What Are Some Pretty Cool Things To Do At The Zoo

How to keep my baby cool at the zoo?

You should definitely put sunscreen on your baby, but make sure it is a gentle sunscreen that will not harm his new, sensitive skin. Put your baby in a stroller with a cloth shade cover and dress him in clothing suitable for warm weather. If the child does not object to sunglasses, put those on him/her, too. I would suggest taking a fan/water-squirting device with you and occasionally fanning or squirting the baby (make sure the stream of water is soft and gentle).

What are some good free things to do in Escondido, CA?

Lawrence Welks now has stuff like a water park - How many old dudes put on their Speedo boardshorts and take a water slide?

And, yes, several parks in Escondido look crummy, but Escondido has the most park acreage in North San Diego County and the most per capita in So Cal so actually, there are a few that are pretty nice.

Weekdays you can visit Dixon Lake for free. Your daughter would probably enjoy it if you rented a peddle boat, there's also a playground there. Kit Carson park in the far south and Jessmond Dean on the far north both have nice enough playgrounds - they are usually crowded on weekends also. Birthday parties, soccer and baseball games. Rod McLeod park has been quiet on weekends because it is pretty hard to find.

When it's hot, I take the kids to the McDonald's indoor play areas - one at Mission and Center City and one on the top floor, north side of North County Fair off the Via Rancho exit from I-15... For five bucks you get two bags of french fries, two sodas, and an hours air conditioned entertainment..

No petting zoo. No beach. Lots of stuff for wealthy, nostalgic, adults. She might enjoy seeing the hundreds of antique cars, hot rods and live music on Friday nights in the summer on Grand Ave. or she might be afraid by all of the loud noise and crowds.

There is a Children's Museum at the Center of the Arts and there's the Mingei art museum and the Queen Califia's magical circle - Niki de Saint Phalle sculpture garden down at Kit Carson, but my boys are so active, if the activity doesn't include running and screaming, it's just no fun.

There is a Chuck 'e Cheese on Valley Parkway near the 15, and the first Saturday of the month at 9 AM you can take your daughter to one of the two Home Depot's and they'll have a free craft project for her to hammer and glue. Don't be late though, they can get crowded.

The library has a few children's programs, a First Thursday Concert, everything's free. Here is their calendar: http://www.library.escondido.org/calenda...

enjoy!

What are the most cool things in San Diego that tourists never do?

I would simply say EXPLORE THEIR SURROUNDINGS. All the tourists go to the usual places like the zoo, balboa park, the beach, sea world, etc. But the fact is you don't have to go very far to find something interesting in SD. Which is great when a lot of tourists like to stay downtown. They have no idea that there are some very interesting hidden landmarks and trails very close to the city in the hills behind them. So hidden (in fact) that not even a lot of locals may know about them unless they live in the immediate area or somehow get shown them. And off the top of my head, the one that stands out the most in my mind is the spruce street suspension bridge. It's been there since the early 1900's but most people have no clue! Spruce Street suspension bridge Bankers Hill bridges Uptown urban hikesThen there's  also the maple canyon trail and quince street bridge a bit south of there as well.On top of those two is the balboa trail that runs along the 163 from one end of western balboa park, along 6th. And it goes all the way from one end to the other before it even crosses over the 163 north by the marston house and comes out near the boy scout HQ on upas & richmond street (near roosevelt jr high & the SDZ)I mean all of these landmarks and trails are within fairly easy walking distance of downtown, you can do a whole loop around out there and back in about 2 hrs with a decent pace. I know cause I go walking/hiking up into the neighborhoods around there all the time and have done all the routes/landmarks I talk about In fact that's where I got most of these pics and took the vid,lol (with the exception of the google image pics of the suspension bridge)

What are cool non-obvious things to see at the San Diego Zoo?

The zoo system in San Diego consists of both the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Wild Animal Park. If you're just talking both zoos, the coolest things to see are probably infant animals. During the spring, there are tons of infant animals in both parks. They are typically playful and engaging, but you can only see them behind glass. Some of my other favorites are koalas, kiwis, and hippos -- and in the summer, the zoo stays open later so you can wander around at dusk when animals really come out.If babies aren't your thing, there are plenty of other things to see and do, but they are pretty much the most obvious -- the most famous and obvious is the panda at the Zoo, or taking the tour at the Wild Animal Park. The tour at the Zoo is just an excuse not to walk, though it can be very entertaining. Sky Fari is also a good way to make it back to the entrance after walking to the west side of the zoo.

What are good things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

You will be staying in Nuevo Vallarta, which is a half hour taxi ride from Puerto Vallarta. There is not much night life outside the resorts in Nuevo and most of the things you listed are on the other side of PV. The best thing to do is to plan a day trip or two for your visits to do what you want to do. Going to the beaches north of Nuevo can be fun. Sayulita is a good surfing spot, and the town of Bucerias has a market and some nice restaurants. If you are with the one you love, it will be an exciting and wonderful adventure.

What cool things can a group of international high school or college kids do in Philadelphia?

There are so many wonderful things to do in Philadelphia.  The Phila Zoo, the oldest in the country, is great!  Easy to get to by SEPTA.  I would also suggest the Constitution Center across from Independence Hall.  It is relatively knew and worth visiting.  The Liberty Bell is right there as well.  If you like museums, you are  in luck.  There are several along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.  The Franklin Institute, Touch Me Museum, the Rodin Museum and  the Philadelphia Museum of Art are all within walking distance.  In fact, everything pretty much within walking distance.  I would also check out the Kimmel Center and attend a Phila Orchestra concert if possible  The Academy of Music, also on Broad Street, is the home of the Philly Pops.  Rittenhouse Square at 18th and Walnut, is a beautiful park in the heart of center city.  I would also walk around Washington Square Park near Olde City.  It has been totally renovated and is stunning!  The Bourse is directly across the street and used to be a stock exchange but now has high end stores and a food court.  The architecture is impressive.  I would also check out South Street-eclectic shops and restaurants like NY.  Next year, the tallest skyscraper in Philly will be finished and will be one of the tallest in the whole country.  It will be magnificent when completed.  There will be a 4 Seasons Hotel comprising the upper levels.  It will be green-friendly.  I think it will be around 64 stories along with a tower.  It will be Comcast Tower 2.

Fun things to do on club penguin?

Make new friends and you can do lots of things with them. You can form another band with your new friends and your current friend and when Club Penguin finish working on being able to hear your instruments at the Lighthouse it will be really cool because you can perform there and people will actually be able to hear you! Make your igloo into something different everyday. For example, one day it could be a shopping centre and the next day it could be a park or a beach or whatever. If you're getting bored of Club Penguin, just don't go on it or don't go on it everyday.

What is the strangest thing you have seen an animal do at a zoo?

A cigarette smoking chimp…..yes, you read that right.Years ago I was at the San Francisco zoo with some old college chums. Together, we decided to take a “mind altering substance”…. and strolled the zoo. After a while we came to the chimpanzee enclosure. At the edge of the moat separating the chimps and the people was a robust male sitting on the edge and clearly studying the visitors. Someone lit a cigarette and flicked it, un-smoked, across the moat to the chimp. And then something mind boggling happened….The chimp picked up the cigarette, reclined, and holding it between its first and second fingers (just like a human), calmly smoked the cigarette, all while studying us. He even flicked the ash off when it got too long. Now, remember, we were in an “altered state”. We, and others watched this in total awe and silence until the chimp stubbed out the butt, again, exactly like a person, then strolled off into a cave in the enclosure. The chimp had clearly learned this behavior by having untold hours to study visiting humans.Later, after we’d come down from our altered state and were having something to eat, I broached the experience, the conversation which went a bit like this…..(Me): “Hey…did you see a chimp smoke a cigarette? Because I swore I saw that, but, you know, not sure….”(Friend): “Yeah, pretty sure I saw that too….”(Other friends): Me too…(Me): That was one of the most bizarre experiences I’ve ever had….and because we…well…you know…. had to check if was real….”(Buddies): Yeah…it was real…bizarre…but real.Altered state or not, it gave me an amazing insight into just how like us chimps are….for better or for worse….Below: Dude, that’s bad for your health….
