What Are Some Good Quick Microwave/oven Meals

Cooking chicken in microwave oven?

Firstly, NEVER cook a chicken in a microwave oven!

1. They're good for heating up things.
2. They're good for frozen meals.
3. Most things cooked in microwave ovens are quick.
4. Only cook things specified to cook in a microwave oven: then there's no health risks.

They are time savers and actually produce good quality food if you buy the best :)

Hope this helped

What's better microwave or oven ?

That's like asking whether a toaster or a blender is best. Each has its own application and is useful in different areas. One is no healthier nor any more dangerous than the other.
First, lets dispell the myth that microwave cooked food is harmful. It is not. The microwave cooks food by bombarding it with waves, much like radio waves, that excite the water molecules contained in the food. The water molecules heat up because of the friction of bumping into one another at a very rapid rate. Microwaves do not produce radiation like a nuclear power plant fuel rod.
If you want to melt some butter or chocolate chips, boil water, heat up a bowl of soup or a slice of pizza or a piece of leftover fried chicken, go to the microwave. If you want to bake a lasagna, a loaf of bread, a whole pizza, a frozen dinner, a cake, or roast a big hunk of meat, use the oven.

What are some easy and tasty microwave food recipes?

I get boiled corn in cans from nearby supermarket. Wash the corn before you use them. I put corn kernels in a cup, with half teaspoon butter, a bit of Pepper/ Chilli and salt. Microwave for 1 mins take out mix it well with a spoon and microwave again for 1.5 - 2 min and you get a good snack. Bread and nutella/chocolate spread. Mircowave for 30 sec for a sticky chocolaty treat. Make sure you put a piece of paper/ Tissue under the bread, else the bread become soggy due to the water.Take 2 slices of bread, but a slice of cheese in between, sprinkle little pepper powder and microwave for 1 min with a tissue paper beneath the bread.  Microwave for 2 mins to get a really crunchy, grilled layer of cheese in between. The obvious one. Put dry corn kernels in  a paper bag. Put in salt, chilli, or any seasoning you want, fold the top end and pop in the microwave . Wait till the popping has stopped had have a pack of oil free popcorns. I sometimes put pieces of coconut (not grated but sliced)in microwave for a min to use it as a side dish with dry snacks. Gives out a crunchy feel, and a different taste due to the coconut oil formed.Pierce 2-3 potatoes randomly using a fork and pop them in mircowave for 7-10 mins for extra smooth potato paste which I use for as a base for many dishes. you can take them out in 5-8 mins and used them as boiled potatoes. Got this from a website sometime back. Put grated apple( small slices will do) with corn flakes/oats,sugar, butter, and a dash of cinnamon. Microwave for 20 sec, take out stir and pop in again for 30 sec.Sprinkle sugar over bread and microwave it for caramelised bread which goes well with black coffee.

What do professional chefs think about the use of microwave ovens to cook food?

I love them. As I always say, the difference between a foodie and a real chef is that one of them likes, the other one maligns, the magnetron.Microwaves rock. I can make anything from tasty bread to quick maitre d' butter in them, I can heat water or pre-cook sausages that I just have to crisp up on the grill. I can make desserts and re-heat soups without fear of burning the sediment. And that's not all. The microwave is a nifty, modern, heating mechanism. Like every other way to cook food, it's good for some and not so good for others (no one would suggest making consomme in the oven, for example). What happened somewhere in the 90s was not that microwaves started sucking bad but that they got judged not for what they were but what went into them - ready meals. Which is, if you think about it, about as stupid as judging fridges and freezers just because McDonalds uses them too.A few years back I got a one-star Yelp review that went something like this: "The food was excellent and we loved it last time. This time we had the seat right at the bar and I could look in the kitchen and I saw someone put something in the microwave!!!!!one111eleven!!".What an idiot. Walk into any Michelin starred place or any of the Top 20 S. Pellegrino places and you'll find at least one microwave. When at 9pm my place is hot and we're in the weeds do you really want me to make clarified butter in a pot? How do you think we get these soft and moist and very, very, delicious buns out? Yes, a microwave steamer. Microwaves heat the water that produces steam.Microwaves do things other heating methods can't. And they do some things poorly. Just like the difference between a grill and a griddle, a pan and the oven, or a broiler and a steamer. Don't discount any of them, they all have their place in modern and craft based cooking.

When did microwaves become common in American homes?

The first Raytheon commercial microwave oven was the 1161 Radarange, which was marketed in 1954. Rated at 1600 watts, it was so large and expensive that it was practical only for restaurant and institutional use.

In 1967, Amana, a division of Raytheon, introduced its domestic Radarange microwave oven, marking the beginning of the use of microwave ovens in home kitchens. Although sales were slow during the first few years, partially due to the oven’s relatively expensive price tag, the concept of quick microwave cooking had arrived. In succeeding years, Litton and a number of other companies joined the countertop microwave oven market. By the end of 1971, the price of countertop units began to decrease and their capabilities were expanded.

Quick simple meals for college student?

Ok, well I am going to college in a few weeks. I have a meal plan, but I opted for the plan that leaves me on my own for 2-3 meals a week. I am going to a college with several large dining halls, but lets face it, dining hall food is dining hall food. My problem is that I need easy quick meals I can make, and I only have a small mini-fridge I have to share with a room mate. I also have a microwave.

The thing Is, I can only eat so much chefboyaree and easy mac. That stuff puts on weight.

The only thing I have so far is my honey mustard chicken salad. Bagged lettuce, honey mustard dressing and those purdue pre-made breaded chicken cutlets. Slice up one of them, heat it up real quick, throw it over lettuce and some honey mustard. I can do this with one bowl, and its fairly healthy. Lettuce I dont even count, the chicken is like 7 grams of fat and the dressing is like 4-5. Great for a light dinner or throw on a second piece of chicken. say about 3 healthy meals for less than 10$

Does anybody have any other ideas like this? Like simple stuff that isnt bad with fat/calories and isnt too expensive. Mostly just dinner ideas.

So any thoughts? I plan on not gaining the freshman 15, in fact im damn determined not to.

What are some ideal meals and recipes that are quick to make, easy to freeze and warm up again later, and will feed a large family of picky eaters?

That’s a tall order. I don’t know if there are any dishes you can make in large amounts quickly, but soups, stews, and casseroles tend to freeze and reheat well. So it’s just a matter of fitting the ingredients to your family’s palette. And getting them to help you prep.
