What Are Some Fun Summer Projects I Can Do

Long-Term Summer Projects For Teens?

Hey Guys. So it's summer. I'm bored out of my mind. I want a long-term project idea that I can work through over the summer. Something I can continuously work on through the summer. I'm a crafty person but I might want to also do something physical. ANY ideas welcome. Also, I have Very little money to spend because I am 13 and can't get a job. Thanks guys! If you have any questions that would better help you with my question, go ahead and ask.

Big projects to do over the summer?

Summer vacation starts this week, and I don't want to spend this summer doing nothing. I have summer sports and drivers ed during the summer, but I want something else to do. I was thinking about doing some kind of big project that will take a long time but will be worth it. I love technology, so something technology related would be great. My brother suggested making a computer, but I don't think I would be able to do that. I also love making and crafting things, things that I can do with my own hands. Please leave some suggestions below and any other comments, thanks.

What's a fun project I can work on with my kids this summer?

Do you have enough room to make a trebuchet? If you have a saber saw and a 4x8 sheet of plywood, you can create a decent one. The arm will not be a tree trunk, but two identical sections of plywood, tapering gradually toward the free (throwing) end. The rest of the sheet will make a crude A-frame for the fulcrum. A single large carriage bolt provides an axle.Your sons will happily provide the energy input if you put a handle (e.g., another bolt) on the counterweight end of the arm.In fact, the hardest part is the sling, or other release mechanism for the projectile.

What would be a cool project in Python or Java to do in summer that can be completed in 2 months?

Thats a really... really difficult question. I don't ever think, "What would be cool to make right now", at least not without something prompting me or if I have an ingenious idea pop up. You simply can't create something out of thin air, that's for sure. However, usually if I think of something I'd like to make and work it, it involves things I like. Like computer games for example. I'll think of a neat little mod that I could make and plan it out and make it if I can.So my question to you would be, what are you interested in? Think about the things you like, and how you could better improve them. Or draw inspiration from things around you. Is there a local problem that could be solved with a simple program?I may not get much traction for this answer, as I'm sure other people can recommend something that may look nice on a resume. However generally you want to make something that's along the lines of what you want to do, and that comes heavily from what you personally like or would like to solve.Good luck.

Long Term Project for Summer? Ideas Please?

I've been bored too :) I few of the things I've been looking into doing are:
- Learning another language, or at least the basics
- Scrapbooking.
- Volunteering
- Photography
- Get some penpals (I've started doing this and I've learnt a lot about other people's cultures already :D)
- Teach yourself how to play an instrument

Just a few ideas :)

What are some fun coding projects I could try and do over the summer?

My favorite fun projects are video games.Depending on which languages you know and how comfortable you are with programming in general., there’s libraries for every language, and plenty of pre-built engines to start with. You can start with Unity Engine or Unreal and write in C# or C++. Or you can use Construct2 and just use their visual editor. You could pick up Kivy, Pyglet, or Pygame and write python.Love in Lua.Or you can just pick a graphics library and start coding at a lower level, like with the SDL library that has bindings in most of your favorite languages.Or if that’s too complicated, remember your terminal is always capable of rendering! There are tutorials all over the web for all sorts of game projects.

What are the varios fields for doing summer projects inece?

Lots of fields are there, you can work on embedded system, VLSI, PCB related circuits , Antenna designing etc. its all upon in which year you are and what is your area of interest.

What type of C++ projects can I do in summer to enhance my resume?

It depends on your current C++ skill level. If you are a C++ beginner and want to do some small projects to enhance your C++ skills, then below are some good practices that I think worth to do:Write a BigInteger class, implement all the basic operations (+,  -,  *,  /)     goal:  familiarize encapsulation & data abstraction Write a String class (or a smart pointer class)      goal:  familiarize memory management and copy controlImplement a simplified vector template class     goal:  familiarize basic template programming Write a simple game(snake,minesweeper..), you can use existing libraries.      goal:  familiarize OOP If you are already quite familiar with the language, then more advanced projects would be appropriate:Write a Web server (someone already mentioned)Implement your own toy filesystem. Get a big 1gb file from the OS, pretend that is a blank disk and that you are the operating system, and then write your own fopen(), fwrite(), etc.Implement a TCP/IP stack

Easy and Fun Radio shack projects?

My kids got a book from radio shack that had instructions and parts lists for a bunch of electronic doohickeys including a radio, motion detector, a little pushbutton organ etc. I think they still sell it. The book wasn't expensive, had a whole bunch of projects and it had all the parts listed, including the radio shack stock numbers, in case the store needed to order a part. The timer still works and so does the organ. They also made small robots from radio shack parts, including an RC car they took apart. Years and years ago my brother got a bunch of electronic stuff from radio shack and built a radio, then a timer circuit, then he got their printed circuit kit, then he made a simple Altair computer from parts from a radio shack and other sources...he was a real electronics and computer nerd.

Now my one kid is a software engineer, that is: he makes the programs that make the hardware components do their jobs. The other is a programmer, both make a good living. My brother became an electronic engineer, holds three patents on electronic devices and recently retired a millionaire at forty years of age. And all because these guys also thought it would be awesome to get a few electronic parts at radio shack to make some cool things like radios and things.

Not really an answer...but perhaps you have a bright future ahead!
