working for his mom & dad in a small business which in my observation is not going to take him anywhere. He just has no drive to go back to school to further his education, he's very good with computers, and we feel that with more education he'd be an asset to any employer.
My daughter surprised me with a note that I just read this mornng. She told me that she & her bf are taking a "break". She is not ready for marriage, and her bf keeps asking.
She also informed me that a male friend of hers who is in he military has reserved for her a roundtrip ticket to bring her to Georgia for the next two weeks. I have never met this guy and I don't like the idea. So what are my rights as her mother? I'm worried about her saftey. She's never traveled by herself before, and the thought of her doing so is making me sick. She's a beautiful young woman. I don't mean to be negative, but I hear of young women disappearing every day.
She's trying to reassure me that she & I would have daily contact via cell phone & the internet, that isn't making me feel anybetter about the whole thing.
She said she needs t do this, she wants the chance to see other guys. I just don't know how to handle this.
