What Are Some Yummy Snacks Without Corn

Is eating breakfast cereal as a snack without milk a good idea if you're trying to lose weight?

Cereal is bad because it’s processed food and it has lots of carbs. If you’re trying to lose weight, then lose carbs.A bit longer explanation is here:All diets are unsuccessful in long-term.You need to change your lifestyle.Keep carbs at or below 25 gr a day.Keep proteins at 1 gr per kg body weight per day.Eat as much fats as you like.Cook on butter (or coconut oil).Put olive oil (lots of it!) on your salads.Drink only water (lots of it!), teas, and coffees. An occasional glass of wine or shot of hard stuff will not kill you.Eat once a day.Experiment with intermittent fasting.Start with 8 hours on, 16 off; then one day on and one day off.Don’t go more than three days on fasting - it’s not necessary. One half of your plate should be vegetables (if possible, raw).Exercise.Do whatever you like (walking, biking, swimming, running, soccer, and other games). It’s better to change periods of high intensity with relaxation periods.Stretching and limbering before and after exercise is mandatory.Explore martial arts, various sports, Zumba, calisthenics, Pilates, yoga, anything!Sleep eight hours every day.Always go to bed at the same time.Don’t eat or drink anything two hours before going to bed.Overall, healthy longevity can be accomplished by:Exercising.Eating less than necessary.Being slightly underweight. Finally, mind over body:Meditation. If you are religious, pray.Visit Diet Doctor - Making low carb simple.Search for weight loss topics at Quora.Similar questions were posted a lot here.Various interesting links on my Quora blog.

What are some delicious and healthy snacks for kids?

I really encourage people not to make snack time an event.Don't make snack food beautiful and delicious.Snack foods and snack these days are often appearing much tastier and better looking than a lot of parent’s baseline cooking skills.A snack is supposed to just take the edge off of hunger. Now they’re looking like small to medium sized meals.Young children are often being conditioned to eat too much and one of the troublesome points is… snack.“Healthy” snacks are not an innocent player in the development of continuous eating habits.“Healthy Snacks” still lead to problematic behaviors like not eating enough of the nutritious things at meal times. They’re not hungry enough at 5:30 pm because of their continuous eating. They ate 17 grapes, adult portions of cheddar cheese, and 8–10 organic rounds (Whole Food substitute for Ritz) at 3:45/4pm.“Healthy Snacking” contributes just as much to kid’s palates being developed around “healthy” treat foods so they try to refuse eating vegetables and grains because they aren’t “yummy” enough.I’ve been there. Believe me.If a child is actually really hungry, try to offer all fruits, nuts, carrots and hummus, some sliced ham, half a turkey sandwich with avocado on whole grain bread, edamame, maybe freshly popped pop corn with light salt and olive oil for an occasional treat, etc.Stuff you probably already have.Toddlers?A small piece of bread with nut butter or hummus and a small glass of milk is fine.Instead of letting them graze cup after cup on all of this lovely packaged snacks of finger foods that seem made just for your toddler, try to serve dinner closer to 5pm.That way you don’t need to use snacking to get them through the rest of the day.We need to encourage more deliberation and decision making around eating with kids. This starts with conditioning children that they don’t need to always eat snacks or treat themselves with food. Many say they’re hungry when they aren’t. They just want… something. When we don’t have cute and exciting things readily on hand to eat, and we reply with requests like this:“You’re hungry? Have some pistachios or a slice of watermelon.”Kids can stop, think, and then say, “Hmmm. Okay!” or “Hmmm. I guess I’m not that hungry. I can wait.”They’ll be thinking about it.That’s a very good thing.

Is steamed corn on the cob a healthy snack for someone on a diet?

Most people fail to acknowledge that corn is a whole grain. Corn on the cob is a very healthy food.
If you are using a small amount of butter you are okay to as long as it is part of an overall healthy diet lifestyle.
After weaning myself off of processed and refined foods my desensitized taste buds have really changed without all the added salts and sugars.
It is amazing how good simple fresh foods taste. Corn on the cob is one of those foods,. Plus it is a great fiber source.

Avoid creamed corn at all costs. Corn is naturally high in sugars and they add even more to creamed corn. Turns a good food into hummingbird food.

I'm 18 and rarely ever eat fruits or veggies, but I realize I need to eat them daily to prolong life and stay healthy. I tend to have a gag reflex problem every time I attempt to eat one. I'm just looking for advice from people who may have been in my boat at some time in their life.

Thanks in advance
