What are some good discussion questions about the genocide in RWANDA?

Perhaps the most important question: Why can't brothas get along?

(Brothas = black people in ebonics).

What are some good discussion questions regarding inequality?

I'm a college student and we're having a class discussion tomorrow regarding inequality (ex: gender, social, racial). I know that sounds vague, but that just leaves more possibilities! I really want to spur some good conversation and I would really appreciate any ideas for some good discussion questions concerning inequality.

There's lots of inequality in the world, what are your thoughts?

Examples of questions I've thought of:
Is some form of inequality necessary for society to function?
By what processes are inequalities produced?
Does our economic system perpetually sustain the essence of inequality?

Thanks! :)

Angelas ashes discussion questions. Please help!!?

1. McCourt titles his memoir Angela's Ashes, after his mother. What significance does the phrase "Angela's Ashes" acquire by the end of the book?

2. Despite the McCourts' horrid poverty, Mind- numbing starvation, and devastating losses, Angela's Ashes is not a tragic memoir. In face, it is uplifting, triumphant even. How does McCourt accomplish this?

3. Irish songs and lyrics are featured in Angela's Ashes. How do these lyrics contribute to the voice of this memoir? How does music affect franks experiences? How do you think it continues to influence his memories of his childhood?

4. Frank spent the first four years of his life in the United States. How do his experiences in America affect Frank's years in Ireland?

Please help me out! We have read this in class over a period of 5 weeks and its hard to remember every little detail. Much appreciated! :)

What are the best ways of getting out of poverty?

Honestly, you cannot escape poverty. I've seen poverty and, to some extent, lived it. But I know that I will never be homeless, starving, etc. So, you could say that I have never experienced true poverty. But I will tell you this. Those whom I know who were truly poor BUILT their way out of it. They did not escape it. They did things that I would never have the guts or even the physical strength to do.I will give you one example. I teach illiterate adults basic reading and comprehension skills (at no charge). One of my earliest students was a youngish man. We were both in our thirties at the time, though he was a few years younger than I was. He came to the library (which provided materials and space for the class) in a BMW. He had a stunningly beautiful wife. He told me that he lived in a million-dollar home. Yet he was illiterate. He was intelligent, but not brilliant. And he grew up poor -- poverty beyond my experience. He was, quite literally, born on the streets. By the time he was able to walk, speak, etc. his parents had vanished. He survived, somehow -- I have no idea how -- until he was ten, just wandering the streets. Then he started to sell flowers that he had either stolen or that someone had given him.  He made very little money this way. Then someone gave him a box of vitamin bottles  -- 100 bottles -- for free. How and why, I don't know. He sold these 100 bottles by going door to door, in ONE DAY. This was in Miami. It is hot there. And a little boy wandering around, half-naked, selling stuff door to door, is not welcome in most places. But he managed to do this for YEARS. He finally saved enough money to buy himself a house, when he was in his twenties. So, for more than TWENTY YEARS, this guy literally lived on the streets.I think I would die in my first 20 hours, on the streets. He finally married a beautiful, educated woman who had a good job. He got himself a job as a grounds-keeper. And he had been employed for 10 years or so when his wife finally convinced him to become literate. I still have a t-shirt that he gave me as a gift when we were done. So, my friend, you can build yourself a way out of poverty. It is difficult. But it can be done. Frankly, I don't know if I could do it. But I hope you do. I am not a rich guy myself. But let me know if I can help, in any way.

Open ended questions?

Open ended questions are options or predefined categories are suggested. The respondent supplies their own answer without being constrained by a fixed set of possible responses. Examples of types of open ended questions include: Completely unstructured - For example, “What is your opinion of questionnaires?
Yes "Do you think that this could happen to us in reality? Why or why not?" would work.

Is poverty considered as the most important problem or issue facing the Philippines today?

Poverty is just ONE of the major problems facing the Philippines today. Graft and corruption are likewise culprits why the country is such in a great mess. If graft and corruption can be fixed (declaring pork barrel of congressmen and senators as unconstitutional) it will definitely eliminate poverty, granting that our government officials are honest enough to carry out their tasks in alleviating poverty nationwide. By eliminating poverty, the problems on drug abuse will then be solved because poverty is the root cause of drug abuse in the country. Eliminate poverty, drug abuse problem solved. Simple as that.

Children of poverty is it possible for those in poverty and the working class to pull themselves up and achiev?

It is absolutely possible. Everyone, regardless of wealth has an opportunity to get 12 years of free education. How that opportunity is approached and how it is applied makes all the difference. Despite the pressure to take an easy or criminal path in life, everyone knows right from wrong. Those with the courage and fortitude to take the right path in life can always achieve success and wealth. With a high school diploma, anyone can take various paths in life to gain wealth (join the military, become an apprentice in a trade, take an unskilled job and work hard, etc.). The problem is that most people do not have the drive and will to achieve on their own. They live beneath themselves with government handouts and low self-esteem.
