What Are The Best Cities In The U.s. In Your Opinion You

What are the best cities to live in the US?

I think it depends on what you're looking for (low crime, outdoor adventure, schools, arts, etc), but here are some of the best cities:New York City - New York City is one of the most popular cities in the world for a reason, mainly because it has everything, no matter what you're looking for. I could use a bit more access to the outdoors, but Central Park and Prospect Park at least give you a place to run and bike if you leave near them.Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh? For real? Yep! Love it. It has a bad rap because it was a wasteland for two decades after the steel industry declined. But Pittsburgh has made a huge resurgence with a focus on health care, robots, technology, and awesome universities. The neighborhoods surrounding Pitt and Carnegie Mellon are full of awesome places and the downtown is twice as clean as NYC.Asheville - For the outdoor enthusiast. Asheville is a hip, artsy town with easy access to some great mountains.Portland - Hip and cool. Portlandia is like a little Seattle, except now it's an equal rather than a little brother.San Francisco/San Diego - I don't know which city I like better, but both are pretty darn cool. San Diego feels a little more laid back and calm, while San Fran has a bit more going on. Both have nice access to the water and outdoor adventure (a must for me).Worst cities:Miami - I may take some heat for this, but I greatly dislike Miami, despite its intense popularity. It feels incredibly fake and forced and everyone is incredibly image conscious. Maybe some people can look past this for its nice beaches and cool nightlife, but I can't. As soon as I got there, I sort of wanted to get out.Cleveland - It's pretty bare and boring. Town motto: "At least we're not Detroit".Detroit - To be fair, I think Detroit will make a big turnaround in the next 10 years or so just like Pittsburgh has done recently. However, right now, most of the city still feels like a semi-war zone, so it's not the best place to be. But there has been some signs of a resurgence. All in all, it depends on what you're looking for, but these are some of my fave cities.

What in your opinion is the best city for me to live if I am a Sunni Muslim?

It depends!I personally find Winnipeg, Manitoba or any of the cities that form part of the GTA, Ontario to be fine. But I have also lived in small town Manitoba and there are masjids there too. Most of Canada and as such Canadian cities are fine.I have also enjoyed masjids in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, Trinidad and masjids in Chinese cities too.So essentially, you are the one who makes a city a great place to live, by being a sterling citizen. That being said, I would avoid some US states but that is hearsay.

What, in your opinion and why, are the 5 best cities to visit as a tourist?

I’ll give two answers, the first for someone who has never traveled abroad (if you’re not American, add New York City to his list).Paris — hands down, no competition. I’ve been there 15 times and I’ll keep going back for the rest of my life.Rome — Sort of Avis to Paris’s Hertz, or better say Ajax to Paris’s Achilles. Been there 7 times.London — sure, the blitz devastated many beautiful old parts, and it’s hard to find many evocative little Dickensian cobblestoned alleys anymore, but there’s a ton to see and do, and it’s one of the very best vacations for young children, who love castles, and mummies, and changing of the guard, and royal processions, and the crown jewels and the torture chambers.Prague — unspeakably gorgeous at night, and impeccab ly preserved, since Chamberlain negoptiated away all their defenses and they had to surrender immediately to Hitler.Mexico City — the biggest, oldest, culturally richest, and historically most complex city in the Western Hemisphere, with amazing food and weather, beautiful women, very gay-friendly, and exuberant in spirit …..with tons of stuff to see and do.These are all cliches, of course, but there’s a reason they’re so popular. So here’s list two, for the well-traveled person, with some gems he or she might have missed:Bruges — maybe the most beautiful city on Earth;Strasbourg — ibid.Talinn — a fairy tale confectionDubrovnik — walking the city walls will be the single best experience you’ll have, the year you visit.Cartagena — the third cornice of “The Spanish Main”, and probably the prettiest in all of South America.I know I short-changed Asia in these choices, so why don’t I say Nara just for the hell of it, at #6 on the less known list, and Bangkok at #6 on the best-known list..

Which US city has the best jazz scene in your opinion?

I’m from New York, and many people would call it the best one on the East Coast. So much of jazz was created in Harlem, though the scene is mostly downtown now. There’s no shortage of great venues with so many styles of jazz represented.Every major city in the US has a jazz scene to some degree, but aside from New York, New Orleans has probably the most vibrant and prominent one. It’s such a major part of the city’s culture and identity and music is literally being performed everywhere you go and look!

Top ten most beautiful US States (in your opinion)?

Really tough call because each and every state is beautiful in its own way and also every state has parts that are somewhat undesirable. However these ten stick out in my mind as having the best scenery and landscape.

My top 10:
1. California: it has everything, beautiful coastline, gorgeous forests and desert with the countryside in the middle to boot.
2. Vermont: You can see and feel all four seasons here and unlike in most states they are all pleasant and beautiful.
3. Hawaii: it's the biggest tourist attraction for a reason!
4. Idaho: Usually doesn't stick out as being beautiful to most people but if you've ever been to the mountains of Oregon, California or Washington, Idaho's scenery is just as good, maybe even better.
5. Florida: Amazing beaches. Lots of sunshine. Nice weather. Loads of greenery.
6. Alaska: Unlike any other state. The most dramatic landscape in the country.
7. Georgia: Trees draped in Spanish moss. Nice small coastline. Hotlanta.
8. Kentucky: Green rolling hills. Horses. Need I say more?
9. Oregon: Portland! Beautiful Willamette Valley and mountain range.
10. Michigan: The Great Lake State. Beautiful winters.

other beautiful states:
NH, NC, TN, WV, AZ, NY and many many more

What are the best cities and states in america?

= San Fransico, California. Because they have lots of water by them, in case you want to live by water, and they have the famous Golden Gate Bridge, which is red, hahaha.

Houston, Texas. This is out in the desert, where it is nice and hot. Texas is home of the Alamo, a very nice place to visit. I recommend you vist it, if you decide here.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Wisconsin is the dairy state. Milwaukee, though, has some gangs that wander at nights, but it's a nice place, as long as you don't go out to late past dark. But, anywhere in Wisconsin is very nice. Sheboygan, maybe. Steven's Point. Milwaukee used to be top in Brewery, for the USA. But anywhere in Wisconsin is great. I plan trips there this summer, and I used to live there, when I was very young. And the gangs are only in Milwaukee.

New York, New York. If you're busy as a bee, live here. The streets are always bustling with activity, and the lights never go out on the streets. Lots of taxis and what not out in the night, but has a lot of jobs, some great history, and low crime rates.

Chicago, Illinois. Just like a mini New York, New York. Littler, but a lot of activity, including the first skyscraper was here. The Seer's Tower. And, all the buildings used to be made of wood, and a cow kicked over a candle-lit lantern, and the great Chicago fired started, leaving the whole city in ashes. This was when Pabst, a last name of a famous brewer, sent beer from Milwaukee to Chicago and it won a blue ribbon and that's how Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer came.

What cities in the United States have the best skylines?

Please list the top ten U.S. skylines in your opinion (based on size, architecture, landscape, expanse, etc). I have to say:

2. Chicago
3. Atlanta
4. Seattle
5. St. Louis
6. Minneapolis
7. Miami
8. Dallas
9. Los Angeles
10. Charlotte

What is your opinion of Detroit?

It's funny how there's always at least one idiot who has to comment on a city they have never even visited. "I never been but I heard this, I heard that" THEN DON'T ANSWER THE QUESTION DUMB ASSES!!

Regardless of it's bad rep and, history of dirty politics, Detroit is actually a city rich in culture and, history (good and, bad, but rich). Detroit also is one of the United States best sports cities which all of it's teams have a good history of performance not to include the lions who hopefully some day will come around as a franchise.

Detroit also like any other city has it's good areas and, bad areas. Detroit's good areas such as downtown and some of it's upper class historical areas are often overshadowed by the media profiting off of any bad news that come out of Detroit. Detroit is a good city that needs some TLC so to speak.

EDIT: Speak for yourself Ignatz, I have been all around the world during my years in the Military and, have been around to most cities in the country. I honestly was not Impressed with a lot of places. My loyalty to Detroit is NOT from lacking traveling expereince.

Americans: in your opinion, what is the best state to live in, and why?

"1) The relationship between quality and cost of life2) Job offers (I'm not referring to a particular sector)3) The presence of beautiful natural features"None of those things really are in abundance for any one place. Here are the US national parks (the simplest way of quantizing something entirely subjective: beauty, that I could think of):Life expectancy by region:Obesity by state:Gun deaths by region (counting suicides):States by homicide rate:Employment prospects also depend a lot on your skills. If you have any sort of skills with programming, you could get a job in California despite the high unemployment rateI guess some places in Arizona and New Mexico would have a very low cost of living, and good job prospects, with beautiful scenery if you don't mind 50 C or 122 F in summer. Most places in the US with a higher cost of living have higher wages, while places with a lower cost of living have higher unemployment and lower wages. I am actually leaving the US this year. If I had to stay anywhere.... I would move to Ventura, CA. It has a high quality of living, but moderate to low job prospects, high wages, and high cost of living. It is just a few hours though from LA, San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, Las Vegas, and several national parks. The water is also warm enough to swim in in summer. The state I currently live in, Utah, actually has a lot of everything a people would look for:higher than average life expectancylower than average obesitylots of natural beauty (5 national parks, ancient Anasazi ruins, pretty snow in winter)  low crime In one dimension this did not capture however, it is not a fun place to live. It is one of the most fundamentalist places in the country. Living here as a more left-leaning non-Christian is awkward, as I explained in my answer to What is it like to be single in your 20s in Salt Lake City? It also has a very disproportionate hate-crime rate:
