What Are The Best Things To Buy On Craigslist And Sell On Ebay

Best ways to sell things? Amazon, eBay, Craigslist, or other?

As a seller, the most important thing you want to consider is the size of your potential market. A basic business tenet is ‘The greater the potential market, the greater the potential to maximum profits.’ Then again, it all depends on what you want to buy and / or sell. Each fills a niche.

There isn’t another auction site on the web that can hold a candle to eBay. Many have tried and many have failed and yet, many are still trying. Ebay has a virtual lock on this business. This is where you want to sell as ebay has the largest potential market.

Your greatest potential market is eBay WORLDWIDE, not just the USA.

Yes, there are fees but you would not have access to this huge market had it not been for eBay. Reaching this market is part of what your fees are for. In short, there will ALWAYS be a cost of doing business, whether it be in money, time or both.

While free, Craigslist is basically a classified that limits you to your general geographic area. This, in turn, drastically limits your potential market. If you want to reach the most people to maximize your profits, ebay is still the way to go.

Craigslist, for the most part, and the niche it fills, is for larger and/or heavier items that are cumbersome to easily and inexpensively ship like furniture, weights/dumbbell sets, cars, swing sets, bicycles, etc. Also, CASH is king with Craigslist. Do tell the buyers beforehand that you will accept ONLY CASH. Be leery of anyone who makes inquiries about your item(s) from outside the geographic area in which you posted the item.

Also, it’s a crazy world! As most Craigslist buyers will arrive at your home to pick up their merchandise, I would advise people, especially women, who use Craigslist to have at least two other people with them when the buyer arrives. You just never know what kind of riff-raff may show up at your doorstep. The person who arrives may be a heavy drooler and look like Quasimodo. You don’t want to be terrified alone, do you? You want to be terrified with at least two other people. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. You could also, of course, agree to meet the buyer in a safer, public area.

GOOD LUCK!

I am selling stuff on eBay, can I post on craigslist that I am selling on eBay?

Absolutely not. Craigslist is for local, face-to-face, cash transactions only. Posting your auctions there is rude and violates the TOS, and would get flagged off. The more often your ads are flagged off, the fewer flags are needed to flag off your ads until it gets to the point that they come down in seconds.

The point of eBay is to deliver prospective buyers. If you're posting your auctions correctly, and you are offering items that people want for a fair price and have a good feedback rating, you won't need to post anywhere else. If you're not posting your auctions correctly or have these other problems, you can wallpaper the planet with ads for your listings and they still won't sell.

The bottom line is to stop looking for places to spam and start looking for ways to improve your listings.

What are good things to buy then resell on ebay?

As a longtime eBay seller, I suggest you do some research first. First scour local thrift stores, auctions, estate and garage sales. Make notes of items that you find interesting and the price that the seller is asking. Then log on to eBay and put in the name of the item and click on "Completed Listings". That will tell you what eBay buyers are willing to pay for it. After a while, you should get an idea of what's hot, what's not and the price point at which you need to buy to make a profit. But a few suggestions to start with: vintage Pyrex, vintage toys, vintage musical instruments, college textbooks (no more than 3 years from copyright), collectibles, car parts. Stay away from electronics since you may get them returned if they're not working 100%. Also beware of reproductions in the collectibles market - especially Coca Cola and antiques.

Do i need a business license to sell things on craigslist or ebay?

Iam a stay at home mom and my husband is military. I have no income of my own and i wanted to do a little something so id have my own money. I go to lots of yard sales and thirft stores and was thinking of turning it into a little business of buying a few items ( furniture, bags anything at a good deal) keeping them in my home and then selling it on craigs list (maybe ebay but more then likly craigs list only) then doing it over again. do i need a license or any special permits? I want to make sure i go about it the right way.

Ebay vs craigslist vs amazon?

Having had a bad experience with Amazon some time ago, I now avoid them.

eBay: you have a potentially worldwide market for items you're selling, an integrated payment system, feedback system, and seller's tool to manage and track your listings.

Craigslist: Considerably limited compared to eBay. No integrated payment system a la PayPal, and items sold require either in-person pickup or delivery.

One pro: if you need to sell something quickly, it's useful for that. I used Craigslist to sell a camera and some accessories last December to rapidly raise money to pay an overdue storage bill. I couldn't use eBay because of the lead time to get a check issued by PayPal for the proceeds.

I buy and sell Apple products on eBay and craigslist. My apartment got robbed, and the thieves made off with $7000 worth of merchandise and $3200 cash. What should I do?

What people reading can learn from this is to get a P.O. Box for use online to hide you’re home address and to never meet strangers at your home. If you’re selling lots of product on eBay and Craigslist you don’t want to make it known that all of this traces back to your residence.Another thing is to keep records of all the imei numbers. These are unique to each device and will always be available to track down a device if you ever happened to see it for sale online or at a pawn shop. It’s what you can put down in a police report to identify the items.$7,000 of electronics?! Consider getting a safe. How Much Do Security Safes Cost?Security Safe Average CostsA durable, fire resistant 24" x 20" safe costs $600 to $800.Cheaper safes of the same size are available for $200 to $400, but they do not have a fire rating and are of inferior construction. Larger safes, 36" x 24" and larger, will cost up to $1,200 for quality.I’m surprised imei #s are not required on every single internet listing and pawn shop report. It’d basically trump resale to parts and streets. Keeping phones locked to your iCloud until resale would be a“ha-ha” to a thief looking resale as most buyers are privy to at least turning a phone on to see if it’s locked.

Has anyone ever sold anything on Amazon, Ebay, or Craigslist?

I used to buy used items and resell them on Amazon and Ebay. Without writing you an entire book on the subject, I will give you a few key points I have learned.

Know the approximate value of the item you are trying to sell. Look at other ebay or amazon auctions first to see not only what others have asked for a similar item, but primarily for what it actually SOLD for. On Ebay, start your price low enough to get lots of attention; if the item is something people want, you might be able to get a few people into a bidding war, raising the price higher than you would have gotten had you started the bidding at a higher price.

Make sure that you VERY ACCURATELY describe in detail each item you are selling. If there is a slight blemish or anything at all wrong with it, be as honest as you can. When the customer receives what they purchased from you, you want them to have EXACTLY what they expected. Otherwise you may go through a lot of crap trying to deal with them afterwards.

Be aware of the fees involved. Amazon, ebay, paypal, FedEx etc all charge different fees. Look into them in advance so you are not surprised. Also, it is a really good idea to charge the customer the actual shipping costs, so make sure you post this as well.
