What Are Some Things You Wish You Did In High School

What is one thing you wish you did in highschool?

I really wish I had cared enough to study and get good grades. High school was about having fun with my friends. I did just enough work to get by, and I know for a fact I could have done better, but found it boring and useless.I often wonder what options would have been available to me had I just taken my future seriously. I mean, I could be a traveling photographer and see the world. Or I could have gotten into law. I could have had the college experiences that help round a person out to better deal with social confrontations, making decisions, and solving problems. I could be working for a large, well-known company in a very well-paid position, being able to afford a nice house in the country or my dream condo high up in the city. Maybe I would have my own successful business. I imagine I would feel like a much more productive member of society. I would certainly be better at learning.I'm not saying that someone who hasn't done well in high school or gone on to college wouldn't have a chance at all these things and more. But I have not been that particular brand of successful. So, maybe I would have, had I taken the initiative then. But I didn't, and probably started this less-successful path just because of that.

What are some things you wish you had done while in high school?

If I could tell my freshman self what I would have wanted to finish by the end of high-school, it’d boil down to these 5 things.Write on quora/blog/try freelancing. You know you’re not half bad at it, so stop being so goddamn lazy and try writing.Fully commit to starting a social entrepreneurship club. Your economics teacher believes in you, is willing to contact other teachers for you and supervise your club. Your biology teacher let you use her room to build your first idea. Don’t take that for granted. It’s something you learned on a trip and grew to believe in because you want to make the world a better place- there’s no better time and place to start than early in school.Make drinking a crapton of water every day a habit. You like to run and stuff. You also like good grades. Water is healthy. Water helps with everything. Do it.Meditate. Inner peace… inner peace.Join the forensics (public speaking competition) club in freshman year. You don’t want to half-ass playing basketball when you know you have some kind of aptitude for speaking. You also don’t want to feel a sinking sensation of knowing you wasted years away when the forensics coach says: “Why haven’t you been doing this before?” after your first official tryout. There’s a gold medal there for you. Don’t let it slip away.In sum- do stuff. High-school is a time to be doing things. As much as I understand the allure of procrastination in lieu of making changes in life, I know that the level of fun I have when actually doing things far surpasses constantly chilling.

Do you wish you never had sex in high school?

That's why i slept with guys that went to a diff rent high school than me. I always thought of consequences.

What is something you wish you knew in high school?

I wish I knew that things that went wrong in high school did not mean the world as I knew it was coming to an end. There is life after high school.

What is something you wish you could do at school?

There are lots of things that I would like to do, being a student myself.Free clothesMost schools in the west allows their student to use free clothes, while most school in asia, particularly in my country requires a uniform, and that doesn’t apply only to clothes, but also to every detail. Even a different colored socks would get you to suspended despite wearing trousers covering it because it mismatched the uniform policy. Like, how is it going to affecr our studies? We really need more freedom.Waking up like how a human being is programmed.Every weekdays, I would wake up at 5am and school starts at 7am. The human brain is fully working at 8–9am above, yet school starts very early. What’s the point of starting very early when we could hardly learn due to fighting sleepiness. If the real purpose is to maximize school time, it’s better if school starts at 2 hours later and ends 2 hours later. That way, everyone wins.Using our phoneI still don’t get the point why school don’t allow student to use phone, yet they allow students to use laptops. The only difference with both is only the fact that phones can call. Allowing texting and not allowing calling doesn’t make sense at all.

Do you ever wish you were in High School again?

They say "the best years of your life"..is there any truth to that..or is it better in "the real world"? I'd say I enjoyed High School, but I'm liked more and succeeding more in the real world with people and work..

What do you wish you knew before graduating from high school?

Growing up in Los Angeles, I definitely wished that I knew to skip grad night at Disneyland (a huge waste of time, effort, and money). The odd looks on our teachers’ faces as we boarded the bus to Disneyland pretty much told the tale (they knew what a crappy time we were about to experience at the “happiest place on earth,” and that the joke was definitely on us (kind of one last “screw you” for all the the attitude we’d given them over the past three years).
