How long will my car battery last while running my xbox 360 and a tv?
Ok not to burst your bubble here. I am a certified electrician but I also know a lot about car electronics. Right of the bat. NO power inverter that uses a cigarette lighter port will not be capable of powering an xbox 360 OR a tv. It will blow the fuse so dont even bother. The most you MIGHT get is a little tiny 5 inch screen and maybe a playstation 1 or 2 and i do not recommend it although i have seen it done on a play station 2 but the screen was only like I say about 5 inches. but the xbox 360 has 3 processors and uses more than any cigarette lighter style inverters are giong to be able to handle. To be able to run an xbox 360 and a tv of any size is going to be a lot more work than I think you are planning on. You're going to need at bare minimum 8 gauge wire and attach to a GOOD 600 watts or more continuous (and not max) power inverter (the xbox 360 uses about 200 watts and most tv's use 150-300 watts). And those power inverters will have to attatch directly to the battery. You can mount it under the hood and then run a power wire through to the inside of your car. but never EVER run a power line straight from your battery to the inside of the car without first fusing it because any problem with that wire is going to catch your car on fire. Using a power inverter in your vehicle is like converting your car into a gas powered generator basically. However if you are going to power some big components like an xbox 360 then you're also not going to be able to just leave the car off as it will eventually kill the battery. You might get about 30 minutes but then you're also cutting the life on that battery in fourth. I recommend getting a yellow top optima battery ($200) they last much longer and never go bad. You might even go as far as putting a better alternator to help power your battery as well. But if you're looking to put your house game system in your car youre just going to have to leave the car running. You can do it all for about 100 bucks though if u'd like. And it would make youre car capable of running quite a bit of other things. For example a 1100 watt microwave is going to need a good 1300 watt inverter (to be sure it will work right you always give it more than it needs). Rockford Fosgate makes an incredible alternator just for expanded mobile entertainment also optima makes a battery specifically for your usage. And as for the 360 rock on brotha. Grab that new phone that is its own wifi hotspot and you can get on live from anywhere. My only question is how can u play kinect?
How do you keep your amp from killing your battery?
You could get another battery for just your stereo. Get a bigger alternator. Sometimes a capacitor could do the job.

when it comes to car audio all you care about is the RMS (continuous) wattage not the peak/max wattage because they mean nothing at all and the reason i say this is because of the wattage numbers you listed (i don't think anyone makes a 5000watt (RMS or peak/max) 2channel amp (kicker makes a mono-block 10000watt RMS amp) if you are having charging issues you need to look into upgrading your big3 (wires) and if that does not solve it you can upgrade the cars battery, if you are still having problem you will need a higher output alternator (or second alternator depending on the car if possible) and then you can add extra batteries but just adding a capacitor is a waste of time and money not to mention it will add more stress to the cars stock charging system and make your charging issues WORSE
Car battery problem running 2 amps?
Was the battery brand new at the time of your sound system installation? Probably not. Battery life of 5 years is pretty good. I doubt your I.C.E. killed the battery any quicker. Then again, if you're one of these people who sit in car parks with their stereo cranked full for hours on end that *might* have had an effect on your battery. Car batteries are designed for rapid discharge and rapid recharge. If you want a long slow discharge then get a leisure battery, but that provides you with a whole new charging headache.
Facing my subwoofers towards the seat?
most people face them towards the back.. i want to face mine towards the seats... i have two alpine type r 12s with a 1800 watt peak mono amp. 900 rms..my box is ported and im running 4 guage wire. will this sound good. and will the seats get pounded on? the subs wont be facing it... about 4 inches from the seats also do you think upgrading to a yellow top optima battery will help?
Amp is cutting out at high volume?
ok i have 2 kicker l7's and an alpine 2000 watt amp. stock battery and alternator. i know i have them wired right i have 4 guage wire on my power and my ground. all the connections are good no blown fuses i have them wired down to 2 ohm and the amp is 2 ohm stable at 2000 watts. when i turn my volume up to above 30 it starts to cut out when hard bass hits. im curious if this is a power issue or something else my headlights dim to but i figure thats just the drain from the battery. im curious on how to solve this problem like i was debating on getting one of the yellow top optima batteries and replacing my stock but im not sure if that would help. well any advice would be appreciated

Don't worry your alternator is going to be OK. Amperes is the name of the unit used to measure electric current. 1000 w are powerful but note enough to kill your alternator. I recommend using a capacitor (about $40 - 100) which will prevent the amp to draw a lot of current in a given moment, thus eliminating the dimming of your car's lights when a hard bass is playing. Also try replacing the factory speakers otherwise within a few months you will be buying another set because of the power of the amp.
