What Are Some Movies That Relate To Us History

How Can You Relate Psychology and the Movie American History X?

Since the college semester is over for most people, I'm going to assume you're in highschool, or some weird private college, which means I probably need your help, not vice versa.

Topics seen in American History X include:
social psych
Obedience (Cameron Alexander/Derek to thugs)
Authority (Sweeney to Danny)
Conformity (prison, gang)
Discrimination (white vs black, the whole movie)
Stress (Derek in prison, father's death)
learning
classical conditioning
operant conditioning
observational learning (danny from Derek)
developmental psychology
development stages (Danny's age, Derek's age when dad died/when turned white power)
attachment (little girl, not sure how old she is)
personality and personality disorders (they have a lot)

That's more than enough ways, theory and examples, that psychology is portrayed.

How can the movie "Dunkirk" relate to US history?

Movie Topics for US history late-19th Century?

I'm assuming you probably want to get away from the "usual" stuff, like the Transcontinental Railroad.

Recently, I saw a fascinating documentary about Ellis Island on the History Channel (http://www.history.com/search?search-fie... It talked all about how the entire immigration process in the U.S. came about (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellis_Islan... the way they kept records, and how they changed people's names, but the most interesting parts had to be the medical exams that the immigrants were subjected to (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellis_Islan... Some of this stuff was insane, like using button hooks to check for an eye disease called trachoma. They would really interest (though possibly gross out) your classmates.

Also, you could do something about the tenements on the Lower East Side of New York City (and the cholera, dysentery, and typhoid fever outbreaks that happened as a result) or the lace curtain" versus "shanty" Irish immigrants. In addition, you could talk about the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1882, the anti-Italian lynching in New Orleans in 1891, or French Canadians leaving Quebec and settling in the Northeast. All topics that we should know more about.

As for industrialization, you could do something about Andrew Carnegie, industrialization in a specific region other than New York City (like the rise of the Rust Belt cities in Ohio or Southern cities like Birmingham), or child labor laws.

Anyway, there are some cool topics you could do. Look around here for more: http://www.history.com/topics. Good luck!

1492-1865 U.S. History Movie to Watch?

Okay, well I need a lot of help. I need to find a movie that I can get at Blockbuster that can be from 1492 to 1865. It needs to be somewhat historically true and I have to write an essay on it. Can someone please give me a list of movies you know that have been in that time era so I can rent at Blockbuster?

What movies could I watch to review AP US history topics?

1776 is a great musical about the Declaration of Independence. But it also has much of the actual debate that took place during the Continental Congress. William Daniels plays Adams, Ken Howard is Jefferson.

John Adams, starring Paul Giamatti, which was on HBO last year, is a very good review of early US history

There are many films about the Civil War.
Glory, about the Massachusetts 54th, is very specific, but excellent. Great performances by Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman.

Roots is one of the best mini-series ever done. Brilliant work all around by the cast, reviews slavery 1750 to 1865.

To cover US history 1950 to 1980, Forrest Gump is actually lots of fun. Tom Hanks is great, and the soundtrack rocks.

To find more, just go out the Internet Movie Database. Under their search site, go to Word Search under Keywords, and just type what you're looking for.

What is the best American history movie? The problem with your question is there is not a single movie that tells the storty of American hostory well as there is some much of the story to tell over 240 years as a country and longer as a colony of Britain.
