the ipod touch has more features such as internet. the ipod nano is great for music, and that's all i really use it for. and get a cover is you're scared about scratching it.

What are some reasons to buy an iPod touch?
I was looking to buy a gift for my mother on her first birthday after I started earning.I live in the USA and she is in India. I was looking into iPad or an android tab.But I believe ipad/iphone or any tablet is not a good investment for common Indians. Usability/cost is too low. You can't use Siri, maps will not be that helpful since most of the places in India are not indexed. My mother is not tech-savvy and spends her time mostly working or at home. Having said that, now lets look what she got in about 200 bucks. A device which lets her read emails, take pictures, spy on me on Facebook, talk to me using facetime, play some games when she is free. And which is extremely easy to use. She does not even need to send me any picture as I can sync to icloud and see them on my desktop. iPod touch can have almost all the apps an iphone has except the feature to send and receive calls. Above all, she loved the gift and now our old desktop is rusting in peace.

The differences are all additional features. Each version introduced something that the other didn't. Needless to say, if you buy any iPod Touch anymore, it is extremely outdated and in need of either an update or to be killed off.

don't get the refurbished... it'll work fine, look OK (not brand new), but its $300. if you are spending that much money, use it to buy a 16GB ipod touch 2G. The new ones look alot nice and have better features. If you are spending that much money, don't leave yourself with an old ipod. Past history says that there will be a fifth-generation iPod Touch released in the first half of September 2011. Unfortunately right now, we really don't know what changes will be made from the fourth to the fifth-generations. So, it comes down to whether or not you like the features that the fourth-generation offers and/or whether or not you'd like to wait until September to get the product. Of course, price could also be an issue -- we don't know what the fifth-generation model will cost or if/when there will be a price drop for the fourth-generation model.
