What Are Some Melodic Death Metal Songs That Will Get Religious People Angry

Why do some people like Death Metal?!?!?!?

Metal is a combination of classical music, blues and rock. If you understand metal, you'll probably understand classical music, and you'll probably be able to relate to rock. If you can relate to rock, you'll "get" the blues. Basically, "metal" is the natural combination of African and European music, filtered through the torture of American slavery and oppression and the desolation of Britain during the mid-20th century.

So you have this amalgamation of these three genres of very powerful and emotional music. This makes metal, one of the most powerful and emotional genres of music in existence. Metal is not weak, metal is strong music for strong people. Nobody listens to metal because they like to wallow in their own disgusting misery or anger, the way they listen to worthless genres like emo. Nobody listens to metal for cheap entertainment, the way they'd listen to pop. Metal makes you feel strong and powerful. Metal is strength in oneself, but it is also a connection to other people, so metal is strength in numbers. Metal tells you that it is okay to be happy, it is okay to be sad, it is okay to be angry, and it is okay to be yourself.

And then you have death metal. Death metal is really the natural progression of this music. Death metal is regular metal times 1000. What is stronger than death metal? Nothing. Death metal is not afraid of the thing that we fear the most -- death.

And not only is metal strong, but the classical elements also add beauty. Metal isn't afraid to sing about the beauty of a winter scene. Metal isn't afraid to cry. Metal isn't afraid. Metal is strong, powerful and beautiful. Metal is everything that I want to be. Not only that, but it is fun.

If you really listen to metal -- really listen, you'll appreciate the immense talent that these people have to have in order to actually make this music. I mean, the layers upon layers of notes and instruments, and finding that perfect riff that invokes that perfect feeling in another person, and the speed and complexity and brutality and beauty of the attack takes skill. Not anybody can play real, good metal. Metal is a genre for true musicians. If Beethoven were alive today, he'd play metal.

PS: Korn is not death metal. Slipknot is not death metal. These bands are garbage, and shouldn't be used as an example of what metal has to offer. Try some Wintersun. This is called melodic death metal, and it is amazing.

Why do people like "death metal" music, even though it sounds so harsh?

There is stuff far more harsh in the world of music. Especially to westerners who are mostly bombarded with Commercial music. I started to listen to Slipknot in 6th grade and since then I grew heavier and heavier listening to Meshuggah by 10th grade and Necrophagist by 11th grade. Now I listen to stuff like Death Grips, Khanate, and Yaporigami Which I think is the next level. But now, I can listen to Death Metal albums when going to sleep. Its almost as therapeutic as study music people listen to when doing their homework. I think music that isn't normal in society like 8 note scales and Pentatonic scales will make people turn away or feel uncomfortable. Its an acquired taste and I feel people should accept it. Usually when people complain about it I hear this1). There is no order to it. Well this is because Death Metal sometimes doesn't follow ABA, ABAA, or ABC song song structure. Sometimes there is no Bridge and no Chorus. Or sometimes the Chorus is the outro and the song is full of Verses and Prechorus. Its a lovely change of pace. They also don’t use the Pentatonic scale like most commercial music does using the same chord progressions.2). I hate the vocals. This, I can sometimes understand, but there is plenty of instrumental Death Metal for this to not be a problem. People in the Death Metal community will not like one vocalists but love another, so its mostly preference. I also listen to music from all over the world and if I don’t speak the language, I see the lyrics as another instrument complementing the music. I don’t need to hear the lyrics to feel the music.3).Its too harsh or the Lyrics are too violent. Another reason I like Death Metal is because they talk about the extremes of human nature and its completely different from what we normally hear. Commercial music is mostly about Drugs, Sex, or Relationships. Well, with Death metal you won’t get that very often. And if you do, its the Biological effects of Drugs or Sexual mutilation and Fetishes. Which is fine with me because you shouldn't take the lyrics seriously anyways. Some Death Metal bands I like have awesome lyrics like Despised Icon. Also, If you can’t understand them then why does the lyrics matter haha. Its all acquired taste.

What are some good obscure melodic death metal bands?

Everyone of these answers if fvkking retarded except for the one above me. Nobody seems to know what melodic death metal is.

The BEST new band to play melo-death is ARSIS and I highly reccomend them.

Seconding the suggestions of Carcass (check out the album Heartwork) and Kalmah.

Why does deathmetal, or any metal genre, sound terrible to most people?

I am a huge metal fan, and when I play my music around other people, they either move away, or complain about how bad it sounds. Why do I love it, and Everyman else hates it?

Can someone explain death metal?

Try Morbid angel, Death, Dying Fetus, Skinless. The blast beats are probably what bothers you but that is more of a grindcore thing. Those are the parts in death metal songs that sound like noise. Most bands will use them, but it's not every song. I'm not a big fan of them myself. The bands I mentioned use modes, scales, progressions, and time signatures not normaly found in pop, rock, and rnb. It's more like chromatic jazz than rock n' roll. It's constructed very differently too. The guitars and drums are the main focus of a death metal song, and the vocals fit around the pattern that they play rather than the other way around (as you would find in most pop music) the outcome is music that typically has no "hook" or "melody" and is not very easy to sing along too. Also, I find that most fans of death metal are musicians. Probably because most of the time people who don't play music don't pick up on the talent it takes to write stuff like that. Even the "mile-a-minute nothing but noise" kind of metal is incredibly difficult to play.

There are, however, many melodic death metal bands, such as At the Gates, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom. They use less chromatic scales, and often have a repeating chorus. It's still pretty brutal, but it's a lot easier to digest.

What are some of the best metal songs?

To properly answer the question, I would really have to pick what I think are the best examples of 4 categories that I’m most familiar with:Plain old metal ‘Balls to the Wall’ by Accept. This song takes AC/DC’s style and makes it a little heavier, and Udo Dirkschneider’s voice is what Bon Scott would sound like with a little more aggression.Doom metal‘Into the Void’ by Black Sabbath. This is the heaviest tune from the album that actually started doom metal, with Iommi’s guitar tuned down a step and a half. It lumbers along for the first minute, then at the 1:15 mark it launches into one of the darkest riffs ever recorded. Geezer basically follows Tony for most of the song, so that the bass and guitar combine to form a thuggish, mean, & somewhat industrial sound.Thrash metal‘Battery’ by Metallica. To me, this is the quintessential thrash song. The main riff is fast, mechanical, and brutal. It really feels like being repeatedly hit over the head with a bat. Although the whole Master of Puppets album is filled with equally heavy riffs, this is the one that defines the thrash sound. It’s the one that you would play for someone if he asked you, “What is thrash metal?”Hair metal‘Looks That Kill’ by Motley Crue.Lusty and dripping with sexual innuendo. The whole hair metal scene was about sex, youth, and good looks. This pretty much wraps it up in one song. It sounds like clothing coming off and STD’s being exchanged.
