What Are Some Good Talent Agents

Talent Agent........?

wow
I tried to rewrite this 3 times . I have had a LOT of experence with talent agents and personal agents and managers etc. and basically the way it works is :
Talent Agent: there are talent agents in every mid to large town when someone goes to them you are a name in a pile it really doesn't matter the amount of talent you have Although talent . experience , looks and connections do make a difference

Personal Manager: I have had several and they do work on your behalf but they take a stiff percentage of everything you make wether they get it for you or you get it for you.

I am not sure of your age but you really need to build up your resume work on every community show there is Check into school and library acting and singing and dance classes you might ask why acting and dance to be a singer because its all about packaging I do a lot of consulting work for magicians and one of the first things I do is send them to dance class so they can learn how to walk most of them have no idea that thier shoulders are slumped and they walk out onstage like truck drivers .Definatly sign up with every local agent there is if they ask for exclusive or say you ned to spend a lot of money on head shots . acting lessions etc WALK AWAY they are Phoney

Can you have a talent agent out of state?

I'm an LA Actor giving you the REAL DEAL!

If you're NOT a big star, then you need to be AT MOST 1.5 hours away from LA. Otherwise, you are NOT going to be signed be an LA Agency. They NEED you close. If your flight gets delayed or you can't make and audition, you'll ruin the agent's relationship with casting directors thus giving the agent a good reason to drop you.

To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won't see you unless you're SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading.

You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways:
-Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too.
-Attend a showcase and impress them.
-Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you're interested in

DON'T
-Email them unless they tell you to. IT'S UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE!
-Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent's ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial print.

Good song for talent agent audition?

All the songs you chose are very modern, what about something like "Over The Rainbow". But out of those, I'd say Overboard.
Good luck!

What are some good talent agents for disney?

This is where you find agents: http://www.sag.org/sagWebApp/application...

But are you ready for that? Do you have a lot of training and experience? The other answerer is correct in that agents do not specialize in sending actors on auditions for specific production companies. They send you on whatever you are right for in your particular market regardless of the company. However, the vast majority of Disney casting is done in LA so if you don't live in Southern California then Disney will likely not happen for you unless you move and are incredibly lucky.

Also, Disney kids are triple threats. Can you sing, dance and act well? You need to be trained in all three and perform on a regular basis. Get into classes and start auditioning for theatre. Once you have a few roles under your belt there, then try your hand at student and indie films. To find audition information locally, ask your teachers in your acting classes, voice lessons and dance classes. You may be able to get info from backstage.com and actorsaccess.com but you need your parents' permission because although you can look for free, there will be a fee to get all the info or to submit yoursef for the audition. You'll see what I mean when you check out the sites. You can also do a search for your state's film alliances, commissions etc. Those sites have info on productions filming locally and often have info on classes for you to take and casting info. Do a websearch for your state's name and the word film and see what comes up. Explore the sites thoroughly!

good luck!

What are good talent agents in NY for people starting out?

No agent….you need, training and experience! Get in classes, subscribe to Backstage: Casting you can trust on-line. Go to auditions and take Scene Study classes.

What are signs of a lousy talent agent?

They tell everyone that applies that they are perfect and that the world will fall in love with them … then charge a huge fee to register; They insist on using their own exorbitantly priced photographer for your publicity photos; They never answer the phone once you have registered.I see from other answers you have given and your profile that you have been married for nine years. Is this question related to you or a relative? Follow me and I should be able to message you.

What are some good books for aspiring talent agents to read?

The Mailroom: Hollywood History from the Bottom Up by David Rensin was a great read, and gives some insight from a more personal perspective.  Also, gives history of the business and important names included.  I would start there. Also, I still believe that How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie is a great book.  It may be somewhat outdated, but to paraphrase Bruce Lee, Absorb what is useful, discard what is not.

What are the benefits of getting a talent agent?

The answer to your question lies in understanding what a talent agent does; Agents negotiate contracts for their clients. In exchange, clients pay the agent 10% of what they earn through those contracts. (That 10% is set in stone, per agreements with the actors’ unions. Someone else mentioned 15–20% — that’s incorrect. Managers may take that much, but actors should never work with an agent who asks for more than 10%.)The idea that agents find actors work is one of the biggest mistakes actors make early in their careers. It is the actor’s job to find work, through his/her own relationships and networking. Agents may submit you for available roles, but if you haven’t done a lot of marketing and networking on your own, nothing will come of it.Agents only make money when their clients make money, which means they’re looking for actors who are committed to pursuing a career in acting and have put in the time, energy, and money to make that happen. If you have little experience and are not sure if you want to act professionally, an agent doesn’t make sense for you, and you likely wouldn’t be able to get a reputable one anyway, because what you do isn’t what they’re interested in — and that’s ok! It means you can pursue your love of acting in all its forms without worrying about joining the union, finding representation, networking with industry pros… all the non-creative business work pros need to do.

What are some legit talent agents in austin, texas?

Talent agents do not start your career. There is NO legitimate agent who will represent anyone who does not already have several years of training and experience. If you want to get an agent you first need to have experience in starring roles in amateur productions like school plays, community theater, student films, etc and training from the best acting school/coach in your area

The reality is, if you can't show that you are at least talented enough to get the lead over and over in an amateur school play then there is no way you would be talented enough to get cast in a tv show or film. And if your parents are not committed enough to your career to enroll you in acting classes, then they are not committed to making you the best actor you can be

So before you start looking for an agent you need to get experience and training

If you already do have 2-3 years acting experience then there are no SAG or AFTRA agents in Austin - they are in Dallas and Houston

I can only find two legitimate agents in Austin
