Do i need to be a confident swimmer to study marine biology?

If you want to dive you need to be a good swimmer. This is not necessary to be a marine biologist. I an in graduate school studying marine biology and all of my experiments are in 5 gallon buckets. A lot of marine biologists make models or run statistics and rarely go outside. Many people work on board large research ships and never go in the water. It depends what you want to study. If you want to dive on coral reefs you will need to swim. If you want to study ice cores in Antarctica it won't be as much of a problem. Diving is not easier than swimming. You should join a pool nearby and practice.

How is Norway and Spain similar in climate?

I have been living 20 years in Belgium, 6 years in Spain and 38 years in Norway. Having sailed and been flying for more than half a century, meteorology is my passion, which I teach to pilots, at my club.
I can, therefore, assure you thatthere is nothing similar between the climate in Norway and Spain.

This being said, Spain is nearly the entire Iberian peninsula, with a lot of different regions. Tourists know very well the Mediterranean coast (Costa de Sol and Costa Blanca). But there is more to that country. For example, in Galcia, during the summer the temperature seldom goes over 20 to 25 degrees. This is because the current comes from the Bay of Biscay, with cold water. Bayonna La Real is where rich people from Madrid went to spend the "cool" summer.

Norway is a long country. From Lindesnes, in the south, to Kirkenes up north, by road, it is as long as Oslo to Rome in Italy! Yet the Gulfstream makes the climate pretty much homogenous. Except for: the coastline vs. inland. As you get inland, up north, in the winter, the difference of temperature with the coast can be as much as perhaps 20 or 30 degrees Celsius. Likewise, during the summer, a place like Karasjok, can be very, very warm! If there is a long lasting high pressure, Karasjok can reach as much as 30 C. This is because, north of the polar circle, the sun never sets during the summe (the famous midnight sun!).

If anything can be similar between Spain and Norway, climate-wise, is that: in both countries, there can be a great difference of temperature between the coast and inland.
... this being said, it is also the case for any large country! ... not so much Belgium, though! ;-)

Who was better, Oasis or Blur? Why?

Although any (at least, most) musical questions have an element of subjectivity, I for one would strongly contend that Blur are by far the better band.Along with Suede, it was they who indisputably pioneered the Britpop movement: the release of Parklife in 1994 is widely seen as its natural start and was arguably the most recent significant event in British music. But why Blur? In terms of sheer musical range, they certainly outclass Oasis: take the Songs 'She's So High,' 'Parklife, 'Song 2' and 'Beetlebum.' All are seminal works in Blur's history, all are excellent songs, yet it is hard to believe that they come from the same band - the only constant is Damon Albarn's distinctive and endearing voice and the high quality of sound. Certainly, Oasis had some very good songs ('Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger,' come to mind) but their music remains rather samey throughout their spell as a band (in my opinion). The content of Blur's songs are also much better than Oasis. Whilst Blur chart the minute but precious happiness and sufferings of normal people in their suburban lives, Oasis' songs are rather more distant and, dare I say it, poncey, with their 'we're better than the Beatles.' I would argue that this is why Oasis are more popular in America: their music is pretty universal, whilst Blur is certainly more Anglo-centric, and perhaps harder to initially 'get.' Another factor for me is the people in the bands. One really oughtn't to judge music on the artist I know, but Blur are just much nicer than Oasis. Yes, some of them went to Art College, some did have drug issues, but they remain quite humble and friendly. Alex James has gone and set up a cheese farm. There is absolutely no comparison to the rude, boastful and belligerent Oasis. Finally, let us not forget that Blur won the Battle of Britpop (see link from 'Peak of Success').
