no longer if the chinese language Communist party and Peoples Liberation military have something to declare approximately it. The PLA is the worlds greatest status military, with approximately 2.25 million troops decrease than palms. yet this military isn't configured to attack different worldwide places or maybe to shield borders. it somewhat is configured to regulate the inhabitants of China. somewhat, that's the gun held to the pinnacle of the chinese language people, a no longer so diffused reminder that to dollar the gadget is to ask your dying. the U.S. fell while the troops in Moscow refused the orders to kill the crowds of protestors. It very very nearly got here approximately in China, at Tiananmen sq. in 1989. the 1st troops introduced in have been recruited from the community section and did no longer obey orders to fireside into the crowds. Troops from outlying aspects have been rushed in, and the protests overwhelmed. for the reason that that factor a no longer ordinary and speedy rule is that troops are continuously transferred far flung from their abode cities to serve their time. Tiananmen sq. scared the chopsticks off the Communist leaders, and that they are making specific it is going to by no skill ensue lower back.

Are political dissidents being quelled by television and Prozac?

Honestly, I think people are afraid to speak up. For the last eight years we were on the defense for Bush. And every time you tried to rationally explain why, you were beaten down by emotions and kneejerk hatred. But at least, at the end of the day, the government was not so toxic as this one.

As a dissident, I cannot imagine how to use reason and facts to move the lowing herd from the cattle drive to the economic slaughterhouse. They are all so resistant to fact and reason. They support Obama even when he pursues Bush policies they hated such as rendition, State secrecy and leaving nearly a third of US forces in Iraq through 2011. They support him when his administration is embarassing such as when Mrs. Clinton PROFUSELY thanked the Chinese for buying our bonds, when Geitner sent the markets into a tailspin with his vague and ill-prepared press conference on shoring up the banking system or the very shabby treatment of PM Brown which included snubbing the idea of our special relationship with Britain. Then there are all of the radical economic policies that have rattled 40% off the value of our stock market and caused the communist Chinese to urge restraint for fear of what these policies might do to the value of the dollar. The Communist Chinese for gods sake.

And yet, hardly a crack in the Wall of Obama support. And when you speak up, people think you are just complaining because McCan lost, or worse, that you are some kind of racist. I can't say I feel the calm euphoria of Prozac, instead I would say that I feel that I have been wrongly committed to a mental institution, surrounded by the insane, and none of the people in charge are listening to my pleas that I am fine and there must be some sort of mistake.

And then I watch television to take my mind off of the impossible situation that I find myself in. I think they will need to bring the Sopranos back to get me through this one.

Why do so many political dissidents disappear in socialist countries?

If you mean Moscow I'd say it's only when they can scrape them off the elevator wall or city street before anyone notices. Funny how liberals miss this when sucking up to Chavez, Castro, Kim, Putin or Ahminejhad? If they are really lucky, it's because they can escape to other countries, but in the case of Great Britian or Fairfax, VA suburbs even there you aren't safe from Putin's hitmen.

I can only imagine that is was for the simple reason that both parties felt they got something they wanted, a win-win situation basically.Let's start with a few “wins" for the DDR;they got rid of a few prominent nuisances without having to kill or imprison them or bury them in a “psychiatric” hospital as was done quite regularly in the Soviet sphere of influence with those who were too deluded to understand that they lived in a “workers paradise”.doing this probably bought them a bit of diplomatic goodwill and somewhat ameliorated their relationship with the BDR and the West in general.it was a source of good hard capitalist cash. West-Germany was one of the economic powerhouses of Europe and their currency was the next best thing after dollars and pounds. Also a few “wins" for the BRD;for the value of a few Mercedeses and BMW's they got the credit of liberating someone from the oppression of the DDR dictatorship.doing this kind of thing dovetailed neatly with the political and constitutional aspirations of reuniting Germany and being the government and home for all Germans with essentially little or no risk attached.also, same as for the DDR, diplomatic goodwill. Although ideologically and militarily in opposing camps there couldn't really be any harm of having tried and tested mechanisms for exchanges of “dissidents", spies, intelligence agents etc etc…. . Regardless of political aspirations and dogma both jurisdictions still had to live next to each other in the sometimes tense and somewhat surreal context of the Cold War.

Are the Caravans political dissidents fleeing genocide?

No.

They are fleeing countries with high crime rates, high unemployment, and corrupt governments.

The American Government doubtless tries to keep an eye on political dissidents in order to identify whether they will become terroristic. There have also been times that Government agents have made it easy or even encouraged dissidents to become terrorists. The justification being that this asks the Government to entrap them and prevent the dissidents from being able to take that step at a later time when they are not being monitored so closely. However, this can also mean that some groups or individuals who would never have actually become terrorists alone are pushed into it by peer pressure.Despite the rights to free speech, there has been a long history of American Governments making difficulties for dissident groups that the Government disliked even if they were not directly associated with any sort of violence. The indirect associations were publicised, often being distorted to seem more direct than they were.
