What s a good place to visit for a US vacation?

Frankly, until you have a far better idea of WHAT you want to see in the US, this cannot be usefully answered.

The US is HUGE, it's the fourth largest country on Earth.

Plus, without knowing an actual budget, and not one based on the meaningless word 'affordable', no one can guess what is affordable to YOU, and your income.

Go look on US tourism sites, look at sites such as Expedia and Trivago, and see what hotels cost in various US cities and destinations on the SPECIFIC dates of your planned trip. As you also failed to give us ANY idea of WHEN you'd be making this trip, prices vary by seasons in the US by a fair amount.

Where are some good places to visit in South Dakota?

~Mount Rushmore: You can't go to South Dakota and not go there! It's cool to see up close and they have fireworks and light shows sometimes during the summer. You can also go on hikes.
~Wall Drug
~Custer State Park
~Falls Park: The waterfalls are beautiful and it's really neat.
~Wild Water West: It's the largest waterpark in South Dakota. They have four slides (maybe more; I haven't been there in years), a wave pool, a lazy river, go-karts, and lots of other stuff.
~Palisades State Park: This is where Jesse James supposedly lost his gold. You can rock climb, hike, and camp here.

I wouldn't suggest going to Crazy Horse. When I went, it was expensive to get in and pretty boring. We couldn't get very close to the monument and the stuff in the gift shop wasn't even made by Native Americans. I also wouldn't suggest going to the Corn Palace in Mitchell. The inside just has pictures of the corn palace from every year. Both are cool to drive by, but they won't hold your interest for m minutes.

What are some of the best place to visit in the 'Deep South' (USA)?

Lafeyette, Louisiana  Find Cajun French side by side with the Deep South community and experience lots of history and culture such as:You gotta go to Vermillionville. They showcase tons of history and offer an up close experience with wildlife. I suggest learning some French before you go so you can mingle with the locals at a local French table. Check out: Vermilionville (go in the summer and I might be there!)*Area Table Francais Locations - Louisiana / Cajun French JD Davidson's answer to How do I experience the purest Cajun culture during a trip to Louisiana? We might be straying out of Deep South territory but:Charleston, SC has some great beaches as well as historic viewing opportunities and has been rated as one of the very best places to visit in the South. Great to look into. If you can, try to hop over to the Sea Cotton/Gullah Islands, too, or go when they are having their festival. Very laid back beaches. The best that I've ever been to in the South. Also try to pick up a sweet grass rose! Hey keep for a long time and are unique and great souvenirs. Now you might be thinking oh I bet New Orleans and Myrtle Beach would be fun, too. (Even others have said it.)There are places that you have to be more careful in, though. Not completely for safety reasons or anything but because you could find yourself not having as much of a fun time as you thought you were going to if you fall into some of the tourist trap things. Don't go to Bourban street. I would never strongly recommend hitting the beach at Dirty Myrtle.  If you do go to New Orleans then check out New Orleans Tours . Asheville, NCIt's a great city that's not too big and is deeply connected with the arts. The views are amazing and there are a lot of activities such as seeing a concert at The Grey Eagle | Asheville, NC or zip longing. If you skip up to Boone, NC about an hour away you could go to Grandfather Mountain State Park  which is super cool and during the winter you can participate in quite a few snowy activities such as snow tubing. The mountains really are blue.  There are few things more Southern than college football and the capital of college football is Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Tailgaiting is what they call the big party every home game Saturday when the Crimson Tide comes out to play. Tuscaloosa has a great bar scene (so I hear). If you can get tickets You won't regret it.
