Gaining users and persuading people to come use your social network is the hardest part. Why would I leave twitter and my 1,000 followers I have to come join your network with 0 followers and no friends. Why would my mom leave her FaceBook when her and her 500 friends are posting long stories and pictures that they think are funny every hour. Most wouldn't make the change, however some would, but in the end it is very hard to persuade people to come join a new network and start at point 0.Not to say I haven't had the idea myself before, but I've always shot it down after a few days of looking at it realistically.

The only website that is myspace-like and allows kids under 13 is Yuniti ( http://yuniti.com ). It is really safe & my 12 year old brother is on it. I'm 18 and use it as well. They added a lot of extra safety features to make sure kids would be protected. They have a parent guide you could show your parents as well to help make them feel more comfortable with you being on a social networking site ( http://yuniti.com/parents_guide.php ). Sites like Neopets and ClubPenguin allow 11 year olds to join as well, but it's more of a game and you aren't allowed to actually talk to anyone on the site until you are 13.
