What Are Some Back Exercises

What are some good back exercises?

ok! i have the PERFECT exercise for you! I started to do these, and perposefully trying to improve my lower butt, i ended up fixing my back [abs most of all and back! ] and my butt! ok, so you lay on your back on the floor, put your legs at a 90 degree angle, with your feet on the ground. then, push up, lifting your butt off the ground, and holding it up as high as you can for one second, then slowly lower back down, almost touching the floor, then raise up and hold for two seconds, then repeat and hold for three, then as you get better you go all the way to ten,[ i do ten twice] and then!! when you get SUPER good, put all your weight on one leg and push up with one leg! and rest the other foot on top of the knee you are pushing off the ground with. I hope this is a good enough explanation. Here is a web sight to help you understand., also for the inner thigh, lay on your side, and lift your leg up to the sky as high and slow as you can, then lower, not touching your other leg on the ground, and lifting again. Repeat 20 times, and then do other leg. also doggy lifts are really good.

Any other lower back exercises with weights?

Make sure you include more stretching in your workout. Stretching is really important. Sitting makes your back stiff and puts more stress on your joints.

You may want to do isolation exercises for your back like supermans, and extensions on the floor.

The big exercises like the deadlift help, but I would add some isolation work.

Check out this page on back exercises, it also has a few lower back exercises on the ball.

hope that helps

What are some exercises to perform flat on your back?

The most important would be focusing on breathing from your diaphragm. While on your back, you can’t help but breath properly because your shoulders are anchored to the floor.Take careful note of what it feels like. While lying there, yell help/fire/boo, scream, imitate fire engine sirens, cough. Notice it all comes from the diaphragm and try to breath that way when you stand up.This is the best way to oxygenate your blood which is crucial for the healing process of any muscles you tear from exercises others will recommend.

What are some good upper back exercises I can do at home?

You need equipment to perform back (i.e. pulling) exercises. The least expensive option is to spend $30 on a set of resistance bands that allow you to perform all of the same upper-back exercises that you could do at the gym. e.g.:rowhigh rowface pullpull apartreverse flyy raise

What are some good exercises to help relief back-pain with ankylosing spondylitis?

Here are two good back exercises that should help you get some relief. The second one you can do all the way to the end of your tailbone if you want:
Back:
Place your left hand on your left knee. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and with your fingertips find the muscle next to your spine. Press on it and hold. Relax, take a deep breath and exhale and don’t tense up any part of your body. After about 30 seconds there should be a release happening and when it does slowly lower yourself forward onto your right leg. If you can lean over the outside edge of your leg it will be better for your release. Continue holding for a total of one minute. Then release but rest your body there for one minute longer. Then reverse and do the right side.
For lower back, on the buttocks:
Put both hands behind your back and place them on the muscles alongside your spine and press on them and hold. Now relax, take a deep breath and exhale and don’t tense up any part of your body. When the release starts to happen, slowly lower yourself forward as far as you can go. Then release the pressure but hold your body there for one minute longer.

What are some underappreciated back exercises?

I am a fan of the "reverse push-up." This is how it works:1. Find a barbell and place it at a height off the floor that is about 1.5 times your arm length. 2. Lay on the floor, on your back, under the barbell and grab the bar at a width that you'd normally use for a bench press or pull-up. 3. Bring your feet together.4. Keeping your body straight (no butt dropping or back curving), pull yourself up so that the bar hits you in the middle of your breast plate. 5. Slowly return your body to the original position. This works your upper back, shoulders and arms best but involves several other muscle groups as well. Another benefit is that not many people do this so you'll look cool :)
