What Are Some Verses That Deal With Depression

How should I deal with my depression?

There are so many aspects to depression that there’s really no way to answer your question. It depends on what kind of depression you have, how bad it is, whether you are being treated by a psychiatrist or psychologist, even how old you are and your lifestyle.Without knowing any of that, all I can do is give you some general suggestions.If you’re not already being treated by a mental health professional, get yourself to one. You might benefit from an antidepressant, and you should probably be in therapy. Studies have shown that therapy is probably more important than medication in treating depression.Practice meditation. Start with a few minutes a day and gradually work up to longer sessions. Meditation is the best way I know of to calm the mind. There are lots of meditation apps available.Eat a healthy diet.Get enough sleep - set a sleep schedule for yourself (time you go to bed, time your alarm goes off). (Avoid screens at bedtime - they reduce the amount of melatonin (your body’s sleep hormone) produced, making it harder for you to get to sleep.)Get outside for some exercise and sun every day. Even a 30 minute walk is great!That’s a good place to start - but, as I said upfront, I can only generalize because you haven’t provided enough details.

Deuteronomy 31:8 “… It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”Deuteronomy 32:10: In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye.Psalms 34:17 When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.Psalms 40:1-3 I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.Psalms 3:3 But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.

Do things to minimize stress.If there’s an aspect of your life that’s pissing you off and it can be removed — remove it.For a few months I had a flock of roosters. Do you have any idea how much stress a flock of horny and ornery roosters can cause when they out number the hens?A bunch of roosters never go well. And a few of the roosters had a grudge against my wife — so, I kept them all penned up. They didn’t fight with each other or mess with me, but when they got out — they were complete cocks.…hence I learned how to Make offerings to the gods of the Prairie.They were sacrificed to appease the gods, you see?…however you wanna look at it…Huge, huge relief when they were gone. The hens were happy. My wife was happy. And I could sleep until dawn!Getting rid of the cocks in your life is of the utmost importance to sleeping well, diminishing the feelings of depression.If you’re not healthy — eat your fresh fruits, nuts, and veggies, and exercise as much as you’re able.If your house is a mess and making you sick — clean it or move. (Black mold is rather great at causing depression in some form or another.)If your relationships are in shambles — communicate with people to repair them, reconnect with family or old friends, or go make better relationships.Go be with people that care about your well-being.Do your best to not invite more stress into your life.Pay your bills, practice good hygiene, brush your teeth, take care of infections, fungal growths, yada-yada. And don’t quit your job in a manic moment…Keep breathing, and do whatever you can to take care yourself. Those days when you feel worthless and can’t move — take a shower, go sit in the sun, watch the birds, play some music, smile at yourself in the mirror, look at videos of laughing babies and cute kittens for a while..Remember that nobody gets stuck permanently in depression. I know it feels that way sometimes…believe me, after several years of fighting with it, I know that feeling. It can friggin’ snowball into a soul-crushing nightmare.But I can’t think of a single example where as long as the person kept breathing, it didn’t go away. Snowballs can be devastating, but they evaporate in the spring.Lots of us are living in some stressful times right now with the environment and global economies not working out for a lot of us — modern technology has made no room for impoverished or middle-class artists. The gig economy ain’t working well, blah-blah.Hang in there — the tides are always shifting.

What are some coping mechanisms to deal with severe depression? This is referring to the kind of depression that is constant and unrelenting, sucking the joy completely out of life.

There’s a saying in recovery circles, “Move a muscle, change a thought.” The strategy can help. Don’t just sit there. Get up and move somewhere else, even if it’s just inside to outside. Do something - which can be difficult when everything seems hard, but even something very simple will help. They say exercise helps and this may be true, but it’s hard to make yourself do something that physical when everything sucks. Start smaller if you need to.Have an activity on hand that calms you or that you enjoy. Keep a book handy. Or some craft project if it pleases you. Some simple activity that can calm your mind through repetition, with only a minimal expenditure of energy, since energy right now is at a premium.When I am down I find what I really want is comfort. This, for me, was found in repetitive and/or engrossing activities (such as reading). Some find value in meditation (I never took to it). Please avoid mind altering substances. They may help in the short term but in the long term will make things worse.

What are good bible verses about self-hatred or depression?

We are not without hope in the world (1 Corinthians 15:19; Colossians 1:5; Psalm 16:8-11). Even though we are sojourners and look for a better place, we hate evil, not ourselves (even though we sometimes produce evil). Because Christ’s righteousness is imputed to us by faith, we are righteous and should be glad; we should exult before God and be jubilant with joy (Psalm 68:3). Self-esteem advocates teach we must be of value to ourselves in order to be able to love others, but God tells us that we are nothing, unless and until we love others (I Cor 13:2). The joy of the Lord is your Strength and Stronghold (Nehemiah 8:10). Faith is your shield of protection in any depression battle (Eph 6:16).

Paul has a terrible self-esteem problem! Paul recognizes his rotten condition, to be resolved only through the gospel of the cross, which is a "humble servant" attitude. Eph 3:8; I Tim 1:15; Rom 7:24. The Bible actually has many passages that tell us what God has to say about our worth and our value in His eyes. Genesis 1:26-27 says we are made in His image, the very image of God. Psalm 139:13-16 says we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and all the days of our lives were written in God’s book before we were ever born, confirming God’s prior knowledge and plan for our lives. Ephesians 1:4 says God chose His children before the foundations of the earth were ever formed, and in Ephesians 1:13-14 we’re told we are God’s own possession chosen for the praise of His glory and that we have an inheritance in heaven with Him as His children.

But God, Who comforts and encourages and refreshes and cheers the depressed and the sinking, comforted and encouraged and refreshed and cheered us. - 2 Corinthians 7:6
ARISE (from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you) --rise to a new life!Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. -Isaiah 60:1

What does the Bible say about Depression?

The Bible makes no mention of depression. It also makes no mention of upset stomach, headache, athletes foot, diarrhea and dizziness. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Despite what experts of nothing beleive, like Tom Cruise, it can be treated very successfully with the proper medication.
Also strenuous exercise 3-4 days a week works wonders.

What are good uplifting bible verses for depression?

As you can see by the responses, this is not the place to find encouragement. The dogs begin to bark and circle around when they smell blood.

Jesus said this:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

"and call on me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

Psalm 50:15

"because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.”

So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”....... Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. "

Hebrews 13:5-6,8

Bible verses for a depressed/suicidal friend?

I wish I had friends more like you. If a person decides to commit suicide they will, unless God stops them & he may use you. I know not everyone will agree, but christians can & do commit suicide. Is it the only unforgiveable sin, because you can't ask for forgiveness? I sure hope not, but who would know unless they're dead. God healed me of terminal cancer while the doctors watched, but the hardest thing I've ever been through was major depression. I've tried three times to committ suicide & God saved me every time, not that I asked. One time I drove 50 miles from anyone & he spoke to people to find me. I would never test God, it's just sometimes I just want the world to go away. For me happiness takes work. I don't think of myself as mentally ill & neither do my doctors. Sometimes life is just more than we can take. Please send your friend the links below & let him know how much you care about what happens to him. Lose of all hope is a teriable thing.
