What Are Some Ways To Get Rid Of Dandruf

Easy ways to get rid of dandruff?

Dandruff is often associated with dryness of the scalp. There is however a world of difference between dandruff and flakes of dry skin from ones scalp, but it is no doubt a scalp problem. Medically, dandruff is known as ‘pityriasis’ and is a result of ‘seborrhea’ which is a disorder of the oil secreting glands of the scalp. Dandruff flakes are greasier than those of dry skin and impart an odor typical of themselves. Those who have dandruff have itchy, irritating scalps, characterized by redness. There are methods of getting rid of dandruff rather than wearing light coloured clothes to hide the while flakes which are almost as embarrassing as snowflakes are beautiful. The most important thing once you’ve identified dandruff (which is an infection) is to take some precautions to avoid the condition from becoming worse or spreading. If hair products like shampoos, conditioners, etc. are not washed off properly they magnify the ill effects of dandruff. It is also advisable not to share your hair styling tools like combs, hair brushes, rollers, etc if you suffer from dandruff to steer clear from passing it on. Anti dandruff shampoos are a cure for dandruff, but far from a permanent one. The problem returns within a short while of discontinuing usage of the shampoo. In India, on an average 30 out of 100 males and 50 out of a 100 females are victims of dandruff and consequently of the vicious ‘anti dandruff shampoo cycle’! There are few, but definitely existent ways to get rid of dandruff other than shampoos. One such cure is vinegar. Massage vinegar onto your scalp and leave it for few minutes before washing it off thoroughly. Follow the above procedure and you will see your dandruff start to disappear within a week’s time. The same steps as above can be carried out using lemon (about half) squeezed in warm hair oil to achieve considerably good results. Increasing ones intake of salads (mainly raw fruits and vegetables), vitamins B, C and E and zinc ( in the form of foodstuffs rich in these of supplements) and reducing that of fried and dairy foods, nuts and sugar is helpful in reversing the condition of a dandruff affected scalp. If the above techniques are not helpful, then your problem is more serious than what you are capable of handling on your own and what you need is a dermatologist.

Dandruff can be caused by many things, but basically just dry skin sloughing off. A lot depends on the actual coat of the dog, if they have natural long hair and you cut that off, I have seen this many times in hot climates, they are exposed to sun and wind damage to the skin and that will dry their skin. Often the easiest way to get rid of the dandruff is to brush them a couple of times a day with a brush that is gentle but can get down to their skin, that moves any of their natural skin oils around to help out in dryer areas. Dogs and other animals can also suffer some of the same things as humans, I have plaque psoriasis and it will never go away, just have to keep clean and do the best I can. Animals are the same way, some things never go away. Don’t bath them too often, that removes their natural oils in the skin, once a month is usually Ok. If it is really bad, take them to a vet. they can do tests to figure out what is wrong and any possible treatment.

Dad's advice when I was a kid, which actually worked (I'm not sure if it was this, or the dandruff just decided to pack up and leave one day, so I'm not guaranteeing anything.): Apply hair oil before you go to sleep in the night, and wash it off in the morning  with a soap, or a really really mild shampoo. Don't use a hard shampoo that steals moisture from your scalp, or all of this will be in vain.Do this for a couple of days, and if there are visible changes, continue until you no longer have to worry about dandruff. Discontinue otherwise.

I have dandruff and need ways to get rid of it?

It doesn't matter what kind of mixture or shampoo you use on you're hair. It depends on HOW you wash it. I used to have dandruff from K-5, and now i'm in 8th grade and my hair has never been better. But anyways, just follow my steps here:

1. Pour a good half dollar sized amount of shampoo in your hand. Don't worry. The amount of shampoo doesn't vary on hair length. I use the same amount and my hair is above my shoulders.

2. Don't lather it in you're hands, just gently start to work it into your hair and make your way to the scalp.

3. You MUST massage the shampoo into your scalp for a good minute or so, because this is cleaning out all the dandruff. So, massage your scalp good and hard until you feel your arms begin to ache and the shampoo becoming a fluffy lather.

4. Rinse the shampoo out and remember (this is extremely important), rinse it out good. By doing so, you must massage your scalp and hair the same as you did when you were lathering the shampoo. This does a tremendous effect to dandruff.

Now, for conditioning.

1. Pour a quarter sized amount of conditioner in your hand and rub together with both hands. Do not use too much, though. This is because conditioner is very thick and will cause oily hair which was also the cause of my own dandruff.

2. Begin to work the conditioner into you're tips, working it in hard. WARNING. Only use conditioner on the ends of you're hair. Try to avoid the roots completely. Conditioner is only used to make hair easy to comb through, and nothing else.

3. When washing conditioner out of you're hair, you have to scrub very hard since conditioner has a more thick and richer substance than shampoo. (That is why it is not transparent.) Now, begin to scrub the ends of you're hair with you're finger tips until you feel the hairs become smooth and not heavy. That is when you're finished.

I'm pretty sure that my instructions will work. I based them on my own experience and hair type. My hair type is oily, so I don't use conditioner near the top of my head. But if your hair is dry, then feel free to spread the conditioner wherever (excpet the roots. If you put conditioner on your roots, you're hair will become heavy and greasy).

Hope I helped! (:

Dandruff is a build-up of too much oil on the scalp.
When excess oil is generated by the glands at the base of the hair follicles, a person can end up with dandruff.
The flakes associated with dandruff are the shedding of this excess oil combined with dead skin cells from the scalp.

In the meantime, do not over-wash your hair. Washing it every other day allows the natural oils a chance to replenish without over-producing.

Make certain to rinse your hair thoroughly after washing so you don't leave any shampoo residue that could build up and cause more flaking. You might also try rinsing your hair with vinegar.

How do I get rid of Dandruff?

Do not bother with any special shampoos, etc.

What you need is a really good scalp brush. Dandruff is just old skin cells that haven't been scraped off because your hair is in the way.

I take a shower every day, and I use my scalp brush everyday in the shower before I shampoo and as I shampoo. And I NEVER have any dandruff.

The scalp brush I use has little short teeth that are really sharp. In fact, when I first started using it, I thought the teeth were too sharp, but now I'm used to it. It feels good.

The teeth on my scalp brush are about a quarter inch long. And sharp.
