What Are Some Cool Cheap Crafty Things To Make For A Group Of People

Which craft store is cheaper?

Only people who have access to all three stores would be able to answer your question, and then the answer might be "it depends." There are other crafts stores such as A.C. Moore that you didn't ask about that some people may have access to and others not.

However, if you are planning to sell handcrafted items on Etsy, you may not need to know which of them sells raw materials cheaper to retail customers. Once you comply with the law in your state for reporting sales taxes (on items that are sold to purchasers in your state), you will have a tax-accounting number issued to you. With that number, you can buy your supplies wholesale rather than at retail. The question then becomes, "With which wholesalers can I get the best overall deal on the supplies I need--and how do I make contact with them?" Or possibly, "How do I approach craft-supplies sellers for a discounted, pre-tax price since I will be a manufacturer and not an end-user of materials?"

The best way to find out what people want to buy on Etsy is to go to Etsy and see what is being offered for sale. Then check individual items to see if the price has been lowered or if the item is marked "sold out."

Keep in mind that what sells items on Etsy is their uniqueness. Even items within a classification--say, crocheted hats--are unique, have appeal to shoppers in at least one target market, and would be difficult to duplicate. Some are whimsical. Some invoke nostalgia. Some speak to a need not spoken to elsewhere. In other words, Etsy reaches out to a number of different niche markets. What you need to do is determine what "niche" you want to fill, then do your best to fill it in a unique way.

How do I get hold of used cds for crafts in bulk and cheap?

ever heard of Freecycle?
It is a group of people dedicated to keeping things out of landfills.
Become a member and post your request on there. ALL items on Freecycle are...free.
Here is how it works.
Lets say I cleaned out the dvd case and found many movies that no longer work due to lots of scratches...to me they are trash.
BUT I saw your post on freecycle requesting them so I email you and tell you I have them..You come by and pick them up...all for nothing except the gas it took to get to my house.
It works the same way with anything you happen ot have. today I got rid of a box of spare computer parts and cords to a fella who rebuilds old computers. It cleaned out my closet and he got what he needed for nothing.
Check it out.

Freecycle is in most larger cities and in many countries too. My friend lives in Alberta Canada and I know they have it there too. She told me.

Are you part of any craft swap group?

Hi Lynn. No, I am not a part of any craft swap group; didn’t know such things existed. On the one hand, the very thought of people swapping their crafty wares wounds my aesthetic. Fine artists don’t swap their paintings en masse.Crafts have gotten a rather bad rap from the fine arts community. The mind goes to holiday ornaments and dream catchers and knit toilet paper roll covers when thinking of crafts. Impossibly cheap brushes, papier mache ash trays, embroider-by-number throw pillows (Home Sweet Home), the silk petals of fake flowers and row upon row of styrofoam extrusions at Michael’s. Cotton balls, pipe cleaners and feathers…oh, my!In Somerville, MA is an institution dedicated to showcasing such works, MOBA - Museum Of Bad Art. Boasting of more than 700 pieces in their collections, “what they all have in common is a special quality that sets them apart in one way or another from the merely incompetent”, says their website. This would be the way to take in some crafts. On the other hand, consider the thinking behind the Arts and Crafts movement , at its heydey 1880 - 1920. William Morris is the most recognizable name associated with this artistic reaction to industrialization, but there were many more. Charles Rennie MacIntosh, Gustav Stickley, and Louis Tiffany were also associated. The idea was this: the rise of industrialization and mass production robbed something from the souls of the collective nations involved in these advancements, because craft was no longer a part of making things every day. The shoemaker no longer made a pair of shoes, for example, because now there was one person cutting leather then passing it along to another sewing it on (pass), more to thread laces (pass), and yet another to nail the sole to the body. Of the shoe!It was postulated that this inability to create something, start to finish, left gaps and dissatisfaction in the lives of folks, and that it also left holes in the decorative arts in general. Morris and the others fought and won a battle to restore art to more organic forms, to restore “process” to all, and to join together a disparate set of arts and crafts in a way not since repeated.Tapestry by William MorrisThere is something in that idea which just reeks of truth. If these craft swaps have anything in common with the ideals set forth by the leaders of the Arts and Crafts movement, where would one go about signing up?

Does anyone know some very simple Christmas craft gift ideas?

Here is the scenario: I've decided, at the last minute, to spend a few minutes doing some crafts with my Sunday School class tomorrow. We will be giving the gifts to our elderly "shut-ins" as part of a Christmas gift. The girls in my class are in middle school so nothing to junenile or too complicated. It would also help if I didn't have to spend a lot of money or time as I don't have either right now. :) That's a lot to ask, but any ideas? Thanks so much!

How do I deal with a passive aggressive person in my craft group?

My “best”, most effective responses have been those that totally disarm the person. Unfort’ly I had years to practice before ever “getting it right” some times. Here’s an example. My mother loved public zingers, but because she was a doctor’s wife and presented well socially, she felt she could pretty much get away with anything towards (mainly) me-oldest daughter-and when I was no longer available, towards my younger sister.Once at a formal family gathering, mother gets out recent pictures of me with my (previous) husband and daughters. In many of the pix I had one hand on my hip; it was a happy, confident look, actually, good pix of me for once I felt! Well, in order to bring me down (I'm guessing here), Mom says “All my (her) friends want to know {huh?!} why my hand is on my hip. I told them I guess you thought you looked good.”ZING?!Well instead of old days being either crushed, confused, pissed at why she would draw public attn to something so trivial and ridiculous and begin to doubt my own perceptions (I think her goal to bring me down a peg or two)……I just took a step back, a subtle deep breath, and admitted, in all honesty,“You know, you are right! For years and years I just never felt good about myself (wonder why?) nor how I looked. But lately I have started to feel good about who I am and how I look!”She was so taken aback by the vulnerability, the honesty, and the ownership—I'm guessing here, and plz excuse my hard-won pro-self statement!—-that for one time in her life, my mother just blinked, looked, and remained silent.I will never forget that moment.Obviously, it's not easy to respond in such a manner when someone is bullying with passive-aggression.Witness how Sen. Eliz Warren is responding to Trump’s bullying “Pocahontas” (what nonsense!) taunts.Center yourselves individually, respond with gentle firmness, honesty, and vulnerability if called for. The greatest strength comes from mature emotional transparency. There is no successful attack on that. And if your group decides to each respond individually in this honest way, then it's up to the person in question whether they can handle responding or relating in an open responsible way. Or if this will threaten them such that they remove self. Either way, you've solved something and maintained your self-respect.

What is the difference between building and crafting?

Though some would account this as a discussion in semantics, I believe that there are marked differences between these two words which originates from the intent of the doer (the person or group of persons completing the act).To build an object - or anything, for that matter - seems pragmatic and predictable, reflecting a need or gap to be filled. For instance, to build a book shelf brings to mind a utilitarian undertaking with similar results. Think Ikea flatpack furniture or a DIY project from a local building supply store. Yet to craft a bookcase seems to insinuate a careful and almost meditative process in which the design is expertly articulated through rich materiality and precise joinery. Even the fasteners would be thoughtfully considered as part of the final product. No detail would be overlooked and no shortcut would be taken. The result would be a fine piece of furniture which was born of great effort and mindful skill. We see this in many other areas with equally discorded language play: crafts versus fine arts, branded clothing versus Couture, video versus film, house versus home, a building versus architecture, etc. The latter in each pairing carries a greater weight. We assume that these words describe something of a better process than the former. In design fields, this especially holds true. In my field of architecture, there are vast crevasses which exist between a building and a piece of architecture. These differences could be seen through the comparison of a big box retail store to the flagship store of a brand located on 5th Avenue, New York, NY. The former, a glorified shed, and the latter, a well-designed well-appointed bastion of wealth and prosperity.Really, it's all a matter of perception.

What are the cheapest DIY Halloween costumes?

Make it big enough for you and without the bottom, draw up some fruit and cans, Staple or glue the paper fruit and cans on the bag Slip it on and you’re a bag of groceries.Or take the craft paper or freezer paper and string, wrap yourself up and VIOLA you’re whatever meat that the butcher had.Get some cheap paper plates and I do mean the dirt cheap paper plates. Spray paint them in a fishy color Cut them into fourths and glue, staple them on some cheap pants, make some fish tails with the left over plates and go as that mermaid on Starbucks Coffee. Maybe pick up some raggedy pants and shirt and go as a scarecrow. I would make my own straw tho. Hay fever you know is not a good thing.
