Does the word "shy" carry a negative connotation?
People constantly describe my three year old little girl as "shy". I'm afraid she hear's this and is starting to think that it's a negative trait. Lately, we'll see her pouting and ask what is wrong. She says she is sad because she is shy. I don't even know that she knows exactly what the word really means. She does know that people say it to her when she is not talking or not responding to their questions. How can I teach her that it's ok to be who she is and that "shy" is not a bad thing? I just don't want her to start accepting it as a negative when it is just who she is.

I'm not in a cult or anything like that, but I just read that a political staffer had to leave a campaign for calling Mormonism a cult. I looked up the word 'cult' on dictionary.com and here's the definition: 1. a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies. 2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, especially as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult. 3. the object of such devotion. 4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc. 5.
