What Are The Conflicts In Inkheart

Has any one here read Ink Heart?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

hmmm... sounds like someone didn't do their homework, which frankly is surprising, considering this is Inkheart we're talking about. It is a fantastic book, one that I'm sure you would enjoy if you just tried to read it.

Young Adult Fiction: Am I the only one that gets annoyed when YA books become movies?

You are not alone in this. Check reviews of "The Giver" movie that just came out. All the reviews I read expressed frustration that the plot had been modified to make the movie fit recent trends. If you're looking for more fodder for your frustration, there's also the disastrous Eragon movie. I suspect the problem is two-fold. First, there is always a danger in a book becoming a movie. But some movies have surpassed their original book, like Babe or (in my opinion) Mary Poppins. Both those books were children's books, though. I think the second part of the problem is that a children's book can become any sort of children's movie, but a YA book has to fit various tropes. The characters must be 16, regardless of their age in the book. There must be a romantic element, even better if it can be a romantic conflict. It must be an epic adventure movie, even if the original source material was more contemplative.I will add that one or two YA books have become decent movies, although they're never the big blockbusters. "City of Ember" was surprisingly good, and "Inkheart" managed to stay true to the heart of the book even if it didn't stay true to the plot.

Short "As You Like It" summary?

So I've recently read As You Like It by Shakespeare. I would like to summarize it, but every time I do, it ends up being like two pages. I would like to minimize it to about 5 sentences. Any tips, such as the main points I could cover to get it all?

How do beliefs and values affect society?

I will assume that by beliefs one means “point of views”, philosophies of life*; that values is basically a synonym for beliefs; and society, refers to any of the following: country, area (e.g., Middle East), entire population.I feel that almost the entire set of characteristics (economic, scientific, legal, political, etc) of a given society derive (in the strong sense) from the beliefs prevalent in that society. However, some characteristics do not derive from beliefs, e.g, climate, geography, presence/absence of natural resources , and few others. Beliefs/values determine, shape, delimit, human actions (collectively and individually).Assume that a given society’s belief is that its fundamental, and essentially sole, purpose is to execute a given deity's dictates. Would it not be disingenuous to believe that such a society would be prone to investigate, analyze its physical context, i.e., develop science? Is it not overly apparent that in our society the cultural/economic differences between different countries/regions emerge, to a large extent, from the beliefs/values exercised by people in those countries/regions? Is it not obvious that almost, perhaps even all, wars, conflicts, atrocities, are direct consequences of the beliefs (usually of a religious nature) held by such a society?I would claim that beliefs and values not only affect society but they constitute the society - they are the society.* or as the Germans would so colorfully say, weltanschauung
