What Are Some Movies About Brothers

What are some good movies for brothers to watch together?

The Judge:This is a brilliant movie which partly deals with sibling love and partly with repairing the bond with one’s father. It has stalwarts like Robert Duvall and Robert Downey Jr. in leading roles backed up by Vincent Donofrio. It came out in 2014 and is a severely underrated flick. Though not wholly about siblings, its a great movie to watch with your brothers and extended family too.

What is the best Coen Brothers movie?

Okay, I had a binge watching week in the summer where I sat myself down and watched, in succession, Miller’s Crossing, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, True Grit, Raising Arizona, No Country For Old Men, Burn After Reading, The Big Lebowski, and of course Fargo.I didn’t dislike a single one of them, in fact I really liked basically all of them. But my favorite?Holy SHIT this movie was ballsy. The amount of restraint it had for an action film was impressive, to say the least. The way it built tension, as well as its setting, were phenomenal. The lighting was perfect. The performances and subtle ways it had of communicating with the audience were so fucking cool. I loved it, it’s one of my favorite movies.Fargo? Well, I didn’t not like it. I thought it was interestingly shot and very quirky as well as comically dark, but there just wasn’t anything super special about it. I dunno. Probably in the minority. I can see why people like it, though.Big Lebowski? Alright. Not much to say about it. I get that it was kind of a parody of over dramatization, but still, I think it could have been executed better.Coen Brothers? Geniuses.

What are some unique features of Coen Brothers movies?

The first Coen Brothers film I saw was Blood Simple.  I saw it in its initial release in '84.  Almost immediately I was drawn to the style of the film.  Interesting camera angles, tight editing and moody lighting.  It was like classic film noir had gotten twisted up with Hitchcock and when I left the theater I felt I'd discovered filmmakers to be reckoned with.  Since then, while I haven't loved everything they've done, something in any given film of theirs intrigues me.  And on several occasions the Coens have just flat out blown me away.As filmmakers the Coens are often characterized as quirky and I get that.  Their sense of humor can be quite . . . eccentric, often fairly dark.  Sometimes pitch black.  But as dark as they get I always have the feeling that they like their characters, even the truly evil ones.  I'd call it a hallmark.  Characters in Coen Brothers films are handled with a lot of care.  Dialogue is written with precision, I've heard they pretty much insist on no improv on the set.  Actors say the words they are given, nothing more, nothing less.  And it shows.  Scenes in their films have a flow to them, a flow that is calculated.  You might think that such an approach would lead to somewhat wooden performances, but no, this isn't the case.  Actors and actresses have received six Academy Award nominations in Coen Brothers films with two winners, Frances McDormand and Javier Bardem. The Coen Brothers are true originals with a solid understanding of the great traditions of filmmaking.  They know the rules and can therefore break them with panache.

In the movie four brothers why did they kill the mother?

The mother was killed not because she was there in the store during the staged robbery but because she had a large insurance policy ($400,000) that one of her adopted son's could have used to pay back or pay off some big shot city official--the corrupt city councilman Victor Sweet. Jeremiah had a legitimate business in his neighborhood and the city council had not approved his loans because he wasn't going to pay the huge gangster fees. So it was an elaborate conspiracy.
Originally under the impression the crime was a simple "robbery-gone-wrong", the brothers soon discover that the robbery was merely a cover for what was, in fact, a "hit" put out on their beloved mother. After this revelation, Bobby, Angel, Jeremiah, and Jack Mercer track down the hired guns via the alleged "witness", named Damian, who was paid by the hit men. Information was given to them by Damian's brother after Jack noticed him leaving the stands after they interrupt a basketball game trying to get answers. The Brothers find Damian while entering his apartment and he gives up the location of the hit men after falling and badly injuring his leg. The brothers then approach the contract killers at a bar, which leads to an intense car chase. The assassins are eventually cornered and, refusing to say anything, are unceremoniously executed by Bobby and Angel....

What are some your favorite scenes from the Coen Brothers movies?

Okay, this is an easy one. My husband and I quote lines from Cohen Brothers movies all the time, depending on the context. To any fan, these lines themselves will make you visualize the scene. “Fargo”: “Whoop, hahahaha” (kidnappers watch as their blindfolded and barefoot victim runs through the snow and falls) …“You see something down there Margie”? No, I just think I'm gonna barf”. Well, that passed. Now I'm hungry again”…. Jerry Lundegard, being interviewed by Margie “I should know, I'm the executive SALES manager”! And of course the famous wood chipper scene … “and I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper”? Actually, all scenes … it's my favorite movie. “The Big Lebowski”: “That rug really tied the room together”…“I hate the fuckin' Eagles, man”…. “Hey, take it easy man! I have a beverage here”… Bunny: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars”. The Dude: “Lemme go find a cash machine”… Walter: “YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS LARRY”?! …. “Shut the fuck up Donnie”… “You want a toe? I can get you a toe”…. Dude: “What is that, yoga”? Maude: “It increases the chances of conception”… Jeff Bridges spit take … And … “Raising Arizona”: Hi: “I think I got the best one”. Ed: sobbing …. “I love him sooo much”! … “Gimme that baby! I want that baby! GIMME THAT BABY YOU WARTHOG FROM HELL”! …. “He went and had himself a little 'ol rest stop” …. “IT'S OUR BABY TOO”! …. “Has he had his dip tet”? You gotta get him his dip tet”…. “Do they blow up into funny shapes at all”? “No, just circular. Unless circular's funny”….. “Son, you got a panty on your head”…. And the scene where Hi is rounding up the babies. And Nicholas Cage's hair.
